    I had a CM 400 A. The bike was used as a winter rider. It was rough looking but mechanically it was built like a tank. Reliable,
    Dependable,and longevity. 183 thousand miles on it when I got rid of it and it was still running like a charm. They should make them again 👍

    I LOVED my Honda 400A. THAT was exactly the bike I had. Best color, my first Honda CAR was the same color!!
    Lived with it for 2 years. Drove it on I-95 all the time. And in south Fla. that was a death wish in the 80's,...worse now! I miss that bike big time. I paid $1,100 for it, 'used', with a few hundred miles on it, from Ft.laud. Honda. I put thousands of miles on it in 2 years, and NOW it is worth over $3K! Wow!!

    Great video. I literally just bought one. It's been sitting in a garage for over 9 years, but I've owned one in the past as well so I'm really excited now to get my hands dirty fixing this one up. Subscribing to your channel.

    My Dad and I had one of those once. I used to ride to Kansas City on it all of the time.

    I have 1 in candy holly green use it on uk roads, imported from usa. These unusual automatic hondas are silky smooth to ride and completely effortless with hardly any shifting and no aching left arm from not having to fiddle with a clutch. Could not recommend these little gems enough.

    beautiful condition! I have a cousin, the 1981 CM400C, but it's a manual (let's just say my bike "Thumper" has a bit more of an... aged patina, hehehe) I've always been curious about the automatic version since that's so unusual for most motorcycles!

    I had a 1980 cm400a and rode. It from Phoenix to Northwest Arkansas mostly in the snow all the way in the winter of 1990 and even kept an average speed of about 70 MPH ,I really thought it was an embarrassment but after years to put it in perspective of the 36 motorcycles I have owned for dependability it ranks as one of the top ten would I trade my Super glide for it uh no but if I found another cheap I would love to own another and it is the same bike used in the movie purple rain which makes it a novelty

    Hi All, I was wondering if someone can help. I have a 1981 CM400A, the bike is great except I am having issues with stalling when I come to a stop sign or traffic light. If I pull the choke out it keeps the bike from stalling but when I accelerate after the stop it bogs down bad, its pretty scary when I have to go through an intersection and I have no speed. The carbs have been cleaned several times and rejetted. Any helpful info would be much appreciated it.

      If you have to use the choke, you know it runs to lean. Not enough fuel, There are fuel filters, check them out.

    Does the trans function lilke a CVT on scooters? Is there no engine braking?

    • @wojciechniepodam3810
      @wojciechniepodam3810 5 лет назад

      Nope, there is traditional torque converter (using oil) paired with classic 2 gears gearbox shift which u choose manually. I dont think there is much of an enginge breaking, but I have never had that kind of bike

    How do you open the gas tank

    • @esssexboy
      @esssexboy 2 года назад

      Its a stupid design to be honest under the flap is a cap that looks like it come off a lawnmower. The later CM400's had a different tank without the daft flap. Also they got air assisted forks and I think some models also got 2 pot front caliper too.
