Fun fact: The partitions for Danzon no.2 is one of the costliest in the world. It costs something like 570$ (I forgot the real price, but it is around 570).
Very interesting adaptation. For us, the mexicans, we alway feel that the foreing musicians doesn´t apply these small details of courage and force that we call:sabor. Your adaptation without violins is remarkable, and it offer a new perspective of this masterpiece.
If you like the trombone, check out my channel. I've uploaded a recording of a band I was in playing this, and our section really let loose in this song.
+Alex Yoon This was arranged for winds. Usually a lot of the fast passages are for strings. Perhap they needed to adjust for either technique or the capabilities of the instrument.
this performance is what makes people think percussionist aren't real musicians. This piece is sight readable (yes I've sight read it) poor counting, no volume, nothing positive I can say about the percussion in this. everyone else was pretty good, but percussionists need to learn to read music
+Lawrence John I am playing this in our community college collegiate concert band, and the only percussionists are myself and my three friends who graduated from my high school last year. I'm not sure if the parts we have just aren't good, but I don't like any of the percussion in this song. And the fact it's so long doesn't help at all. What part did you sight read it for?
The original didn't even have a timbale part in it. It was just glued onto the page like it's meant to be there. Also, those rim shots in the snare and toms in this performance are pathetic.
There's some nice solo work but the conductor isn't really helping the band and there is a distinct lack of rhythmical interest throughout. The performance never really gets going and it should feel edgy and vital... this is too squeaky clean and a little boring... ref percussionists faces!
It is sad that everybody always talks about clarinet or piccolo solo... But that flute solo with clarinet it really hard... Respect to this girl😅
yessirrr
yes! we’re playing this in my high school band right now and out flute player sound so good!
Agreed!
I played this at my high school honor band on clarinet i loved it!
Anhminhandnam Tran yes my man, I played the first alto at my honor band 2 years ago
Played this on Bassoon in my high school Symphonic Band until covid hit and I was SO in love with it
I love how the violin part was substituted by saxophones. They did a wonderful job imitating their sounds.
If you're talking about in the beginning (after clarinet and oboe solos), that's flugel horns.
+Yoko318 Do you mean french horns? You don't have flugel horns in a wind band :)
+Rebecca Charters nope, I mean flugels. just performed this on Friday with my university band.
Although the saxophones did take the pizz. part.
Oh, what type of band was it? You don't normally have them in a wind band

First part excellent, then slower. anyway liked!
Why are they going so slow?
+Alex Yoon This was arranged for winds. Usually a lot of the fast passages are for strings. Perhap they needed to adjust for either technique or the capabilities of the instrument.
+Vincent Smith i know the tempo is in 138 in one segment, which isnt really that fast
@@jayjay62566 Then it becomes 144 and 156 and finally 160.

It's a concert band not an orchestra

Why are we playing this in middle school???? Im in SEVENTH GRADE
Sounds awesome though :D
I'm in 10th grade... we play this too
im in 8th
I'm playing this in sixth grade XD
Me playing this piece In sixth grade is f ed up.
Keep in mind different people can arrange a piece. Arrangements can make pieces more accessible and playable to younger ensembles

Clarinet solo moves too much tbh
