Lived in Spring Hill my whole life. Good place to live! Frankie touched on a lot of the great things about the central location! Also I know he mentioned drugs but that’s never been a huge glaring problem in my 20+ years of living here. Great video frank!
We have lived in Spring Hill 27 years. Great place to live and raise kids. In addition to its' close proximity to beaches, other positive attributes of Hernando County are on the east side of the county. 1.) Spring Hill is neighboring town to historic, interesting, cobblestoned streets, civil war era houses, plantation type homes, southern charmed Brooksville. 2.) The backroads (for example Powell Rd, Spring Lake Rd, roads into Pasco County) provide beautiful panoramic views of the bucolic country-side. Rolling hills, horses/cows and their pastures, hay fields, farms, farm stands, statuesque farm houses (some gated), tree farms, etc. I travel the backroads to Dade City and Zephyrhills because of the beautiful, soul soothing views. Beats Rt 50 to 98 to 301 anyday, lol. JMO
My family and I got a chance to visit Springhill last June. And I fell in love with the area. Especially Weeki Wachee river. We stayed a rental in Palm harbor and loved the convenience of the surrounding areas and beaches etc. We moved recently from NC TO NV but with the drought ( lake mead) being a huge concern we may have to relocate. So I have a great idea where to go next! 😃
Overall good video. I have been going to Spring Hill for over 30 years and you covered most of the need to know topics. But I will add some. Spring Hill offers the old time Florida fell of less congestion, great nature, breeze from the Gulf that delays the summer heat some what and beautiful Florida open space. 1. The near by kayak trails out by Hernando Beach are well marked and very nice. Also the Hernando Sportsman's Club north of town, has one of the best rife ranges you will find if you like to target shoot. 2. Withlacoochee River Electric Company is a Rock Star for a power company. It is a CO-OP. It has some of the lowest electric rates in the state. You even get dividends back each year. Since there is no profit, it is all about the service. They keep the trees trimmed so power is reliable. 7% of the power is from renewable energy. 3. Traffic. The key point is that Spring Hill has a bunch of protected wild life land that boarders the gulf. This has kept down the development which keeps traffic from becoming like Clearwater and Tampa that you have to plan your trips to take in account of the traffic. Most of the new development in the area will take place on the eastern side of the toll road which will not effect Spring Hill as much as other areas. Also, route 50 traffic is a pain but reasonable. 4. You need to let folks know that the toll road to Tampa is expensive. $8 round trip to the airport from Spring hill. So there is no free lunch on the commute. 5. Resale housing stock in Spring Hill offers plenty of choice from fixers to very nice properties. Most of the housing stock was built from the 1960-1980s. Most are block and stucco construction which is good. However, most older homes were built with builder cheap finishes, single pane windows, and roofs that were not very hurricane resistant. You have to pay attention to your home inspection. 6.Spring Hill suffers from lack of choice of companies that offer homeowners insurance. Many properties in Spring Hill have Citizens Insurance which is fine and affordable. Companies like AMICA and USAA will not write homeowners policies for Spring Hill. So you will lose your multi product discount because you can not bundle home and auto. Florida is the 3rd most expensive state for auto insurance. Unless you are from Michigan who is #1, be prepared to spend more. 5. I strongly agree that Marker 48 Brewery is a great place.

i live in spring hill ive lived here 2 years now.. i see a lot of houses going up... ive counted 6 just in our neighborhood alone... so it is growing fast....
Spring hill is a very nice place to live a lot of people are starting to move into this area though I had bought a house in 2013 for 49,000$ and I sold it in January of 2022 for 150,000$ so prices are definitely starting to go up in this area because so many people are moving there
Great video. Thank you for making it. I’m considering moving there. I grew up in New Jersey but I lived in Lehigh acres and currently in Pembroke Pines Florida. I have about a 40 minute drive to Miami with out traffic so 40 minutes to Tampa is pretty much equivalent. It looks like a nice area to raise children in.
589 is a Toll road. Lovebugs show up about a week or two, only twice a year, @ May & Sept. They seem to be getting less & less. Good area for livestock ownership. Check flood zones too.
Spring Hill is where I bought my first home back in 2011 and I got divorced and sold it 3 years ago. Now I'm moving back to that same home! I'm watching this because me and my boyfriend couldn't find anything affordable in Valrico where we are from....it's still easily 50,000 dollars cheaper to buy in spring hill right now.
Where is the giggle icon? I live in Tampa. I'd never leave.... I use to live in NPR and the drive to Tampa is just horrible. When I think of spring hill I automatically think, SINK WHOLE .
The drug problem in Spring Hill is absolutely tremendous my son was a drug addict I know his friends I know the drug deal is I was going crazy for over 14 years to help my son before I finally had him rehabilitated so I think you’re absolutely out of touch with the drug issue other than that you’re pretty right on
I have heard the same, this area is overflowing with drug dealers, many ppl are addicts in this area, an they make their money for their drugs by stealing from ppl who don’t do drugs an have nice things, If you move there KEEP YOUR DOORS LOCKED, 24/7 on cars an houses even when your home!
Sorry about ur son, I know how tuff that can be on a family, but to be honest that's everywhere. I live in a good neighborhood in California and my neighbors kid died of a herorin OD. Tweakers everywhere too. I really think that's a problem all over the country.
I was a homeless vet and I have this beautiful house in spring Hill I love living here I lived in South Florida for over 35 years and whenever we went to Walmart by the time he got to the front of the line you had to replace all the food that was melted and totally destroyed. The lines were so long the only plus part about being online for so long you could have a rudimentary knowledge of how to speak Spanish most of my friends in South Florida were Spanish so it's not a derogatory statement it's the truth when I shop at Walmart here I can walk in and walk right out there's no lines there's nothing like living in Coral springs that's what's great about it along with no traffic
A new Culvers !! That settles my decision ! My first time to the first Culvers many yrs ago was, " boy they are doing it right here ! I should buy stock !" You couldn't buy stock but they are a favorite to this day !

Hey, I work with a lot of out of state buyers. If you want to text/call me at 352-290-6841 or email me at frankie.gomez@exprealty.com, I’ll explain how we can secure you a home without you having to visit right away
I like to think of this area as Spring Hill in the late 90s and early 2000s. Going to become much more developed in the next 5-10 years. Already starting to become that but lots of vacant land and new construction. I’m actually considering a move there myself (once we build a home). The property is cheaper right now. Just south of Royal highlands is 50/Cortez which has a bunch of restaurants and shops, and new businesses are constantly being opened. North it gets more rural as you head into Citrus county, but they are building a new lagoon community north of Royal highlands. I believe it just started to get cleared. There’s plenty of good neighborhoods in that area, but also some lower income neighborhoods as well. Wouldn’t say there is any safety issues with living there though.
I lived in Springhill 26 years, it is not a safe anymore, alot of drugs, my teens talked about being offered pills in school. And the more the area grows the more quality of family's safety declines.
LoveHonorRespect; I live in one of the top rated cities in the US. It's been rated # 1 & 2 inn different yrs. and usually makes the top ten. Drugs are bad here. Drugs everywhere. We don't go to grocery store near us at night any more and it even has a no trespassing signs on the door, Sad !! Never would've thought. Drug deals going on right out the front door in parking lot. Walmart 3/4 mile away has had this going on for yrs. now. A woman was tossed to the ground and had her car hijacked recently. Of course this criminal was suppose to still be in jail. Politicians don't live in among us avg Americans (except the drug using ones) so they are for emptying the jails & early release if they spend more than a day in the slammer.
The drugs are crazy here and so is the homeless population is crazy and I am from Brooklyn New York. And if you are not from Florida, you have to get used to the self entitled attitude that people have that don’t even work or you most definitely see people who I could have been on my 500 pound life. And people drive crazy I have lived here for two years.
Great i am planning to move to Florida in the next two years my son lived in Wesley chapel but I am looking for a more affordable place and Spring Hill sound very interesting and I am coming from another place with sink hole that is Sinking Spring Pennsylvania..😆 🤣
My family is planning to move to Spring Hill soon, I am very worry about a good high school for my daughter , I would like to know if there are good schools there . Thank you
Yes, the public high schools in Spring Hill are of a decent quality. The highest ranked of the Hernando County schools are F. W. Springstead High School and Nature Coast Technical High School. Both schools have a good amount of Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment options for students to prepare for college and Springstead also has a small International Baccalaureate program. Both schools also have good sports and extracurricular programs. As a teenager I knew students at all of the five Hernando County public high schools and all seemed to feel that their schools were generally safe and supportive environments.
I was there last summer and it's pretty boring and i'm 56...who cares about a steakhouse and a new Taco Bell lol.. The housing market is out of control. My good friend lives there and wants me to move down from Atlanta and my gut is telling me i'll be sorry if i do it unless i get a great deal on some land to build a small ranch or buy an existing home. I'm going to call you this week for some more info
