      Turner Falls can often have more people from Texas in the park than from Oklahoma. Another place you can see like that is in the Broken Bow State Park area. Did you ever happen to go there?

    Used to come here in 1948 or so. There were no structures that I can remember. We fished for Perch, swam, and explored Crystal and Wagon Wheel Caves. I recall that the Wagon Wheel was just high enough above the trail that you needed a buddy to help you get in.. On the other hand, Crystal Cave was entered from ground level, going down. It will be interesting to see those now 70+ years later. From what I see now, on some of the videos, I think I would like it better back then than now.

    Collings Castle: Collings was the dean of the education department at the University of Oklahoma and also a very famous author of that time. The total area covered by the castle was a little less than one acre of land. It consisted of a house that had two living rooms and three bedrooms. The house was well decorated with ornaments and rocks of various types such as rust colored rose rocks. Also, there were two other houses called the ‘outhouses’ outside the main building. Geologists have reported discovering a garage in the compound too.

Why haven't I been here? I have been to Turner falls to swim. It was a long time ago, probably 6th or 7th grade. I went one year during Falls Creek. I remember the big slide. I guess I need to watch all of your older videos too!

      Oh, did he have the steel bars when he lived there? If so, I wonder why he did. Was there that much theft back then?

    • @RhettyforHistory
      @RhettyforHistory  5 лет назад +2

      Yes this was before the beard lol! I used to change it up a lot but then I decided to just stick with one look. I had went to Turner Falls a lot as a kid as well and didn't know about this. I'm wondering if they just never had it marked? Maybe we were just so excited about swimming we didn't care about anything else. I feel that way about the Chapel as well. I'm also wondering if the bars were there because he wasn't there and the falls might have been something people went to. I'm not sure on that part. It's sort of sad that they haven't kept this castle up though. Thanks for watching this old video!

    This whole entire place was stunning, the terrain reminded me of my cross country days.

      Hello Jodie! I know we have chatted a bunch and it's good to know your name now. I don't ever ask as I know some people like to remain anonymous and I understand that. This was one of our first videos we shot. We really didn't know what we were doing. I put it thru some software that was supposed to get rid of the shakiness and it added this warped effect. Thank you so much for watching all the old videos. You sure have watched a lot!

    Hello. Great video. I really enjoyed it. If you'll check your video close-up, you'll see red bricks in a few places; plus, if youll check the foundation on one wall, you'll see an arch barely sticking out of the ground. That's because there's more of the castle underground. There was a huge part of the world that's had a mudflood, burying 1 to 4 floors underground. They're not basements because most have doors, windows and arches. You must look into it. I'm telling all I can.
