    A little bit backstory here.
Calli is a nerdy foreigner who decided to risk everything and go to Japan and join up with the very niche underground Japanese rap scene… and spent years embedded with artists she could barely communicate with but deeply respected. She tried out for her new role, the whole vtubing thing, on a whim while her day job as an English teacher was barely paying the bills.
Debuts happens, and Overnight she charted on iTunes and her and her costars changed the streaming game on RUclips.
At the exact same time as she was suddenly being crushed with success and attention the scene she had bred a part of ran into the wall that was Covid 19, the bars that shattered? One layer of that line is the literal bars they played. Hundreds of bars closed because of Covid, for good.
Underground rap in Japan likely will never be the same, a lot of her friends lost their passion and livelihood and saw her success and grew bitter… people she grew up admiring were jealous and angry, and she realized she had automatically started playing the bad guy in her own head,…All this to say she just wanted to remember the life she had back then, and thank it and the people in it, regardless of it’s ending.

@@TheAverageViolinist During her breakdown of the song she said how she just wanted her heroes to tell her she did good and be proud of her what she accomplished, but they never did. She broke down in tears, and it was painful to listen to. That's part of the idea behind the villain she portrayed.

Great reaction, the lyrics here are some of the most personal and emotional from Calli, it's basically a song to her past and regrets, but at the same time is her saying that there is really not mucho to regret, but nostalgia sometimes hits her, even if she's better now and achieving her dreams.
Basically Calli wanted to be a rapper and she became a great fan of the japanese rap underground scene, so she made up her mind and flew to Japan, and decided to pursue her rapping career there. It obviously was not easy, her not knowing the language and haveing no friends there, but she managed to make a name for herself little by little with a lot of work and dedication, but it was not enough to live by, and she ended up getting a job as an english teacher there to support her rappind dreams. There in the japanese night she made friends with a lot of rappers and musicians who were in a similar situation as her, and even if they were not succesful, and could not chase their dreams, well they shared their failings and hopes. She specially became great friends with a pretty big underground group called FAKE TYPE, and things were going upwards.
Then COVID hit and everything shattered, she could no longer chase her dreams, there were no bars or locals to sing or play music in, so in a whim she auditioned for Hololive, who had become big in the past months, and the moment she got in she became massive, breaking records, topping charts and all of that, she realised that finally she could achieve her dreams, albeit in a different way that she had first imagined. But then she started noticing her old friends, from back in the day, were critizicing her and stopped talking to her, and that really hit her, and in her weak moments that we all had she sometimes thought about it, and felt that maybe she had betrayed them, chosen an easy way to fame, she used to be very critic about people clout chasing, jumping on the winning ship and using companies names to succed, and that was what she was doing, so this song is her getting those feelings out, of maybe regret, maybe nostalgia, but at the same time saying to herself that she has nothing to regret, and nothing to wish for from back then, because she's now where she had always wanted, but sometimes the mind is not logicall so that is what this song is about, the past.

Giving you a sub just because you actually listen the song through and then analyse. Great stuff!

Yes, Calli's repertoire is mostly what I'd call "harsh-sounding" rap songs, but I think her best songs are ones like "End of a Life" and another one called "Non-Fiction", which is sung by her and the other four ladies in her Hololive "group" (Holo EN/Myth). The latter is my absolute favorite Calli song because it shows how well these five women sound together, and it's just a great song. I was particularly surprised at how well "Amielia Watson" sounds in this song because she isn't a musical performer by any stretch of the imagination. However, she does a terrific job singing her solo parts and I'm so impressed at how well the whole song turned out. I highly recommend "Non-Fiction" to you.
