    Yep - I think I have about 10hrs of footage from a holiday in November & haven't even looked at it yet because it's too daunting!
    I use 128gb SD cards just so if one fails I won't lose everything!

    • @EatSleep360

      Yeah I think 128 cards are the best to be safe, that’s what I use as well as 64 cards as well.

    Yep. Definitely record more than I need and end up ignoring some shots during the edit (as I lose the will to live). Nothing beats shooting with intent and having an idea of the way you want to tell your story up front, rather than trying to string together hours of meaningless footages😊

    Thanks for sharing this video. I love my x3 and film with it every day. Easy editing via phone makes uploading on location simple. Yet I wish I knew about file sizes of a actual 360 video. Honestly being able to make 360 videos is the main reason I bought it. My channel viewers like that they are the camera man being able to look where they want during the video. Weather it be AI or my own vision, it might not be what the viewer wants to see. Filming in 360 solves that problem. The viewer in a 360 can look where they want. Isn't that the whole idea of sharing a experience? My films last as long as my venture does, so a large capacity storage chip sounds sweet. I hit start and film til the battery needs changed.

    Recording too much footage is a problem. We often record on several cameras as we ride our motorbikes. It's not always easy stopping and starting the cameras as we ride.

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah that must be tricky - the new gps remote would help but still not totally safe plus it’s expensive. I can’t remember which cameras have timed record but this could be good to set it to start and then stop recording after a certain time.

    Rather than say "shoot less", I'd say "shoot smart": think about what you're filming and what story you intend to tell. I try not to limit my filming of a given scene, but don't just hit record and go about my day either. If you have a scene in mind for the end video/film then editing footage become less arduous.

    I use 360 (had an X2, hated it, moved to a GoPro, hate it, and now considering the X3 lol) for fishing videos. Your first point is spot on. In my use case, you never know what's gonna happen, whether you're about to hook up on a fish or something behind or near you happens, cool wildlife comes down to the water to get a drink, etc, so it's always recording. The processing of all that footage (I can easily spend 10+ hours a day on the water) is a royal PITA. It's time consuming, mind numbing, etc, and I've noticed the longer I sit at my computer or on my phone screwing with the keyframes and edits, the less desire I have to do it, and the less quality I get from it. It's something I'm trying to rectify.
    On that note, if you know of a camera that has a feature like GoPro's "Lookback" I think it's called, let me know. The GoPro Max inexplicably doesn't have that feature, and from what I've read on Insta about the X3, is that it's not quite the same. From my understanding, it's a loop recording. I didn't find a way in my online 'research' that it can be set to save clips. If I'm wrong, then the X3 will definitely fit the bill.

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  8 месяцев назад +3

      The X3 does have loop record as you say but it also has a feature called pre record which might help you. I made a video about it here ruclips.net/video/tCAmOazJTK4/видео.htmlsi=HBp4IDEf_tfh0vau hope this helps

    Ha ha, I'm using insta360 to capture myself and my friends while kitesurfing. Camera is hanging on the kite lines and working non-stop for as long as I'm on the water. As a result there is hours of video of pretty much nothing and some moments where my friends are showing up nearby and myself doing some tricks. But I guess in my situation there is no better solution.

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah that’s a tricky one - the new gps preview remote might be worth considering but it’s expensive and I’m not sure how long the battery lasts.

    • @crocodile172
      @crocodile172 8 месяцев назад

      @@EatSleep360 Yes I was thinking about it but after processing my first big chunk I'm kinda Ok with it. I use Insta360 desktop app so I select the "360" view when the whole sphere is stretched on the screen and scrolling fast checking if someone other than me appears or I'm doing some trick. I'm relatively new to insta360 (got it few months ago and have not used it extensively every time I'm on the water) so just trying to figure out the best approach. It is very convenient way to capture everything around and then pick the POW in postproduction. I only wish it would have better resolution (like 8K at least) and 60fps for fast scenes. Mostly riding with my gopro 10 and quality of gopro is so much superior...

Would you recommend a beginner to use a 360 camera or the ace pro if they want to get into vlogging and recording random adventures / vacations. i like your nature video example and was looking to be more out doors like biking and jus roaming around like on an E board and such, but at same time do vlogging. been watching your videos for a while now great content.

      This video is about GoPro vs x3 but will give you an idea of the main difference which is to do with the editing. ruclips.net/video/kelEKmgsauw/видео.htmlsi=M6dlOB-odOVT-IMZ in summary x3 requires a bit more work to make your clips usable but gives you way more flexibility and the ace pro gives you footage you can use straight out the camera but you have to move it more often when filming to cover every angle. The ace pro is much better in low light. Both cameras can accommodate external mics if you buy extra accessories. Hope this helps for starters.

    Good stuff Rich! Yep, over shot lots and I cannot see the cutting room floor anymore... I film while Carp fishing and aim to capture 'the take', as the rod tip bends round and the moment the line is taken , by the Carp, from the reel. It's the only way I can ever catch the shots I want... Lovin' the psych' side of the tech Rich! Keep it coming!

    Really enjoyed the vid…great info. I was given the X3 as a present for Christmas and notice a lag when I record video. Is that normal? Never experienced it with my X2. Thanks!

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  8 месяцев назад +1

      Sometimes playback might be laggy dependent on your phone but the original footage shouldn’t be laggy. Test to see if it’s laggy on mobile and in desktop and in different shooting modes just to try and eliminate what the issue is. You should contact insta360 straightaway though in case it’s an issue with the camera. Oh and make sure the memory card is fast enough - I use sandisk extreme pro - this could be the issue. The x3 is more demanding than the x2. Hope this helps.

    I'm definitely guilty of recording too much. I normally have my X3 mounted on the back on my car and record my drives. Some stretches would be 10-20 min long. That said, I've learn to record my moments when I know what's coming up during my drives.

    2:51 how is this effect made?

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  8 месяцев назад

      That time stamp doesn’t take me to an effect - Do you mean the fast walking shot or the inverted circular shot? The fast walk is hyperlapse so just sped up to 64x in the edit. The inverted shot is done with a 360 camera and then reframed adding keyframes - you can kind of turn the image inside out by dragging it around in the desktop or mobile insta360 software. Hope this answers your question 👍
