  • Here's a couple of games on a 1981 Bally Flash Gordon pinball machine.
This game is a real ass-kicker. It's tough got some neat shots, especially the left spinner, and lots of drop targets. This combined with the cool Bally speech and the double-playfield make it a really neat game. Yeah, there are better games out there for sure, but this one won't set you back a ton of money and has a lot going on. The strobe light in the backbox, when working properly, is a cool toy.
Flash Gordon was designed by Claude Fernandez.

my family and I used to have the Flash Gordon pinball machine (& Williams Triple Strike) but unfortunately every time someone wanted to play it, something would stop working, eventually we sold it to a guy who collected & restored pinball machines

This game has some nice sound effects. I bet you can feel it cranked all the way up.

When I first heard the opening statement “flash! Emperor Ming awaits”, I always thought he said “flash! Morton Gould awaits” Because I was studying music back then and one of the conductors we studied was Morton Gould.

What issues did you have and what did you do to fix it? I am picking up a machine with that flipper having issues.

@@justingreenfeld I had to replace the mini flipper base plate as the screws holding the coil stop where stripped, the stop plate kept coming loose. I have replace the flipper bat shaft as well, problems fixed.

I wanted to like this machine. The games were just too short, but it did have some really nice skill shots that made it interesting.

Hello! Is there a lot of mainteinance for such a machine? I'm thinking of buying one of these, but I'm not sure if I will be able to keep it in working order. Greetings from Slovenia.

If you can't weld, do electronics, fix circuit boards, et al, a pinball machine is best unbought. If you have knowledge of how to fix them, but a roomful...

I wouldn't buy it for two reasons, 1) the maintenance is probably demanding beyond reason so you're looking at a chunk of money out of your pocket for that, 2) the pinny's theme and appearance don't capture that of the actual essence of the B-movie itself.....it's a complete bust in 2017, but a treat in 1980

It’s not bad maintaining machines. As long as you have schematics. Parts are available for even very old machines.
