I'm in the process of replacing both rear lower arms and brackets on my 2001 Grand Prix GT. Only the rear arm bolts can be reused, the rest are junk. Had I known that you carried these parts, I would have ordered them from you. Thanks for the informative video. Incidentally, I bought parts from Merle Green (your dad?) in the 1980s and 1990s at the POCI swap meets that were held in Holyoke, MA. He had some fine NOS pieces that I couldn't get anywhere else. He was always very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to my '60s and '70s LeMans and '71 GTO.
Mr. Mike . i know you are very knowledgeable about cars. But why you don't you use a breaker bar. Instead of cheater pipe. I thought you be using a. Vintage breaker bar . but marvelous job on all these videos.
We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair. We'll keep this in mind in the event that we make this type of repair in the future.
Do you guys have a video for the switch and regulator on a 1999 Grand Prix coupe? Both of my car's windows are sticking, and it's very frustrating to try and deal with the local service department
Your parts are the cheapest I have seen to address the cheap stock trailing arms. You guys solution is far better and as always your videos are excellent. I usually just use them to check out what I am in for when doing a job since you do a lot of northern cars I run into the same stuff as you do. Will be buying these shortly for both my GM cars. Thanks.
this Lumina looks mint compared to mine I have super rusted trailing arm bolts that you can't tell the difference between the bolt and the mating surface
Thanks! Watched your vid, and did this on a 2000 Impala. No room on ends of forward trailing arm bolt/nut. Had to remove "saddle"/bracket from bottom of car. Trailing Arm bolt was FROZEN into the metal tube in side the bushing. Had to DRIVE the bolt out. P.s. one of the 15mm bolts that holds the 'saddle' to the undercarriage unscrewed 1/2 way then sheared w/ about 3/4" sticking out -- could NOT remove it.
what would you recommend doing if the upper control arm bracket is rusting? should i just use some C channel steel what the arms fit into and weld it into place?
Do you have a video that addresses a 2005 Buick Lesabre Custom lower control arms replacement for the rear end and front end? If not, which one will work? Also do you have any videos showing shock/strut replacement for the front and rear end of the same car?
+TexasDog3 Thank you for watching. Unfortunately we do not have a video for your application. We will keep this in mind for future repairs. www.1AAuto.com 866-403-3393
Can you elaborate on what you're doing at the end with the jack? Is the point to have the arm under press (loaded with the cars weight) when you torque it? Also- how big a deal is it if I don't have a torque wrench? I have a general idea of 80lbs is like...not THAT tight. I know I'm late in this comment. Thanks anyway!
HI Phil, When you install the new control arm you want to "load" the suspension on the vehicle, and then torque the bolts down to their proper torque settings. Yo can do this as shown in the video if you're using a lift, or you can place the vehicle on the ground, and then properly torque the bolts down. We carry new control arms for this vehicle with FREE SHIPPING in the lower 48 states www.1aauto.com/1A/ControlArmsRear/Buick/Century/-/-/1997?VideoReply&VideoReply&ATony
Wow I didn't know you were 1aaout! I mean I've seen many of your dyi videos but it just never clicked that your 1aauto... Wow I almost always buy my parts from that sight.
We sell the a pair of these trailing arm shown in the video complete with bushings on our website. They're a very affordable part that's built better than the original. Part Number: 1ASFK00163 on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
i think this is what i experienced on my Impala. Had to remove the saddle/bracket that hold trailing arm to undercarriage (that's the ONLY thing the 15mm socket was for)
I had no problem getting the nut off of the rear bolt, but no matter what I can not get the bolt itself to come out or even turn. I put enough force on the bolt with a breaker bar that I lifted the car up, pivoting it on one of the jack stands, but it wouldn't turn at all. Seeing as I'm going to have to cut it off, where would I find a replacement bolt?

U guys should do a video on any signs there could be of a bad trailing arm
Wats the bar behind that traling bar. It's behind the fuel tank
What size are bolts can’t get mine out
How much psi air do u use for airgun on bolt?
only issue with mine is the part the trailing arm mounts to the body, well the body rusted completely away and its now just floating

I just got a 97’century 160k same issue and also needs the exhaust kit it’s bolt on so that’s pretty cool there’s some rust but I can get to it

You might have to, if it's bad enough that the area is starting to let go. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
@gunhojo I've noted your request and when I have a Camry I'll do a video on it.
The video we have for the Chevy impala will be the exact same style as your Grand Prix

Extensions will decrease power of impact tools like torque sticks
That's is funny when you say that "This car is ruff".
It should fit in just like the original part does. If there are any issues at all call our sales line @ 888-844-3393 1aauto.com
