I wish the commentators would talk about what equipment the archers are using, it would save a lot of detective work . . .

Longbow is a shooting category and therefore it includes the American flat bows or they would not be allowed to compete..
Someone should have taught the commentators to count. The takedown recurves being shot were 3 piece not 2 piece. 1 riser + 2 limbs = 3 piece takedown.
Bet that they know more about bows then you do-at least they were there competing-where were you smarty?

Not for World Archery. As long as the string don't touch the limb is a Longbow.
The longbows look like flat bows.
jim don yes they are, if I remember correctly the international definition of longbow is basically anything not a takedown bow. American flat bows are commonly used as they are more accurate - shooting off the shelf or rest being more consistent.
