Camino de Santiago - Day 34 - Barbadelo to Hospital de la Cruz - Camino Frances - June 2024

I woke to an early, misty morning in Barbadelo after one of the better nights sleep that I have had on the Camino in an albergue.

I don't think there was one 'snorer' - though it could easily have been me!

As I stepped out onto the Camino, the sun rose from the east and lit up the valley's lingering mist. It was a day of beautiful walking - lush greenery, farm-land and clear, dry skies all the way to Portomarín.

Leaving Portomarín, the tiredness sank in and the hillclimbs felt harder, the kilometres felt longer and the desire for a bed grew stronger.

I returned to Spain in June 2024 with the intention of finally completing the Camino Frances route to Santiago de Compostella.

This final trip would see me continue onwards from Ponferrada, where I ended my walk in August 2023.
