    Thanks for your video. I m just servicing my "New" identical machine.
    Mine does go up and down. If you remove the motor cover there is a round ring with 3 grub screws at 120%.
    If you remove the grub screw there is a 4mm x 2cm compression spring and a 1/8 (3.17) ball bearing. This assembly pushes on the shaft and locates into a shallow groove on the motor shaft. I got the ball bearings from a local cycle shop and they were exactly same as the one I didn't loose.

      Thanks Simon. Anything glaringly obviously a wrong idea? I think I'd spin the motor faster and less time in the heater.

    I picked up an old working Zenith Leader watch cleaning machine probably from the 60's. It needs a repaint but works fine including the heater. I'm a home watchmaker hobbyist and still using Naphtha for the first clean, distilled water for the rince and 99% IPA for final. I'm just not willing the pay these prices for L&R fluids or others professional cleaning fluids and so far they come out perfect.

      Hi
      1. Can the naphta harm the watch parts? Where you buy naphta?
      2. What is IPAand where you can buy i?

    Did you reverse the rotation? Doesn't look like the machine has that function. IPA is 99% isopropyl alcohol and Naphtha (basically lighter fluid) both at local hardware store or Amazon. I would not put the pallet fork in the cleaner. A remote temperature gun would give you the dryer temp.

      I don't put IPA anywhere near it

    Been looking for one for a year. Didn’t find one under €1300 so I bought one from india. Is it perfect? No. But it works. Would have loved a vintage one but its near impossible these days

      Honestly as long as it spins, and the rotor that holds the baskets has angled fins on it to push the solution down through the baskets, you're good

    Where did you get the basket?

    Hi Paul, I’m hoping to acquire one of these Elma vintage machines. If successful, I might need to ask some questions about restoration. Would that be ok?

      Everything's in the video to be honest, it's one motor and about six wires 👍

    Hi
    What is the RPM of the machine?
    What is the temperature of the heater? Can you dry it only with a fan or you need the heater?

    • @pwrestoration
      @pwrestoration  Год назад +1

      The rpm is adjustable so you set it to the desired speed. Just enough to get the fluid down through the baskets.
      Heater again, there's no set temp. The manual states to turn it on just before the first rinse and then full speed for 3 mins when drying.
      Definitely need heat. You could always use a small box with holes in the lid, on a radiatorm. Put some watchmakers paper in to soak anything up.

      I think the idea of using heat is to keep humidity from condensing on the parts that could potentially start to rust.

    • @pwrestoration
      @pwrestoration  8 месяцев назад

      Sure can I paid £120 for it with no baskets, and was very kindly supplied with some baskets in exchange for a bottle of good whiskey. They do exist for around that price and needing work.

      @@pwrestoration currently found one for £250 needs some work and baskets.

    You need the shaft to go up and down or you can't spin off the excess fluid before you move onto the next jar. If you don't do the spin off you'll just transfer dirty fluids into the next jar.
