I will never see bonsai collections the same after seeing this one 😂. Honestly blown away of mere the size, character, and age of all his trees. Simply amazing!
Toms collection of Yamadori Juniper are absolutely incredible. The man must gave super powers to collect these trees by himself. Bravo Tom👏 world class !!!
Ben. Thanks so much for this Video of Tom’s awesome Bonsai Garden. Does anyone want to bet that a Few National Grand Champion in there? Tom you are awesome and a down to Earth Bonsai Collector. Peace Be With You
Just found this awesome, awesome video. Thanks so much for posting it. Been playing with Olives for 20 + years and did not know I'd been throwing half of my trees away after cutting them. Looks like another collecting trip on the way.
Being a true native to utah this makes me so proud of my junipers. Nothing beats seeing them thriving in the wild. I would love to bring more of my heritage land back home with me in the city. I can't thank you enough that you keep inspiring to my best. But sadly our lifetime is just too short to really enjoy developing a tree for several thousand years, but how awesome would that be.
this was really great he's a very tree rich man. it's funny I hope that some of the people who get trees from him continue too maintain them in a ore naturalistic fashion. Thanks as always for the content
Thank you for this incredible tour of Tom Vuong’s Bonsai yamadori garden. I have watched this three times and will probably watch it again, there is so much coming from this man. I think that he cannot entrust anyone else to care for these trees. He is the master yamadorist and knows the sensitivities of these trees from gathering to adaptation to a container. And you do good work documenting this incredible art. Continued success in this art. I will be watching.
Fantastic tour...Amazing to see his knowledge and the scale of time that he operates on. You did a really great job of narrating and rephrasing what he was explaining!
Excellent video. Interesting that Tom grafts his pines using the candles. I will give it a go next year. Curious to know his technique for air layering pine trees. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely incredible!! I am floored on so many levels. Tom transcends bonsai some ways it seems. Wonder if he will ever show one of his trees. Thanks for sharing this!
just wow! wow!.....drops some knowledge on us about the grafts. i only have 1 black pine (mostly i grow deciduous ) but i cant wait to try my hand at it. so so pumped after watching this. you've earned a sub from a fellow washingtonian Ben B. Seattle.
Ben thanks for coming down to OC and shared with us this awesome tour. Omg Chu Tom took all these trees out of the museums. JK. Amazing uncle Tom I live 9 miles from your place will reach out to viet bonsai society soon. Thanks Ben again
Hey Ben, very enjoyable tour - thanks to you and Tom. I didn't fully understand the upside-down technique. So you turn the whole tree and huge rootball upside down, cover with a plastic bag. How does its weight get supported? How do you water it? And what happens to the previous foliage when it's upside down and underneath?? Cheers
yes the whole stump of the tree gets flipped upside down. The tap root becomes the new trunk where the branches grow from. He keeps it humid until new branches emerge from the tap root.

Also those old trees have slowed down so much they are barely contributing to the environment anymore( until tom get them and they start thriving again👍)
When he finds a great shaped tree, does he just take it, or does he find the landowner and then purchase the tree before digging up? How does he know which tree can be dug without killing the small live root? Do these trees remain in the Ca. climate in order to remain alive once they are in the bonsai pots, even though they originally came from different parts of the country?
yeah you can tell his passion isnt bonsai styling and refining, hes addicted to hunting and collecting yamadori. all i could think was the amount of wire to finish off that collection would cost a fortune.
Over care the roots and tree.. I'm guilty as charged smh.. I had to get so many trees that I forget one or two sometimes to not over care for the.. over Fertilize?, guilt, over watering?, guilt, over pruning?, guilt..... after all this hobby is patience, effort, planning and time.

Неймовірно!!! Яка краса!!! Такий бонсай я ще не бачив! На жаль не знаю англійської, і не зрозумів які види рослин використані для композицій

Amazing
Wow
Most of his juniper’s are in what type soil?

He only digs on permissible private property. Most if not all junipers will acclimate to socal weather with time
