The regular pyrite in G-10 has a captive pivot. Both steel liners have D shaped holes. They still used the same pivot hardware with T8 heads on both sides.
It's a winner for sure!
Can't wait for them to release the biggun in a reverse wharntofoot blade!

THAT’S NOT A REVERSE TANTO! THATS AN……… eh screw it 🤷🏻♂️. It’s definitely a reverse tanto or sheepsfoot possibly. Idk. I don’t even care lol. I just love the design for the price. I’ll buy one next week if it’s available. Along with a WE Knives praxis in ti. This week was a strider smf lego for half what it should have sold for. Gotta love having good friends in the knife community.

Love your reviews...I do have one thought for adding to your review. a quick note about pocket clips and if they are actually usable would be helpful. It seems like the last couple knives I have gotten have a clip that is so tight they will not work without bending it.
He typically goes over pocket clips but as far as their tension, then I do agree. But if the pocket clip is made in the way he typically likes, or has gone over how he would like, then even the most tensioned clip wouldn’t mess up your pants.
I got the large pyrite in the normal stainless steel and it’s excellent! Love everything about it except the pivot still not being captive. I had the Micarta one that seemed like the pivot was captive but it turned out to be faulty so there we are! Amazing knife though can’t wait to see what comes next

Just returned a Recon 1, wouldn't close securely and the tip would wiggle out of the handle making for a great pocket finger opener. First and last Cold Steel purchase. Looking for a large knife and you've sold me on the Pyrite.
Sorry about the recon. I have a regular and a mini and they are both awesome. That lock sounds like a vault door closing.

The pivot is captured. Don't know why they put a hole for a bit on both sides.
Need a premium version of this with a reverse tanto. Keep the studs

Man I say if they make a Pyrite and use a cpm s90v or M4 blade that would be one awesome knife , CJRB has a very tight lock up
They already make an S90V standard pyrite. I'm sure they'll do it with this larger version too

PYRITE LRG VS RIFF ?
My Riff arrived yesterday and it seems really solid so far. The G10 is really grippy, can't speak for the Micarta. Button was a bit sticky out of the box but seems to get better with time. I can't use the fuller to reverse flick like I can with a fingerhole because it's a lot more shallow than I had assumed. The jimping is super slippery and useless but can probably be modified with a file to work. If neither of those are big issues for you I'd say go with the Riff. :)

I hate the Pyrite's jimping. It's absolutely useless.
Same on the Riff, if you need good jimping you probably wanna take a file to it.

@@ambulldog111 because it should catch my thumb from slipping and it doesn’t. Hence the uselessness.

I have this and the button lock action is spectacular. However, it’s impossible to open with the thumb studs because it’s so tight. Is that what “detent” refers to? Can it be fixed? I’ve had it for a few months but it doesn’t seem to improve with use.

Definitely waiting for the Alt blade to make it to the larger Pyrite. It’ll replace my first CJRB, the Baranca. I love this particular blade shape in that it coincides with the utility blades I use at the grocery store I work at, and it means my edc mimics my work knife’s function if I happen to leave it in my locker, which happens. It’s 5am, I’ve had like 3 or 4 sips of coffee some days. You forget things. Just sayin. 👍🏻
Side note: The guy that wonders why he’s making all the FF jokes is the same guy who named his channel members “Knights of the Round”. I mean, I’m not wondering at all…🔴🟣🔵
