I'm less concerned that anyone knows she's riding a bike alone. Kids do that all the time, and I certainly did when I was that age. And in all honesty, I'm not even 100% concerned she has 1 or more offenders on her bike ride, as it's going to be much harder to catch a child on a bike than one walking. Before you attack me for saying that, I'm NOT saying there is a 0% risk. I'm just saying it's not the most concerning part of this. What concerns me the most is that they tell us what street he's on, and even show a map of the neighborhood. Anyone can turn to Google maps nap and pinpoint his exact address now.
EXACTLY SAME THING HERE IN QUINTE WEST ONTARIO CANADA, MY 11 YR OLD BOY WAS NOT ALLOWED OM THE BUS HES BEEN TAKING FOR YEARS, THEY SAY WE ARE WITHIN 3 KM OF SCHOOL TO WALK, THE BUS HAS A HALF A BUS FULL ANS STILL STOPS AT HIS BUS STOP FOR OTHER KIDS, AND STILL GOES TO THE SCHOOL, MY BOY HAS ADHD AND IS NOT MATURE ENOUGH TO WALK, HES IN SPECIAL PROGRAMS AT SCHOOL TO GET HELP AND THEY DO THIS TO HIM
Absolutely not! In this day and age, you can’t trust anyone when it comes to kids. My kids can and will ride the bus. I don’t care if they are close to the school, my children’s safety is far more important than your butthurt feelings.
As a school bus driver, a kid is not allowed on my bus unless they are on my list given to me by the school. So sorry if I see a kid at a stop that's not listed I keep moving cause I'm not trying to get in trouble for picking up some unknown kid PS we do enter some neighborhoods if instructed to in order to pick up a kid or multiple kids
If I’m correct… the only time you would allow someone that doesn’t take that bus is only when they have a bus pass? I know that’s how our school district does it, not sure if it’s different for your district
Glad kids I got off with were on my route 100% of the time it was my cousin but that was if neither of parents were home at the time that was rare luckily mom wouldn't let us go straight home with them if we were staying the night we didn't live far like a street over so it was a good excuse
@@NateOnThe-Radio I'm not sure about bus passes cause haven't seen them be given. I and the other drivers just hafta rely on the teachers to make sure the kids go to then board the correct busses. At least when it comes to the elementary school that I drive for as my route. I don't think middle school has bus passes either even though I haven't driven for middle but I have ridden on busses that have middle school routes. However, idk about high school 🤷♀️
“Lack of bus drivers” - Hire more bus drivers “Reduce prices” - Your a school board, force the damn state, there’s laws for that “Improve Efficiency” - bullshit, my driver picks up about 10-15 kids on my route out of town, and it takes no time at all. Only about an hour.
If they belong on the same bus ok. If this bus driver don't want to do her job. Quit before she gets in trouble, embarrassed and fired. Seriously some bus drivers and bus monitors just don't even belong in that profession in the first place blah.
You say “quit” as if the whole crux of this issue they just discussed isn’t a shortage of bus drivers 😂😂 As school bus drivers, we have to get DOT physicals every year, we have to maintain a CDL with the endorsements, and then have to do a thankless job that doesn’t pay enough and requires us to deal with ppls disrespectful children. The school bus profession can’t afford for ppl who are actually doing the job to just “quit”.
Most if not all districts you have to register to ride the bus and most schools have bus passes now days given to kids and if the students not on the list the students aren’t on the list and ride anyway they could get into trouble once they get to school.
@@RichnRare I was being facetious. And the BusDriver, turns out, was not supposed to be in that neighborhood anyway. It seems crazy to look at a bus in front of their home and not be able to get on it. Really my frustration comes from This Big rich Country of ours, No.1 in the World, according to some, we can't fund safe transportation for all students and free healthy food for all school children, and well paid teachers and workers to support them. And childcare, prenatal care, healthcare, and affordable higher education like other Modern Democracies have been doing for decades. the excuse for not providing a School Bus for students living 2 miles away, is that they dont have funding. Big Rich country cant afford buses or to pay drivers a respectful wage while a few Billionaires (2000 in total) fight raising wages while paying 1% taxes.
This just puts kids at risk. I think the district is just being lazy. If they have open positions for bus drivers, then they need to HIRE more bus drivers.
From 2002 to 2004, I lived about a 10 minute walk away from school, and the only time my father took me to and from school was only when the weather was bad. I didn’t complain back then, and I still don’t! Also, why do many school districts nowadays pick up the kids at their individual homes instead of all the kids just walking to one bus stop to be picked up all at once? That would save a lot of time!
back in the late 60's our city had the one mile rule, we were 10 houses away from a mile road and the middle school was at the next mile road but set aways back, we had to walk and let me tell you those black kids showed us no mercy in the winter with snowballs and in the summer chasing us for fights for no reason, it was a horrible time and no one cared
This never happened when I used when I was young I was at Francis Howell School District the schools I went to was Becky David, Barnwell and FHN I graduated 2013 there was never any school bus shortages like this. New young bus drivers smh they don’t care about their jobs compare to the bus driver when I was I was in school sounds like
For me Elementary and Middle School walking would have been a problem since they were somewhat practically next door to where I lived, but for High School I would have to take the public city if this happened. Back then it would have been simply a single bus which thankfully had a stop just outside my street and in front of school, but today is 2 buses both with a stop with a 30 minute walk on both ends and no way will I make it to school on time.
My nephews school wanted my 5 year old nephew to walk to the end of the road to get picked up as his mother doesn't drive and this was back when his dad went in early so he couldn't drop my sister and her son off thats about a 2-3 mile walk and he's a special needs kid they asked the school to come out and check it out after that the school said he would be picked up at his driveway cause even they could see how dangerous it was for a preschooler to walk that distance in all kinds of weather it's a state maintained road luckily there's a turn around for the bus now if it was a bigger bus there's no way it's a small turn around but as he uses the special needs small bus its easy even the bus driver said he would go down the road to pick my nephew up when the school wanted them to do the original way he was the one to make the final decision
So let me get this straight u would allow kids ride bikes and walk miles with offenders. Do u allow kid outside without adult. I guess the guy would drive his kids anywhere over 3 houses. If not then don't make comment. Point I would ride bike miles at 10 yrs old. If this guy would do that with offenders around. I guess child endangerment charges. He better not let his kid in mall alone. Sorry not picking on him. Saying any parent. I walked mile to a bus stop. These days within 5 houses around here a bus driver needs stop three times. ITS CALLED MEET IN MIDDLE. How making sure kids r out at bus before it gets there . Drivers shouldn't have to wait 3 min for kids walk from house. I forgot there to lazy goes with parents that can't go vote.
Sure this sucks, but it makes perfect sense and there's an obvious reason they're doing this. They said they got 500 requests for kids to be picked up. Do you think they have 500 empty bus seats just lying around on these routes? The buses they have available (With the drivers available) can only carry so many students, and they can't magically make more spaces on the bus out of nowhere.
That is sad. When I was a kid. My school was a ten minute walk. But a bus still came for me.
With security concerns i don't know if i would share that my daughter is riding a bike to school alone 😳😲😖
😢 So much information

A mile from school ??? Walk, pushbike !!! Unless there is a mental or physical disability. Ride with other kids from the neighbourhood.
I wish I lived a mile from school

So he follows her to school in his car to make sure she safe while she rides her bike? Why the f#%$ not just drive your kid to school
That's MY question too.
The dad is riding his bike behind her, he's not in a car.
Wow that is so ignorant of the transportation company.
They only measure the bottom of the driveway?! WTF kind of crap is that?! Can someone please explain this and why they do that?! I’m very confused!

News flash: Give some authority back to bugs drives to discipline, and then perhaps you might have some more drivers willing to do the job..

If the child is special needs the bus has to by law have a bus aide or it cannot even leave the school to pick kids up.
welcome to the real world, it's been that way in st louis county forever

I was in the same boat. No busses for me. But about 20 years ago, they decided my old house was close enough now and the bus picks kids up I'm told.
Time to "suit" up. Especialy those with disabled kids.
Love to see 👀if I was in the first time ⌚you see it now I have to be able to get a job that 😢😊
