Excellent video! I was worried about losing all the Samsung stuff after installing Nova Launcher, but good to see you don't! Definitely on my wish list for xmas now!
I'm truly sorry for the thumbs down. It is an excellent video that I really appreciate. Maybe what upset me was what you said about the gimmicky parts of the tablet. I'm just torn between the need for Nova Launcher and TouchWiz. Yet, thanks for the indepth review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 ed.
Just want to share my thoughts for additional info. When doing multi-tasking and you want the additional window selections in the middle, just click on the blue circle once and the options will appear. No meed to long press. Hope this helps.
Want one of these but am waiting for Sammy to introduce the Note 12.2 first. In addition to a larger screen, it will be interesting to see what else it may offer. Then again, it may be just a 10.1, but bigger. Looks like Sammy is waiting for the 10.1 market to make some sales before introducing competition. I expect to see it in Nov. Whadda ya think?
Great video. Thanks. Kind of waiting to see what the Note 12.2 is all about before I buy the Note 10.1. Any good rumors about the 12.2? Since Sammy dumped the Ativ Q, I was kind of hoping that the 12.2 might run Android and Windows as the Ativ Q did.
I notice that many people are talking about Nova Launcher for Note 3 and Note 10.1. Seems that there is a few versions of that Launcher. Which ones are best for Note 3 and Note 10.1?
Thanks so much for putting these videos out. I'm a total neophyte at all things tablet. This is my first foray into that world (a deep, dark tunnel for the uninitiated). That said, your knowledge and sharing let me hit the ground running. I can see the light at the end of this techno-powerology cavern.
When you turn off your Note 10.1 and a video pops up you can turn it off by going to the app called screen saver open it up and turn everything off in it and the videos will stop popping up no lie it works if helped your welcome:)
Hello, got a question, just had a family member introduce me to a site called Woot.com, a company owned by Amazon.com. they had a really good deal on the NotePro 12.2, which I just bought an hour ago. Since I will be new to the whole note experience and I own a Samsung phone and own both Nova Prime and Apex Pro (currently use Apex), does the use of a launcher like Apex or Nova actually disable the Touchwiz/Magazine UI on these devices? I.E. does the Magazine UI still eat up memory (ram) in the background while Nova/Apex is the default launcher? Was wondering about this... Have some serious reservations about Magazine UI... Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kelley.
Ed Walkcow I have, I dumped pure Android in favor of a stripped version of touch wiz without the bloat. Use Apex Launcher to make things zippier. Has been a save for sure.
I think so. When I thought that I had bricked it I was so depressed. Went to XDA and found the ROM which was stock touchwiz but without the bloat. Since then it was faster than it was out of the box. Very happy with it.
Martin The Great "Nova Laucher is essentially a new OS" That's REALLY dumb. A launcher is just a different UI for your home screen and app drawer. UI mod =/= OS.
Chizbang If you don't mind the occasional micro-lags when scrolling really fast, I think it's really good. 3 gigs of RAM, and it shows. Still, if you don't want/need to take notes often, I would recommend the Tab S 10.5 instead.
sorry to bother you I just bought my note 10.1 and I accidentaly activated a feature that I don't want, everytime I stop using the device, it starts showing a video, that is like a screen saver or sleep mode screen, can you tell me how to turn this off. Thank you in advanced.
I know that this is an older post, but I'm torn between this tablet and an iPad Air. I've watched comparisons of the two. Just not sure if the laggy performance is something I can deal with or even if its still an issue. Ideally, I would love to see an Android tablet with the build quality and speed of the iPad Air, but with a really nice pure Android experience. I nice Snapdragon 800/805 with 2-3Gb storage, great display from the Samsung, SD slot and a metal body. I should just wish for the moon. LOL
Excellent video! I was worried about losing all the Samsung stuff after installing Nova Launcher, but good to see you don't! Definitely on my wish list for xmas now!
Wow, I was blown away by so many adjustment that improved my performance. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the thorough walkthrough; I'm now sold on Nova!

Thanks! Nova is exaxtly what I want to use with the tablet. Nice to see.everything still works fine
Thanks for the video. Unlocking the developer options was exactly what I was looking for!

I have a Note 10.1 2014 Edition and I like it far better than my iPad Air. Much more useful and I love the SD card slot.
How do you do a screenshot on this tablet?? Or print from it? I have searched all over the Internet for this and have come up with no help!!

you never found any lag with or without using Nova launcher ?
It will be interesting to compare multitasking when surface 2 comes out.
Your videos are incredibly detailed, and extremely helpful.
Hi how to enable ripple effect in lockscreen mode??? Please help me
My note 10.1 2014 edition will arrive tomorrow....yeeesss
If the note 10.1 has a more beefier processor like the i5 or i3 it would be the best selling product for sure
Rooting this tablet and putting a unbloated rom on it is so easy and fixes all the lag
When you turn off your Note 10.1 and a video pops up you can turn it off by going to the app called screen saver open it up and turn everything off in it and the videos will stop popping up no lie it works if helped your welcome:)
Go Launcher and Nova Launcher are the best.
How do you add the bottom row?

Kelley Shelton ur question is pretty long tho....... have u found ur answer yet? I'm curious as well

Kelley Shelton really?! does it make it faster or what?
I think so. When I thought that I had bricked it I was so depressed. Went to XDA and found the ROM which was stock touchwiz but without the bloat. Since then it was faster than it was out of the box. Very happy with it.
so is it better to install nova launcher?
I just unlocked the Developer Options. How do I hide that option?
I have a serious question, what is the difference between Nova Launcher and Cyanogen mod?
Martin The Great "Nova Laucher is essentially a new OS"
That's REALLY dumb. A launcher is just a different UI for your home screen and app drawer.
UI mod =/= OS.
Martin The Great Now that's a better description. I'm a CyanMod user myself, really satisfied with it.
Martin The Great It shouldn't be installed on this tablet though, as the S Pen and important Touchwiz features will be lost.
IS the performance better on the Note 10.1 with the Nova launcher?
Yes, it is.
oktny How is web browsing performance? Im seriously considering switching to a Note from my iPad.

I believe that's the "Daydream" setting in the settings menu (seen here... 11:07)
I'm using my galaxy tab 2 10.1
realy enjoy watching ur videos...keep up the good work

Benjamin Huang I wound up with the 64GB iPad Air. I miss some of the nice Android features, but the iPad is working well for me.
Excellent narration.
