See if your library offers a “seed library”. Many are popping up lately and they offer free seeds. Also check the local apps for Nextdoor, Craigslist, Freecycle, and definitely your county extension service!
A few of my neighbors hate plants they gave me hard times because I'm growing herbs and vegetables they tell me I'm attracting rats...will we live in the desert full of rats already I have my cats on guard in my yard, my neighbors grow rocks and I grow greens haters will be haters.

I just can’t live next to such nonsensical idiots. Having good neighbors is one of the most important things of being a home owner.
