Thanks Paul for answering all these questions. Thanks Dana and Sarah for creating this content. The mobility chair is wonderful and such a blessing! This video explained a lot. Glad Paul is still doing well.
Thank you for sharing this video I often find myself wondering how Paul is doing.many times when I am working in my garden his words of wisdom pop in to my head.
To add to my last comment…since discovering Paul a couple months ago, I think I have watched most of the videos. I can’t get enough of Paul’s love of gardening and his love of God. Paul you have changed my prayer life to learning to listen to the voice of God. Thank you so much for
Thank you for this video. I'm relived to see Paul is doing well, and still doing what he loves. I really hope I can visit him one day, he's made such a positive impact in my life.
Paul is an inspiration to talk and listen to. I met him and had a feeling of tranquility while their. His dog Toba was great to meet. As I have a passion for animals.
so good to see him happy, he has given us all so much I was happy to donate to his chair.... never saw it before but wow love that its perfect for pottering round the garden and it must have been such a blessing for him...he looks more healthy and in less pain. Thanks Paul for all your knowledge, it has caught a global audience in its simplicity :)

HALALUYAH for allowing me to learn what YAH is teaching me through Paul. Brother Paul you are the prophet I have been seeking. I live in new Zealand. Massive blessings to you and you household 🪶

Thank you Paul it’s been so encouraging for me, I was disappointed with all hard work in a garden as I am a little woman, now I am going to continue to build my new garden.❤
Please tell Paul that our New Zealand garden is so abundant thanks to him listening to God. So great to see him again. It’s been quite a few years since we visited. Russell will be very interested in his wheel chair.
I recommend your Back To Eden Film to my students and everyone who wants to grow a garden! It changed my life for the better and I still cry when I watch it! Sending Infinite love and abundance to all 🥰
Thank You Dana & Sarah for bringing to all that finds it such a nurturing bounty of information and I'll never not be amazed by Paul Gautschi and those arching fruit trees. 🌄
Paul is Great, and we started watching him over 8 years ago. WE So Agree, Soil needs to be alive to get great plants and food from them. We grow in Living Soil, not only is it cheap, but it is the BEST, and we have too be spreading the word. Thank you
Back to Eden does work. Summer of 2022, I had the best garden season ever. Yielded record corn, I believe record tomatoes, etc. I went the full year without watering one time. Didn't water the seeds when I planted, didn't water even when I harvest. So Paul Gautschi and his style of permaculture garden worked.
So glad I came across the Back to Eden method. It’s such a blessing to hear Paul share his revelations from gardening. You can tell he really loves the Lord, he has so much joy. God bless you.
I only discovered Paul and the Back to Eden gardening method. Our ground is all clay. Needless to say I am so excited to start this my BTE garden. In the past I have not had much success. Thank you Paul for being such a blessing. We were in Washington DC a couple of months ago, and I wish I knew about you so we could have visited ❤
Our high dry, impossible garden has just been covered by 8 inches Plus of wood chips...can't wait to watch the change in our garden by using the back to eden way...so thankful to God for you ALL.
The powers that be are not friendly. Very well said. I've been following your plan now over 10 years and would never go back to tilling my soil. Thankyou for you generosity in sharing your knowledge.
I love and respect this man's wisdom and faith so much that I added about a foot of woodchips for almost a square acre sized area. This was about 2 years ago. I do agree with him on all of the benefits however, I would probably push back on the "you'll see a difference immediately" because we couldn't plant in the area for about a year because you obviously can't plant directly into the woodchips. When we pull the woodchips back, there's usually about 2 inches of water sitting on top of the hardpan clay so all of the things we tried to grow just died from drowning (my thought, I don't know actually know for sure). But I do know that plants don't like having inches of water surrounding them. I live in NC where we get storms that'll dump 2-4 inches in a day so I just don't know what to do. I would've thought the woodchips would allow it to slowly percolate down but it seems that with such a heavy rainfall it's just impossible. Is that answer to just add more woodchips? The area that I'm talking about doesn't have very good drainage but I thought adding a foot of woodchips would over time break down and be much better at holding moisture. I think the woodchips are really good in dry places that don't get a lot of rain, but what should I do when there's SO MUCH rain? Paul gets 16inches of rain a year where we've gotten 16inches in the last 2 months....
Thank you so much for this interview.I was wondering how Paul was doing for a long time. I am glad he is okay and has a really cool chair to stroll the garden. :) Love from Türkiye.
Even though Paul pretty much has said the same thing in every single video by every person that's ever fimed him. He is still SO important to us. I wish you guys would get him to open up like ThatNub, L2Survive, whichever does. Talk about the powers that be. Monsanto all that crap. And much much more. But i know you guys have heard or seen it. How about a Back to Eden part 2??... would be Amazing!!!
Glad to see Paul G. He looks really well, and his speech. I've got my little vegetable garden covered in about 10 inches of fall leaves now. I don't have access to wood chips, but I do have access to fall leaves. Plus, I'll keep about 6 big bags of fall leaves to use in late May or early June, in those problem areas. I had a walk area last year which was getting a little weedy. I covered the grass in newspapers, placed a bag of leaves on top; no more johnson grass.
Filled my whole urban yard with wood chips this fall. I can't wait to see the results on my fruit trees. Becarful with watering from above if you live in urban setting all the chemicals in the water is not good to get on leafs. Paul has great water at his place, so just be cautious whenever watering plants with city water. Thanks for the video guys.
Don't give up. It works amazing!!! I usually put woodchips down deep a year or 2 before I plant a tree. But it'll work either way. Especially a foot of woodchips.
There are so many people on you tube telling you that you can't grow veggies with the Back to Eden method. But yes it really does work even In portable raised beds and pots. I grow all my plants in pots and portable raised beds because I rent. I have a bin full of broken down wood chips soil. I have fungus growing in it, and coming up in my pots. I wish I had seen this method many years ago when the only soil I had to grow stuff was pure clay. All the best to you Paul and your family, I hope one day to visit your place with my family.
I have been doing Paul's methods for over 14 years here in Missouri. Compost works a lot better than the free wood chips from tree companies. However, I use both. I normally let the free chips sit for several months in a pile before I apply them. My garden is now over 6000 square feet and I have added over 15 fruit trees in a new area. I love the way this method works.
I purchased some bare land a few years back and been wanting to do BTE gardening in my spare time. I have a couple issues tho. 1: my property was farmed and according to the previous owners the guy they bought it from never farmed it but they kept it tilled. 2: it’s not economical to import wood chips. Can I substitute it for straw? I’m on the prairies so I have access to tons. I find that my soil is 100% silt. Got about 10-12” good Black silt. My shelter belt I planted 300 trees for the 1st row I have to replace 40-70 trees per year that don’t catch. The ones from the 1st year haven’t died but they haven’t thrived either. Wood chipped those. I planted some fruit trees beside the garden and 1.5 years ago I filled the whole area with mulch and added a few more perennials to turn that area into a permaculture garden. Love the idea of working with Mother Nature. Will cover several acres with permaculture if I had the resources Been adding bedding from the chicken coop to every where but it does not decompose like ordinary compost. Anyone care to give me advice if I’m doing something right.. or wrong? I also don’t own a tiller and I find the weeds in the 5000 sq ft garden got out of hand on us. Came up as fast as we could pull them out
I have been a landscaper and arborist and now finally have the opportunity to be on land where I can build permaculture gardens. Bark mulch has always been something I loved to use and wood chips have always been available. Knowing they would always break down into soil has always been a positive for me. wood chips have always been added to my compost. Now we are using chips and leaves to start all of our new gardens and even for weed and grass control under fences and trees. Once aged we will grow flowers and more there and still not have to use grass trimmers very much. Paul inspired me to add Back To Eden to our new permaculture farm and we are happy to do so.

a garden missionary for our Lord God. I have a herbal medicine business called Little Eden a medicinal plant missionary inspired by Paul. What an amazing man of God Paul is.
Thanks to Paul's videos, I use a lot of woodchip in my garden. The areas that are woodchipped are, by far, the best. Weeds pull more easily and there are far fewer of them. the ground doesn't need nearly as much water, especially when we get a lot of rain anyway. I've not done so much gardening for a few years (for good reason), but I'm not planning to get it all licked back into shape again this year to go full throttle next year. It's great to see him looking so well and relaxed. I wonder how he feels about our Governments (I'm in the UK) forcing everyone to register their birds (even if they only have one)? I believe a cull is being planned, especially after seeing the Pale (Green) Horse in the Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony - famine is on its way to billions. War with Russia is on the cards too. It's time.
try using woodchip bottom layer of pot for drainage and to hang onto water. then layer of compost for root system. then everything above seed fill the container up with woodchip.

In the UK, Charles Dowding fully composts his organic matter / wood chips etc. first because over here, the vast amount of slugs eat everything if you put arborist wood chips straight down (they live in it too). But fully composted wood chips? They don't touch the stuff. They can't eat it, and it practically acts as a barrier for them. Tried both ways myself 😁 Night and day difference. Can't speak for the US, but I imagine slug population / moisture levels are what make the difference if you can run straight arborist chips or you have to fully compost them in a heap first.
@@jakearthur thanks for the response. I used arborist chips, like a foot deep. I love it for so many reasons but past summer was the worst I ever seen with holes in plant leaves. Maybe I'll have to consider not topping it up anymore

I tried the wood chips in my garden and nothing would grow there for around 4 years, you need well drained soil, or wait years for it to heal the soil first.
