Finding this interview is a blessing. I started listening to George when I was 11 years old. He's in constant rotation in my car and house. I can't imagine a world without George. THANK YOU MR BENSON
I don't know if brother Benson will see this or not, but I truly want to thank him for leading me to the One True God with and through his music. I am seventy-four years young and have been listening to his music for what seems like a lifetime. I began my journey w/jazz when I was ten years old. I began collecting jazz albums w/saved monies that I was gifted by relatives and friends. I used to iron, run errands, read for those who couldn't, write for those who didn't, talk for those who wouldn't. All the while, I listened to music. There was always music in my home, morning, noon and night. My mom loved music (progressive jazz) and played it always on old 78 records. I grew up listening to the radio. When I first heard George, I used to cry because I thought (and still do) his singing and playing was truly a gift from our grand creator. Thanks to the Creator of the universe for such a gift in men to bring joy to one's spirit. Thanks to you who produced this program for listening and learning pleasure.
I truely agree with you Rochelle..this man inspired me to play..I was looking for a guit with his sound( I could not afford a GB 10 or 20) so I found a ARIA arch top with his sound..glad I did..now if only I could play like him..there will only be just 1 George Benson..and I will never get tired of listening to him
"Livin' Inside Your Love" remains on continual rotation (on the turntable or in my head), and is easily one of my all-time favourite albums. I was so lucky to see/hear him LIVE in 1979 at Vancouver's QE Theatre. His music continues to permeate my soul...
Thank you for posting this. This touring band of '78 and '79 was one of my all time favorites, because of the two keyboard arrangement with Ronnie Foster and Jorge Dalto.

Good to hear about his beginning in his own words. Long live BLACK Jazz in all of its forms and glory. Mike D., you did it again. Thanks for sharing.
"it's simply like BREEZIN to George Benson" !!! If ever there was inspiration and motivation and beauty and giftedness, it is Mr. Benson !
