I’m Italian, but not Roman, just a note the in “da paura”, the “da” is not translated as from, it’s actually a contraction to mean something so scary “da causare paura” “to be causing fear”, also this fear is not to intended literally, it may mean something so awesome to be “scary” awesome.
I'm roman. About "mortacci tua" I have to say that most of the time we use it in a positive meaning. Is also offensive but as I said we usually in positive sentences. Such as: "Mortacci tua aho! Hai vinto 'na cifra de sordi!" "You're so fucking lucky mate! You've won a bunch of money!"
If they sing i stornelli it can't be too bad. As I understand it, it's more the hand gesture that goes with it that determines how rude you are. But hey, when in Rome . . .
Other common expressions: "du palle" >> "how boring" (a little vulgar) "sto 'na crema" >> "I feel very good" "coatto" >> "unrefined person" "pipinara" >> chaos created by a large and loud crowd "se, lallero!" >> "as if!" "embé!" >> "of course/it's obvious" "embé??" >> "and so?/so what?"
Romano is an adjective, eg. Lui è Romano. (He is Roman), Ha un accento romano (He has a roman accent) Romanesco is the noun/name of the Roman dialect Romanaccio a pejorative (negative way) to say Romanesco.
This is a bit long but it’s very sarcastic and typically Roman “e chi se ne frega n c’è lo metti” “you didn’t say who gives a s**t”, to means I really don’t care of that and you have no power here
...also "schiuma' " as opposed to "schiumà" for the same reason. Moreover it's important to understand that "mortacci tua" as well as its short forms ("tacci tua"," 'cci tua"...) can be also be a POSITIVE comment in a convolute and openly fake depiction of envy for something positive happened to the other (e.g. "do you like my new car?" -tacci tua....-)
