Border police jeeps leaving Schwandorf barracks in direction towards the Czech border. Vehicle driving along a field path close to Czech border. German Border Police meets American forces patrol. A boundary stone with letters "DB" means Deutsche Bundesrepublik: German Federal Republic, with barbed wire fence in background. German police car drives along Czech border. Czech watch-tower. two men of German border police with telescope looking over to Czechs. On Czech side: a tractor ploughing the border, the so-called "death-stripe". Tank obstacle line background on the Czech side. Again Czech tractor ploughing below Czech watch-tower. Two german policemen looking over to this watch-tower. Close: Czech guard on tower, first looking through his telescope, then going inside tower cabin. German border policeman watching. Vehicle driving on road meeting girl pulling a handcart loaded with branches, two little girls sitting atop branches, winking to police. Sign reading "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" (West Germany) on Czech frontier. ZONAL BORDER (East and West Germany) - Sign reading "Freistaat Bayern" means free state of Bavaria. Another Halt sign indicating We are at the German Zonal Border now. The border of the divided Germany divides here the village of Moedlareuth with 2/3 of the village located in the East German zone and 1/3 in the Federal Republic of West Germany. The wooden fence going through this village in the first years, was replaced in 1957 by a barbed wire fence. The school E.G. is in the East German zone, the schoolchildren of this side of the iron curtain must go to a school in a nearby village Toepen. Vehicle of border police driving on Autobahn which formerly was part of the Autobahn between Munich and Berlin. Vehicle comes to a halt in the middle of the Autobahn bridge over the Saale river near Sachsenvorwerk. The bridge was blown up towards the end of the war. Since it forms the border, it has not been reconstructed. Shot down on to rubble of blown up bridge - rubble lying around for the past 16 years. Again the zonal border - German border police jeep stops policemen looking over to a leather factory "Lederfabrik" at Hirschberg, a "Volkseigener Betrieb" - the zonal authorities call these state-owned factories to winking federal policemen and smiling - but they remain inside their room do not lean out of the window. Three border policemen walking on railroad tra indicating the zonal border. There are only certain control points where the the trains (interzonal trains) go across borders. Close: barbed wire through a divided Germany. END.

It is interesting to see one of the Hitler's designed bridge on the autobahn was cut up in half. He would have been very angry. haha . Had the cold war lasted longer, the two Germans wont get along anymore. They would become a totally two different nations. Lucky for them as they became one just in time, in which I feel east Germans were deprived too much for gaining too little. Bad policies.
