Listening to these new versions just makes me appreciate anew what monumental achievement this album was. Aside from the fantastic compositions and musicianship, Blind Guardian managed to capture the timeless enigmatic qualities of the book like no other group could hope. i daresay even brilliant classical film score composers like Mr Shore would be hard-pressed to match this, simply because BG understand the source material so well. And metal captures the epicness of the story brilliantly.
Word for word, 100% agree with you. I was barely 12 years old when the original Nightfall came out, it made me grab Silmarillion and absorb it. In my mind, it is THE soundtrack to the book. If it ever gets done as a mini-series or something, i hope we get some blind guardian tunes in it.
I still have my fingers crossed hoping for The Silmarillion as an anime series.
I always feel like I'm with Fingolfin crossing the Grinding Ice when I listen to this.
I absolutely cannot wait until this album comes out.
Yes, I searched all over the place for a live recording. It seems they never performed it live... ?
If you look below Melkor, you can see her darkened outline. A few of her legs are visible.

Is there not a full remastered album? I can only find these few tracks.
Nightfall in Middle-Earth was remastered in 2007. 😊
The cover looks like Melkor and the two Trees of Valinor. I can't see Ungoliant if she's there.
bottom right ;)
Don't like this version
@Minicrom The vocals are buried in the mix. The original release was rough but it had good vocal separation.
