17 weeks after the events of Aliens, the Sephora spaceship sends a full battalion of Colonial Marines to investigate the Sulaco spaceship, now in orbit around the LV-426 moon. A massive Xenomorph infestation is discovered inside the Sulaco and several Marines are killed in the initial onslaught. Corporal Christopher Winter, private Peter O'Neal and private Bella Clarison discover that hostile mercenaries working for the Weyland-Yutani corporation are in command of the Sulaco and have been breeding Xenomorphs on board for study. Shortly before both ships are destroyed in the ensuing confrontation, the Marines, along with commander Captain Cruz, Sephora android Bishop and pilot lieutenant Lisa Reid, escape aboard her dropship and take shelter in the ruins of the Hadley's Hope colony complex on LV-426.

Gamer's Little Playground it makes me think of that phrase "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" The tech demo was interesting and promising. And the hype to play as a Colonial Marine was definitely there. The trailers were tense and felt like the '86 movie. I bought the game (and beat the single-player campaign) I kicked myself for being one of those people who falls for a great game trailer. The campaign is pretty lackluster (and don't even get me started on the whole "fighting other humans" thing) I wasn't opposed to the idea of Colonial Marines going at it with Weyland-Yutani PMCs, but how much of the campaign that took up was uncool. The graphics were pathetic, the characters were just lame half-thought military stereotypes, the friendly and enemy AI were buggy. And those are just the complaints I have off the top of my head.
I thought that it’s a way to be in almost like a sequel to Alien 3

@@ReccaWolf It seemed to be a glitch in 4K. Anything above 1080p it started doing that, but it was worth it for the visual fidelity. But little things like that show you how their optimization was

Golden chainsaw for coolest kill goes to Bella, for the classic chestburster, narrowly beating Keyes.
Dull machete for lamest kill goes to every mercenary killed in a gunfight, because that was really annoying to count.

no, because i died multiple times since the AI wasnt as glitched as people whine about. That was patched sometime afterwards. This game isnt as bad as people think. there are times people need to curb their bs takes on games and just enjoy them ffs.

The subtitles are screwed up. If there are two or more lines, they're compacted into each other.
Probably the original script and they cut a bunch to squeeze the game for release.
Agreed, it's terrible, and an embarrassment to the developers.
Is there a video that explains all the things that went wrong with this game? Between the licensing, story, talent, etc., this should have been a triple A game. Did money get stolen/wasted? Bad management? Remakes? Interference? I would seriously like to know why this wasn’t #1. (Was it only the code? Did they not take enough time testing it?)
The short of it is that gearbox was too busy to make the game themselves so they had other indie level dev teams work on the game while they still cashed in segas investment money to work on stuff like borderlands 2 and its respective dlcs, when sega threatened a lawsuit after years pf delays this was the best they scrapped together, barely a years worth of actual development and over 4 years of delays.

I understand why a lot of people hate this game, but I loved it.
The xenomorphs have more of a soul than Randy Pitchford. The CEO of Gearbox that claimed Colonial Marines would be a passion project, when in reality he sold it off to the highest bidder to create instead.

MOD ovarhaull made this game MUCH MUCH BETTER. The DLC "stasis interrupted" story, gameplay& level design is BETTER then the original game.
I liked the game. It wasnt amazing, but it was still fun.

The story is honestly the best part about this game for me. It really does justice to Hicks’ whole character since the third movie just seemed to kill him off and then forget about him. It also actually shows the Marines’ response to what happened in the second and third movies.
Alien: Isolation is still overall better in terms of gameplay and AI, though.
Story was stupid af lol so many plot holes and the way how Hicks survived was terrible wrote lol.
The story is absolutely terrible. There are so many retcons and inconsistencies with Aliens and Alien 3, it's like whoever wrote it never even watched the movies.
When asked who's body was in the pod (Hick's corpse seen in Alien 3) he basically just goes "It's a long story lol, anyways". Like wtf, writing at It's laziest.

I wished not just Ripley and Bishop survived but along with Hicks & Newt were alive in Canon continuity it would have been so much better.

This game had such potential but like all games with good potential development hell doomed the game, getting bein and Hendrickson back was a nice touch and elements of the story were good and the other weapons introduced felt like they existed in this world and the sound affects and soundtrack fit perfectly but it was just a buggy let down

Played it again last week and I had to chase that first encounter alien around.. it wouldn't come out and attack just kept running away I was like "COMMON!! DO IT NOW KILL ME!!!" in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice

looking back wished they’d just made the surviving marine hudson since we all felt hick’s story already ended at alien 3.
Bottom line: The game was poorly executed but was still entertaining to play

im playing through it again right now. Ignored the bs reviews that complained about it.
X box should get a hold of the franchise and add more punch f'n animations. Smarter AI for your assurance and Aliens. Aliens die a little too easy. More dialog some side quest etc. Alien universe is Top Notch and deserves all the little things the movie brought to life.
I can see this style of game music and all taking back off if done right. This game has a very good working skeleton for Series X to build on. #HellaPotential🔥🕹

ONE 40K Space Marine could have cleaned out the whole ship by himself.
I was so disappointed by this game I shut it off and uninstalled it and never looked back around 50% through. I decided to watch Aliens instead and cry over what it could have been.

Wasnt a disappoinment to me. Most here seem like they expected it to be like Battlefield and Call of Duty. To me it does a better job retcon that sh*T story called Alien 3. There are people that like this game. B*tching about Gearbox isnt gonna fix anything, Pitchford still got paid in the end.

The game opens up with you being sent on a mission where they keep telling you every one is dead and as soon as you get there shit is still dying and trying to kill you..but because you have a gun and bullets and will make it to the end of the game...which is the fucking point..it’s somehow not horror? How?
People say dead space isn’t horror survival? Why because you use guns...to shoot horror monsters...to survive.
