Can't wait to get home and watch this. Been watching your channel the last few days. Absolutely loving the use of shadow it's exactly what I love about photography.
Hi there ! Yes it is challenging. So far, from all the European countries I have visited it is the most challenging. I am using a 28 mm indeed. Thanks for watching !
Again, the wonderful movie in the beginning..... Berlin, such a great city, been there, so recognizable ! ! And, as always, so many fantastic photos from you but hey, photo no. 8, is that allowed 😛 That was it and I liked it !
Man, how great would be to watch a movie made by you. These intros are phenomenal. Berlin is a beautiful city but your images made it even better. My favorite shots are 12, 16, and 25. Really nice composition, shadows and layering. Another successful episode. Well done 🔥👏👏👏
Thank you Alexandru ! You really make me work on a video essay :) It takes a lot of time but I need to dedicated sometime to shoot a proper 'movie' :). Thank you for watching and for the kind words :)
@@OctavianCarare I agree with you there. In Berlin, at least, people are so very aware that there is a Data Protection law, and so you have to be careful not take street portraits - street compositions are perfectly legal.
I love Berlin, we're heading over to see my Daughter in a couple of weeks. I have a Leica Q and it's perfect for street photography. Berlin offers so much to capture. Subscribed 😀
I wonder how they would react to photos from Ricoh Gr3? Next time, try to mount the gopro camera on your chest, I think that the Leica Q set and the gopro installed at the top may arouse distrust and fear. Video from Berlin and fantastic photos as always, best regards.
Hi Bart and thank you ! It's true that the Ricoh Gr3 is smaller but I am not sure you can't get away with the gopro on the chest. People seem to be very aware of photographers taking their picture :)
Hello Octavian, still in spite of the “awareness” you manage to capture plenty of nice images. Numbers 13, 15, 18, 20 & 27 are my favorites. Ciao Mauro
@@OctavianCarare attitude towards photographers can vary greatly in different countries but that don't seem to affect the quality of your images or the enjoyment from the trip 😊 May be in a future video you could share your experience in dealing with “street photographers awareness”.
First, closing in on 8K subs, Octavian, nice! Quality post featuring your distinct style. Not too long this time. Did not get the brief face in square at intro clip - was that the guy w/wings? Must be on a diet - no food in this one.🤔 Favs include 1, wing man and wing statue (great proximity capture), 4, silhouette w/framing, 9, balloon head (you’ve done that before) and 13, light capture deep shadow with complimentary negative space. Christmas markets should soon be opening - lots of great photo opportunities, IMO. Are they in your plans? Cheers!
Hi Paul ! As you can see I am going through all comments (well at least yours). I am still on a diet :) The face in a rectangle it's a famous meme :). I didn't do any Christmas markets this year. Had some very busy days working and the weather was absolutely horrible. I am glad I have skipped it this year :)
Nice one! I liked these ones! My favourites were #11 (the black open jacket guys) and #17 (the two middle fingers guy)... questions: 1) do you travel to these cities just for street photography or for other reasons and you do some street photography when you're there? 2) when you travel to new cities for street photography, do you research where to go first or just go in and figure it out on the day?
Thanks ! Glad you liked the 11 and the 17 :) . 1. I do travel to this cities on my own expenses yes (and my budget for this year is depleted :)) ), it's half for visiting and half for doing street photography. 2. Well before going to London I looked on RUclips to POV street photography videos and didn't find something noticeable unfortunately. I do some research where are the potential good areas to shoot but I mostly spend the time in the busy and touristic areas. Sometimes I just figure it out by walking a lot during the day and just stay in a place that it's bubbly and with potential. BUT ideally it would be to meet a local street photographer, that's the best scenario :). Cheers
Hey man, just came to Berlin and itching to meet other photographers & do some photo walks! Are there any meetups or clubs you know about here? Would be down to connect!
I think Germany is very similar to Denmark in relation to be noticed with camera. Can be very difficult unless it is a Pride parade or something similar. This means that you have to be very discrete. Out of Copenhagen it is almost impossible. Summer with more tourism also make things easier.
@@OctavianCarare Well if You act like a tourist You can get away with a lot. But outside of the center of Copenhagen people can be very protective about themselves. We have a data protection law almost like Germany. It can result in an angry look. Some is asking why.
Very naturally done video and I enjoyed the photography overall. The only shot I think you missed was the woman waving the gold flag. If you could have gotten in closer and filled that 28mm more ?
Thank you Rudi ! I fully agree with you on the missed opportunity with the woman with the flag. Actually I wasn't keen on sharing the picture on the video. I took several shots but this one came out decent. I wouldn't share it on my portfolio or social media probably. Thanks for the feedback !
Try to shot in Indonesia, there are many city have people who aware when you are taking photo of them, and that is used to because they are shy be the subject of photography but almost all of them have nice respond
I would love to shoot in Indonesia :) In Berlin they were not quite happy being photographed. Apparently it is illegal to photograph people on the streets :(
People in Germany are very conscious about their privacy. The laws regarding privacy are also very strict in Germany. You can't publish people's pictures without their consent except in very limited circumstances from what I know. This all comes from a history of surveillance heavy regimes in Germany. (The Nazis, and the East German government)
Thanks for the clarification, it make sense now. Just before going to Berlin I watched 'The lives of others' (great movie, recommend it). I guess I am not moving anytime soon to German even though I love Berlin :)
Nice video, thank you. As mentioned in some of the comments below streetphotography in Germany can be a bit annoying. For the photographer, that is... there are some strict rules to obey, at least if you want to publish your photos one way or the other. If you keep them for yourself and do not show them to anybody nearly everything ist perfectly legal, as far as I know. But be it as it may, I would never, never, never dare to point my camera towards strange children (your picture of the fountain) and take pictures of them. German parents might kill you or at least suspect you of child abuse. And THEN kill you...
Thank you Martin ! I would really want to know what happens from a legal point of view if you consider your street photography art, therefore you have an artistic initiative on the public space that includes people as well (not one but a group of people let's say). I will never hesitate pointing my camera to photograph kids AS LONG as their face is not entirely visible on my pictures :) I value a lot the privacy of kids and I never or rarely post pictures with them :). And again, if somebody is concern about me taking people of their kids, they are entirely in their right to come to me (NOT TO KILL ME :) ) but to ask me why do I take pictures of them. It seems reasonable and I can explain and show the result :). Thanks for the feedback Martin :)
Brilliant, as always. BTW, number 1, (the angels pic) is simply awesome!
Thank you Xavier! Cheers!

Great video, I really like the shot of the woman leaning against the wall at the entrance to Hackesche Höfe. gorgeous shadow and light.
Hi Sean ! Thanks a lot ! I love the light in that pictures as well. Not an extraordinary moment but light was beautiful !
