  • This time we head to Eastern Victoria hunting the gully systems. I was using RC 32gram #2 shot at 3.5mm. One fox decided to escape out of the patch. Later a vixen came flying past my blindside requiring a close double shot then reload and fast shot at 50 yards to finish it.
    The foxes were breaking everywhere. 7 down for the day. Every dog was voicing and working, Jagd, Jack Russells and Beagles.

    Couple of rushed shots there mate. Totally understand and great shooting. Love your videos.
    I’m from the northern rivers nsw.
    We hunt the foxes with a mix of about 10 beagles, harriers and fox hounds every Saturday in the winter months. Mostly cane farms these days. About 80% Cane 20% scrub gullies.
    Wild dogs have moved in over the last few years unfortunately and thinned the foxes right out and our dogs don’t like to hunt when they smell the wild dogs. We still get a few every hunt and nothing beats it.
    Keep up the good work ❤

    Great stuff, all your shots seem a wee bit on the low side.

      @dondle2 Yes I've got 4 layers of clothing on because it's that cold and it's messing with my fit.

      @@mchughcb I am in Scotland and I know how you feel, when you are sitting on a hillside for a couple of hours and the temperature is well below zero getting the gun to the shoulder quickly and accurately can be a bit demanding when you are all togged up. All the best.

    That last one… wow. Thought it was missed but on the replay saw it took some of the pattern three times.

      @TK-ul4sy Things happen that fast I needed to slow it down by 8 times so people can see I don't miss much..

    You are always leading well, but sometimes seem to shoot a little low. You could probably improve your results by aiming higher. Great job b.t.w.

      @@leenderttamboer2091 It's a result of too many layers of clothing in the cold. The beretta is fine if I'm wearing a shirt and jacket.

    You need to buy yourself a cheap o/u with a shorter stock for cold days. It's really helped me. Regards from Wales.

      @@robjones1520 I will recommission the triple barrel as it has a shorter stock. Watch this space.

    Thanks for combining two of my favourite things. Great dogs at work and live foxes being turned into good ones..Can I ask what chokes you use in your shotty?

    • @mchughcb
      @mchughcb  Месяц назад

      @SMarkar14 The current chokes are cylinder and improved cylinder. I will probably do a video discussing choke, shot size and payload for foxes later on.
