I just found this channel and my God it was an instant subscribe! The camera work, editing, and the instruction is amazing. This is television quality cooking instruction. Thank you for these amazing recipes (I’ve saved 2 for this weekend) 😁
I cannot recommend this recipe highly enough. I’ve made so many of Marion’s recipes and they’re all fantastic, but the balance of flavours here is spot on. So good!
Thanks for the recipe, Marion. I'm Thai and crispy pork belly is something that I absolutely love, but never get to make myself since it's so much work. Your version looks so simple, and I can tell that it's just as good as with skin on. Can't wait to give it a try!
Fagan I hope you enjoy my version! As you said...it’s so labour intensive to make traditional moo krob at home. So this is a good compromise. Let me know what you think if you try this one out!! 😊
All Thai love this one😋😋 Wow I 've been watching all Pad me a pal made by Western n you are the first one I saw the exactly right Pad ka pao. The others they got wrong ingredients with variously all mix veggie... those are the ingredients that we need like just Marion does... amazing
Try golden mountain sauce, oyster, soy, sugar, chilli, basil, garlic, onion and dash of water when it dries out so it's not too dry and Thai seasoning, which is similar to msg seasoning. This evaluates it and is what it's supposed to be like in traditional terms. In regards to belly you can dry out the skin and cook the skin on the pan till it's crispy then cook the meat part in the oven (cover the skin with foil) This dish with chicken is also amazing (mince or thigh)
Marion, what is this kind of basil called? If I can find the seeds, I can grow them in a pot, like I've done the usual basil. Love Thai food - your recipes are easy to follow.
It's called 'holy basil' or 'hot basil' or 'spicy basil'. In Thailand it's called 'bai grapao'. Definitely worth seeking out the seeds and growing it yourself. It grows every easily like normal Italian basil :-)
If I cooked with that much hot pepper (truely that was very little pepper and the peppers used arent that hot) for my in-laws, they would shoot me. 😁😁😁
I have searched and searched in the US but can’t find anything equivalent to the Thai “spur chili”. At the Hispanic markets, I can find all kinds of of dried chilis (pasillas, chipotle, anchos, cascabels, japones, Anaheim’s, arbol,) and fresh chilis (jalapenos, serranos, Anaheim’s [green], habaneros, scotch bonnets, poblanos and, of course, bells). Does anyone know what I should be looking for?
Yes, can use chicken, shrimp, etc.. It's actually a bit easier b/c you don't have to cook the meat first the way that you do the pork belly, unless you prefer that the protein be crispy. Otherwise you add the meat after the chili and garlic mixture. Look up pad krapow gai for instructions.
That cant be called crispy pork or moo krob if you cut its skin off. I am Thai. However you have a really good bird eyes chilli. That's proper Thai chilli
Oh no, you've misunderstood....what I meant was that this was not moo krob. You'll notice I say that in restaurants they would use moo krob but we are just doing crispy deep fried pork belly. And I am half Thai and I live in Bangkok. But having experience with living overseas and not being able to readily buy ingredients like moo krob, inspires me to try to make recipes that help people to get a similar experience :-)

LOL. What can I say? I love pork belly! 😅
Hi..I'm Thai from Bangkok..
I like your pan, it is Thai style.
This pan is good for making Thai food and/or Asian food
This video had me wanting some that basil and now that I have grown it I'm trying it now
Thanks sooo much you wonderful people at Marion's kitchen!!!

Great recipes, easy to follow, so thanks Marion! Done it second time with homemade Teriyaki Sauce and one teaspoon of oyster sauce and was perfect
Wonderful! I would use Josh Weismann’s crispy pork belly recipe to avoid the deep frying…but that’s 3 hours long…either way, can’t wait to try this
Watching this is not helping my diet but it looks amazing!!! 😫
Sorry Brigitte! LOL

😋Wow 😍
Is Serrano pepper a suitable substitute for the mild pepper? It’s the kind that is available in my are.
Hi Marion! Could you possibly do a recipe for Bún Tôm Nứớng or an adaptation?! My favorite vietnamese restaurant closed :-(
Whats the diff in using cornflour for deep frying?
Hi Marion what oil do you ise to deep fry the pork?
I like to use either vegetable oil or rice bran oil for deep frying :-)
It pains me to remove the skin and eat pork belly without it!
If I cooked with that much hot pepper (truely that was very little pepper and the peppers used arent that hot) for my in-laws, they would shoot me. 😁😁😁
Is pork belly the same part as bacon?
519 Forestmonk yep
It is the same cut of meat. What makes a pork belly bacon is the curing and smoking process.

Go to your local Asian market
Marion, with what would you substitute the sugar for the sweetness in the sauce?
Palm sugar would be fine
Perhaps stevia?
❤️
Can i do this without the chilis? 🙈
of course, it will still have plenty of flavor
Can you substitute dried basil?
I personally wouldn't as it will have a different flavour. It's the fresh basil that gives it the distinct taste.
👍👍👍👌
Can we substitute the pork for some other meat? I'm Muslim but would like to try making this dish.

the skin was the good part.
the thing that makes it crispy is the skin. why would you remove the skin anyway?
