- Lynn demonstrates how to make Ham and Cheese in Puff Pastry. This would be a great lunch time treat or you could cut them in small square to serve as appetizers. You could take these to a Super Bowl party or any other get together you need to have an appetizer. Adapted from Ina Garten.
1 package (2 sheets) frozen puff pastry, defrosted
2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
¼ pound sliced deli ham
½ pound sliced deli Swiss cheese
1 egg beaten with 1 Tablespoon water for egg wash
Preheat oven to 450°. Place a piece of parchment paper on a sheet pan.
Lay 1 sheet of puff pastry on a floured surface and carefully roll out to 10 x 12". Place it on the sheet pan and brush the center with the mustard, leaving a 1" border around the edges. Place a layer first of ham and then cheese, also leaving a 1" border.
Place the second sheet of puff pastry on the floured board and roll it out to 10x12". Place the second sheet on top of the filled pastry, lining up the edges. Cut the edges straight with pizza cutter or knife and press lightly together. Brush the top with the egg wash and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes and serve hot or warm.
*If it starts to get to brown on the top, you can tent it with a piece of aluminum foil.

Wow, this is a really simple but decadent idea. I think it would work well for a any get together. Seems almost like a croissant sandwich, but in a smaller form. Nice!

A great snack to make at anytime. Thanks, Lynn! Very classy!
A delicious appetizer - Ham and Cheese in Puff Pastry!
lynnsrecipes good breakfast dish THO
You could also roll it like a jelly roll if all you happen to have is one sheet of puff pastry in the freezer. Bake it rolled up, then after it's cooled off, slice into bite size pieces. I'd do this with pepperoni and sliced mozzarella also.
Looks so delicious and a clear and simple presentation... As always. Great job !
Thank you! So happy you like the recipe.
Hi Lynn. I really like your version of this dish. I feel the roll up versions I have watched would probably be a little doughy in the middle for my liking. Thank you for sharing. :)
You're welcome! I appreciate you watching the video. This one isn't doughy at all. I am glad that you like the recipe. Have a wonderful Sunday.
So easy and looks great.. can't wait to make some for the kids.
I am going to make it tomorrow for breakfast!!😊
This is a good "template" recipe. You could use almost any combination of fillings. I just thought of "Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar". You could make a batch and have it ready to go for a portable weekday breakfast at 1/2 the cost of Dunkin's or Starbucks.
Great ideas!
Correctamundo
I will put that on my list. I haven't done cornbread yet, but need to do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Goodness, with a cup of soup that could be dinner! Thanks for sharing with us. :)

wow-what a cool idea! could be altered into whatever kind of sanwich you wnat too! I'm gonna have to give that some thought! Thanks!
Really nice. I find that every morsel of the puff pastry is yummy so I wouldn't cut off the edges I would just come from with the fort because that seems to be the whole purpose of puff pastry is to taste that fluffy pastry so that's what I've done is that I've left the edges
Thank you!
Thanks Lynn, for this yummy and easy recipe, I like anything with puff pastry will sure make it this week, can I make ahead of time to take for a brunch at my friends .
You're welcome! I am glad that you like the recipe. I hope everyone enjoy it. I think it would be fine to make ahead.
this LOOKS REALLY delicious Lynn.
you have to try a recipe (same method) where you do the same thing with puff pastry, add spinach, feta cheese, and chopped up dill. it's called a Khachapuri and it's equally delicious.....Have a great day!
karl john That sounds awesome! I will definitely have to try that. I am glad that you like the recipe. I hope you have a great Saturday. Thanks for watching. Lynn

OH wow-i feel a little less crappy now-i got bronchitis a week before x-mass, and i still have the cough....BUT at least i dont "feel" sick anymore. The first two weeks were aweful though...and teh first few days i wanted to die since i had a fever that even tylenol only put a small dent in....first time i had a fever in YEARS! I wish you a speedy recovery from whatever you have! Its a bad year for illness!
Thanks! It is really delicious and that is a great comparison. I appreciate you watching. Have a great weekend.
I do this with crescent rolls. Tasty.

Sounds like a great place!
I will try to find one! I don't have one, but will do some research and see what I can come up with.
Thank you! I think you could definitely put more in - just make sure you leave about an inch border to seal it up. I hope you enjoy it.
yummy, and easy to make. i defenetely make this on weekend with lemonade :)
Lynnsrecipes is a great channel for easy and delicious recipes, she gives you all the ingredients you need for the recipe on her videos, non of that "go to my website nonsense". Highly recommended!
Looks so good :)
Im wondering whats he best dip for this recipe 😊
Maybe a honey/mustard type of dip would work well with the ham and cheese.
mmmmm so delicious Lynn! thank you
This looks very delicious Lynn! It's so easy to make too. Have a beautiful and blessed day!
P.S. Your jewelry is gorgeous!!!
Love,
Amy
You can definitely substitute for the ham. I would suggest turkey. If you don't care for turkey, just use your favorite lunch meat and whatever cheese you like that goes with your choice. This is a great recipe to customize to your own particular need or taste. Hope this helps. Have a great weekend.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you! Yes, you could tailor this to suit your own taste. Thanks for watching.
Lynn your Ham and Cheese puff pastry look so delicious. I will definitely have to give this a try, thank you for sharing.:)
Thank you so much. Looks easy to do. I saw you brushed the puff pastry with mustard. Can I use Mayo instead? I don't like mustard much. Will it bake ok with the mayo?
I'm being a bit of a sphincter police here, but doesn't that French rolling pin drive you crazy? Because it's thicker in the center and thinner on the ends, you wind up rolling out something thin in the middle and thick on the edges. That would drive me crazy.
Puff pastry is amazingly versatile. Great idea!
Gregg's I think is a UK Pastry shop filled with cakes, pastries, snacks, drinks plus more!!
You had me at puff pastry! This is a great idea. :)
Thank you!
Actually, I just googled substitutions, and it was suggested that wax paper would be the substitute. You may want to spray, but not sure since puff pastry has so much butter. It would probably be fine just on the wax paper. I love the non-stick aluminum foil and use it often, so that may be something else you could try. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your reply Lynn, it's good to know that I can cook ahead of time, later do I warm it up in oven fo 5min.
You're welcome!
so good
Holy tomatoes that looks nomnomnom!
Thank you, so much. I appreciate you watching.

Love,

This looks so delicious and easy to make! Is it possible to put even more cheese slices in it or would that make the pastry harder to seal up? I will definitely be trying this :)
Thank you! I appreciate you watching.
Thank you!
Yumm!!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching.
I'm going to make these using honey ham and a light cheddar cheese and no mustard I'm also going to scramble three eggs over easy for the side

man that looks good, problem is i would end up eating the whole tray.
Thank you! I am glad that you like them. I appreciate you watching.
Yep!
Thank you! I am sure that foil would work. I hope you all enjoy it. Let me know how it turns out for you.
Great!
;-)
you said it all
Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy it.
Looks good and something I might actually be able to make myself. I'm not a big mustard fan though. I wonder what else could be used? I'm thinking maybe BBQ sauce? TJ's sells a carmelized onion spread. I bet that would be wonderful too...
Thank you! You could surely try the BBQ sauce. I haven't ever made it that way, but it sounds like it would give it a different, but good flavor.
Try béchamel, a white sauce. It's made from butter, flour, milk, and s&p. Make your sauce and while it's cooling layout your puff pastry with the ham and grated cheddar cheese. I use white aged cheddar. It looks more aesthetically pleasing because it's the same color as the sauce. When the béchamel is cooled, pour it over the tart and cover it with another layer of pastry. Crimp the edges, cut vent holes, brush with beaten egg, and bake. Yum!
Why has Gregg's not discovered ur fantastic pastry!?!?!?!?!
I hope you feel better.
Nice
Thank you!
