I think California is really doing the right thing. I’m not big on the State of California’s government, however, California is really doing good things in this manner.
Kaplan and CalBar are creating a Study Guide, which will be given to those who register at no additional cost. CalBar dropped the Written Section of the FYSLX for Jun 2024, and had been planning on dropping the NCBE during the Blue Ribbon Commission on the Future of the California Bar Exam voted to lose the MBE (NCBE) then... so it is not out of the blue, I was at all of those meetings. The MCQ's for the "Bar Exam" are flatly stupid, what they OUGHT to be are something which will actually make us far superior to the insulting goal of "minimum competence!" Further, the Written Section of the CGBX out to be dropped with the exact same logic used to drop the Written Section on the FYLSX... it fails to be indicative of success as a Newly Licensed Lawyer. Stand by - we're working on it!
new CA bar exam in 2028 goes into effect, requires 2 year notice for all Cali law schools, provided that they finish their content by 2026. There's an agree ment between CA bar + Kaplan to finish exam by 2026, then they will notify all law schoools in California about new subjects to be tested and they will begin new exams by 2028. New subjects to be tested --- on CA bar exam employment law administrative law state planing trust and probate family law No longer tested --- business associations remedies wills trusts community property Survivors those old subjects tested on CA exam --- contract torts criminal law procedure real property constitutional civil procedure professional responsability
