The wide angle camera lens really distorts the perspective so it's harder to gauge the real size of those backpacks compared to your body.

used the 28 for a school bag from middle school through high school, still holding up great.

I bought a Kanken 17 first and returned it to get the Raven 28. Definitely one of the best backpacks for its price. It does well with under-the-seat personal item air travel. Also great for EDC. I do note that the prices have gone up. Still even at the present price, the Raven 28 is worth it.

Got the 28 for my daily backpack and it's amazing.

Amazing review! Effective and straight to the points. Nice comparison of sizes and compartments. Great to see them packed with real items, Thanks!

Very helpful comparison. Can you do same for Skule 20 and 28?

I have the kanken laptop 17. I needed a bag that was squared and fit close to dimensions needed for a "personal bag" on the airline I fly most. Might be worth looking into as well.

Note: it's all I take when traveling. This bag is smaller than the standard "carry on" size. I can live out of it for a week no problem.

It's a good thing that they list the 20L as being able to hold laptops up to 15 inches in size.

How do you know if a 28L is too tall/long for you?

I've been rocking the 28l for about a year now. Not a bad pack. Only thing that sucks is I swear it's gonna roll down a hill one day or off a cliff.

Absolutely 0% chance this guy is 6ft and 165lbs. 140lbs or 5'9, one or the other. That out of the way, I use the 28 liter Skule as my day hiking/fishing/hunting pack and it's the best day pack I've ever used. Comfortable, can take a beating, and great design.
