A Sparrow Rescue Documentary

- A short documentary of how we rescued this abandoned baby bird in the summer of 2014.
As it was found in a flower pot on day one of its life, we kept it warm, safe, and fed, later naming her 'Sammie The Sparrow' once her feathers came in, allowing us to recognize her as a sparrow.

Great sir. From India 👍
This is so beautiful your a great father !
Yea he will be so ready
Thanks for helping animals!
Great Mike for rescuing such a tiny creature and raising and letting it be free out in the nature. May God bless you
I absolutely adore watching your bird rescues! You're a wonderful friend to these little creatures! Thank you and keep making these lovely videos!
Just beautiful. I found one this weekend and I managed to keep it alive until this morning. I found a "bird rescue" who took it from me and I'm sure they will do a better job. I had to ward off 4 cats and 2 dogs all weekend. My anxiety was crazy high!! But I didnt want this poor little bird to die.
Mike, truly you are a bird whisperer Thank you for your touching, inspirational stories. I garden and hear the birds but I have a new understanding of their presence. I hope I get to know more about my bird occupants. Thank you
What to feed 1day old sparrow ?
Wish everybody who finds a helpless animal would be like you. I do that too. We have 3 sparrows from the street and they grew up with us. But they wouldnt stay alive outside. One of them has only a half wing on one side. All of them have no fear from dogs because we have a dog and they fly in the same room with the dog. We try our best they will have a good and long life....
Love you and the bird keep doing thanks
Man... you’re such an inspiration to me... thank you so much for doing this video... I got a baby sparrow fell from a tree, I’m doing my best to keep him alive and healthy... your videos are a big help... thanks again
Great work
So sweet..I raise a baby pigeon, it's amazing, you love such a bird like your baby!
Beautiful video 😍❤️
Thanks. I used to not care for Sparrows but then the stinkin Starlings way overwhelmed the neighborhood and I grew to dislike the Starlings and like the Sparrows. I remember being in Holland in early 2011 and Crows dominated the air. For some reason, I just feel uncomfortable when an eco-system appears to be overpopulated with one species. Nature works but sometimes it is annoying. Good job. I like your Sparrow.
What a kind man.
These are wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing Mr. Mike!
very good job Mike! Thumbs up! these cute little sparrow...
Bad job! He haven't cooked it, wasted a perfectly pink and helpless baby snack. Adult snacks (known also as sparrows) are not fun to eat.
@@TovKafur oh my God sicko you're everywhere
@@mariyamashraf5199 These ugly fuckers should be opposed at every step. In every house they should be welcomed only with hate and wickedness well deserved. My crusade will end only atop an Everest of tiny pink bodies, with few remaining baby birds fully accepting their fate as slave race.
This is heart-warming 💚 Well done!
Yes, on Day 97, she finally flew away, never to return to my shoulder. Up until then, we would go outside, and she would stay in the area for about 20 or thirty minutes, until she came back to my shoulder, or the cage, and back in side. One day she stayed out all night, then back in the morning. Finally, she stopped coming back. There is more about this on one of my other clips...
View this one, it contains some different photos and video footage of Sammie as she developed:

Mike Franzman maybe she found a partner and started her own family. Amazing story. Love and kindneds.
Nice
Nice
Female sparrows are said to fly around and search for mates, while males wait and defend their territory. That's why I'm hoping my male sparrow will never leave me.
But still, interesting fact with the 97 days. I'm still around one month, so we'll just have to wait and see...
Mike Franzman That’s so sad 😭😢😭😢😭😢😭😢
GREAT VIDEO LOVED IT
Such a lucky guy to have found you
Good job, thanks for sharing.
Precious baby ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I got to see it let go and flying haha, came across this somehow. 👍🏻 fantastic job
Awesome work, Mike!
You are so amazing. You're an 👼 angel to rescue and resuscitate such tiny, newly born foundlings.
Very nice Sir, amazing
Cute little documenting of your experience. That was a male bird, for what it's worth. You can tell by the black plumage developing on the chin and chest.
Verry verry nice cute pett
Precious
Love your bird rescues
Love your vids 👌
So nice
I just rescued a baby sparrow. And it's day 3 and I am already so attached. How will I let it go when it's all grown😭😭😭
how did it go?
Great story.
Beautiful!!
I miss my birdie 😭 💔
I found a baby sparrow in my yard years back, and tried to save him but he died, I didn't know what to feed him or how to raise him ...His name was Petie McPeep ...!
You're awesome with birds.
Very cute
Soooooo cute
Cuteness overload ❣️❣️❣️
Wow ! 14 days to have all feathers grown.
This is so wholesome
This is too cute
God bless you
I know they are classed as a pest, but they just want to survive like we all do.
The only pests on earth are humans who kill animals and each other
What type of seeds do you feed her and what else do you give her! Please is important as I'm taking care of one less than a week! I know they don't eat seeds when they're young ,but justvto prepare! Thnx .every tip would help
You can feed mealworms. Cut them into half and use tweezers
God bless 🙏 you
Allah is great and Only One Subhan Allah
That’s amazing😊. What did you feed it when it was so little and how often? Can it survive out in the nature? Thanks for sharing👍🏻😊
Little birds can be given an assortment of things to eat. For say, you'd wanna give it something high in protein, however being very young it might struggle digesting it. So whilst worms, bugs and what not are amazing, they might not be the best for the first two days. You'll want something like dried cat food, which you will soak up in water (it's a must) and combine it with fruits, anything acidic. Oranges, pineapple(small amounts) and berries. After the 2nd and 3rd day you can already start feeding the bird mushed up bush (just squish them) preferably either worms or bugs you can identify, nothing poisonous or venomous. Sunflower seeds are also amazing, birds love them, you can feed them corn that's smashed up (even the bagged ones we used to make food, it's called mamaliga in Romanian). After 4-5th or maybe 6th day (depends on birds) I would leave worms on the floor and try to teach it to eat them. How? Feed her normally but make the bird need to go a bit more forward to actually take the food, rather than placing it in their beak. They should get the idea.
Oh, and avoid bread. Whilst it's not necessarily killing them it'll clog their intestines.
But yeah, birds can pretty much eat anything, including meat. Insects are better since they digest them easier and have way more protein and nutriments. Just remember, if they only eat from you, you will need to provide them with water. Either in the form of fruit or mashed up seeds combined with it.
Anarchist Sintek Thank you so much for all this.
Hope I will not fin a bird but If I do I know how to help it😊. Have a nice day.
@@vforsejrv7801 There's a lot of things I don't know either, that's just what works for me. But I live in Romania and have only tended pidgeons, sparrows and owls. So maybe seek assistance on a video that isn't 4 years old, heck, pm me anytime and I will reply. There's the ASPCA or whatever shelter in your country, call a vet and ask him or even just ask your bird enthusiast on google. Ask it on reddit and so on. Many wonderful places to get responses. Although use common sense.
@@vforsejrv7801 I mean, birds might eat meat, but cooked chicken isn't the greatest. Grilled is a lot better, however insects have more protein, heck, I ate a lot of crickets and ants myself, they taste nice. So keep that in mind, your regular taratula owner can tell you how to make bugs get gutloaded by feeding them stuff, so the birb gets nutrients from the stuff the bugs eat.
Anarchist Sintek Im in Denmark. But I dont have a bird right now. It was just in case of. I think bugs would be the greatest. Thanks again👍🏻👍🏻😊

Hello Mike and thanks for beatiful video... I just found little sparrow yeasterday on the my way home.. Saw videos and feed him right but the thing is i wanna let him go after he grow up.. C t find eny information how should i do that:( Maby you have some good tips for me? Thanks in advance! Gaida
Only 2-3% of sparrows will meet their second birthday, and this one is both half-domestic and weak. So instead of returning it to the wild you can just drown it, it would be more or less same result (also wonder how baby bird actually behaves during drowning).
I love birds
If mike stoklasa had a soul this is what he'd look like
Great job bro.
amazing! :)
This morning sparrow babies in my home came out of their nests, they were exploring the outer world but unfortunately a cat ate both of them. It's disheartening but still it is what wildlife is😢

Hi there. We raised Spoggy the sparrow from one day old and so this really brings back memories. But that is a male sparrow. The black feathers on his chest mean Sammie is a boy! :-)
what did u feed
Help me out...3 times I tried but failed, I think I gave water when feeding n accidentally killed her. What do u feed very early on? What about water do give it or not and when and how much? Do u feed at night? And what do ya do for warmth? It's been bugging me for years, what did I do wrong....😑
You might not have done anything wrong, the great majority of found, abandoned baby birds don't last more than a day. I never recommend giving them water, because it is easy to drown a baby bird. They also could swallow it wrong and get pneumonia, and perish over the next few days, because of water.
We recommend just giving them moist food, like the mother would regurgitate: high protein, even human Gerber baby food that is high in protein, Gerber chicken, or multi grain cereal that you stir with water to a smooth consistency. The main thing, is that you tried, and helped. :-)
Critter Crazy same a baby bird i tried to help passed the other day he was a robin with a broken leg sadly i think he got dehydrated and passed.....
Bellissimo.
Plez tell me what i give to my one day old sparow baby

@@2Fat2Furi0us thank you!
@@2Fat2Furi0us i found a baby sparrow in my yard, he was on the sun for about at least 2 hours (outside was very hot, i can't believe how he survived)
I think he is 3 or 4 days old. i made him a source of heat with a old motherboard, with a processor and a heatsink and i made him a nest with a little watch box, made it confy and i stacked some stuff in between the heatsink to regulate the temperature and it works very well. He is a fighter. Nature didn't gave him chance, so i will try my best to raise him.
I've come across finding a sparrow just recently. I tried to find the nest but I didn't have any luck. I had took him home not wanting him to get hurt, considering he's only a hatchling. I researched as soon as I returned home with him. I called the Wild Rescue but they are too far from my area, and I have no way of getting the poor thing to a Rescue clinic. So I've had to take on raising it as of for now.
Do you have anyyyy tips on how I can keep him in the right heating he needs?
I found out I could give them cat kibble (moistened) I learned about keeping the body tempature at a certain level.
He even began chirping this being the 2nd night, more than the first night I've found him. He's not chirping too much and not too less, I don't know if he's uncomfortable or hungry. I really wish I'll soon find a way to bring him somewhere where he can be looked after
Greatly
The music did NOT fit this 😂😂. Beautiful bird though
At what age could you feed this baby seeds?
I found a baby sparrow yesterday, what do I feed it?
I'm not sure if this is your story. If so can you give me some advise. my sister will be bringing me one looks to e about a week old maybe a Lil less. What was fed to this baby bird as a tiny baby? and if u have any other advise I'll love to know.. thank you.
I'm also do research right now at 11pm. I'll contact my vet and will life in the morning for more advise.

Hi Mike .. pls let me know if we can make some chatting. I have small sparrow since 4 days .. I wanna discuss with u about feeding .. my bird wanna eat all the time. I don't know if it is healthy or may kill him. I didn't feed him alit even he asking 😅. Guide me please
Nice. My wife has a pet sparrow she raised since he was featherless also. He won’t leave her side. We thought it was a female at first. Not. He is a little over 2 years old now. How is your bird doing?
sir, what you feed for the chicks when their eyes are not opened.. please guide me.. and feeding pattern for the next 4weeks ?
Milk, lots of water, some birdseed. But better just fry them in a microwave, really.
Hello Mike i rescued a baby today from my garden i think he felt. I dont know if is furt but he seems ok.Try to fly but only 30 cm aprox. i want to feed him but i dont know with what? Should i let hit free in house we dont have pets or în a small box? I hope you reply soon.

😭😭😭😭
I was giving baby food, but the grains that makes sense... and no water... I'm pretty sure that was the doom cuz she was growing good to that point. But how often do u feed and is it round the clock? Anyway thanks for the reply it is appreciated 🐦
I have a baby sparrow that I found laying in the corner of my horse stall. I took it home, and it seems fine other than it doesn't have an appetite. i've had to very carefully and easily try and force feed it. Once I get the syringe in it's mouth, it starts to feed. Is this normal because it's stressed out? Do you have any tips or advice that could help me? ❤
Its not good to feed birds milk products because they are not mammals and do not suckle. You are a blessed person for trying though.
Why people give name too a wild bird and then you get attached and hard to let him goo
can i ask how often you had to feed during the night when she was a few days old? ive currently got one whos 2 days old and im not sure how often to feed him. thanks
The birds do not eat after dark, so as long as the lights are out, feeding not necessary
Do you ever name your rescues?
Hi Mike, she looks lovely ! I have a question. How old was she when started to be confident with her flying ? I rescued one 10 days ago, she must have been 10 days old. I'm also feeding her puppy dog food with a syringe and I want her to start eating alone. Any tips? Thank you!
Hi how about your sparrow is giving dog food worked fine?
So...do they ever come back to visit? Any of them?

I am here to witness the gospel of our Salvation to lost souls.
How can a lost soul get saved? Here's how!!
If you haven't trusted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, TODAY is the day of your Salvation, please accept your free gift that was purchased and paid for the sins of the whole world.
Romans 6:23 kjb - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The Gospel (the good news)!!
Salvation is not your 'good works', 'religion' or 'rituals', it's God's Work On The Cross. Religion says you have to do something. Jesus Christ said, "IT IS FINISHED".
Jesus Christ is God, manifest in the flesh and He came on earth to die for our sins. He bore our sins on the cross of Calvary. Have you accepted His free gift of Salvation? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour? Have you truly BELIEVED from your heart that Jesus Christ is LORD? Have you BELIEVED in the death, burial and resurrection found in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KING JAMES Bible? That's how a lost soul can get saved. Remember that it's NOT what we do that gets us saved, it's what Jesus Christ DID on the cross of Calvary, that's what SAVES a lost soul.
Ephesians 1:13 KJB - SAVED and SEALED until the day of redemption.
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJB - 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Take this opportunity and please accept your free gift of ETERNAL LIFE now because time is running out. Please get saved before it's too late for your soul!!
John 3:18 kjb - He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Heaven and Hell are REAL, LITERAL places.
There's ONLY 1 Eternity to choose from, Heaven or Hell, choose wisely for your soul!!

i have a robin that is still a nestling. your robin documentary did not cover how to care for a nestling, any tips?
Hii Franz plz tell me how I can save sparrow'sbaby it would be like the 2 or 3 days only is water nd food providing will be sufficient?
Don’t try to give them water, or they will drown. Just make sure that any food you give them is damp, and you will be fine. Keep them warm, they were plenty of informational sources on the Internet that I looked up when I was feeding mine, they will tell you different types of proteins, and what temperatures they need to be at at which days, etc. I am not a licensed rehab or, everything I learned was off of the Internet. If it is possible to put them back in the nest, that is always the first, best option. The parent bird will do all of this instinctively.
@@mikeyfranz thank u so much u r a great inspiration and best example of humanity.
it,s a shame you didn,t say what you fed it on in the early days , but well done !
is it normal for a baby bird to be crying a lot..? or not crying.. im not sure what its called.. but i found a baby bird.. i believe about 2 or so days old already.
Funny chirping is a part of normal baby snack behavior. It signals that snack is ready to be consumed. You have to put it on a pan and fry it a bit, cute dino is only happy to be eaten.
We also tried to save one but it always would come out from its nest and would never come back so we had to do that but yesterday and today we forgot to do it and a stray cat ate it.the sad part is is that they were 14 days old and there mother dosen't know that they are eaten so she is still looking for them.😔😢😔😭
What did you feed him when he was a baby
How did you keep it warm? I found a newborn that had taken a 9 foot fall to concrete and was still alive but he only lasted 2 days. I kept him warm using a reptile heating pad which was covered with a folded T-shirt, I also place a dish of water on the heating pad to provide humidity, it was 90 degrees and 80% humidity. Still he stopped eating after 2 days and passed away, I used the same baby bird formula Kaytee Exacty as I had on other baby birds. Just curious if you simply covered him or also used a heater. This is my third bird rescue but my first Sparrow so young. I am guessing the fall did some internal damage.
thanks
xoomvids baby sparrows shouldn't be fed that as babies they are insectivores... there is a recipe that can be found for a proper mash for them on a Sterling forum sorry name has escaped me right now but it's 1 cup of dry dog food or cat food you need a high quality one with chicken as first ingredient, it should be as close to 30% protein 9% fat as you can find, soak the kibble to get to a soft thick oatmeal consistency, I boiled egg, 1/4 cup apple sauce, 750 mg calcium (time solved in water) and avian vitamin supplement (follow dosage on packaging) mix together we'll portion it and freeze it taking out and defrosting as needed in microwave as it spoils after an hour...
also never place water in with a baby sparrow it gets all the moisture needed from it's food and the aphixiate when water is given
your heat was right 90 degrees who knows maybe it was the fall it s a miracle getting a baby to survive a day imo and you did well by it at least it died warm and comfortable vs cold and alone right0
