- Exploring a recently abandoned hotel, this explore was actually the same day we explored the abandoned swimming baths a few videos prior to this one, hence the same urbexrs in this video

Oh man, this brings back loads of memories. I worked there for over 18 years so very strange to see it looking like this.

Usually I delete shit like naming locations but this hotel has now been demolished
Nice place and no alarms! Good on ya, you got to see the place post-liquidation-pre-vandalized! Full day of exploring must have been great. Cheers again!

This is horrible to watch for me personally, I used to use the gym here weekly and it suddenly shut, pre Covid I must add. I feel sorry for all those who lost their jobs. I live round the corner from here and the locals were very upset to hear of the hotel closing. So sad to see how it's degraded in just a matter of months. Another interesting video, keep safe team.

Stayed there a number of times sad to see its demise. Always liked those bedrooms you explored near the end and interesting to see behind the scenes where a guest doesn’t get to go. Didn’t realise how big the place was. Always a friendly welcome there feel sorry the staff have lost their livelihood. Really enjoyed your explore.

Highlight of the week Alec waiting on you uploading a new video. Initially I thought this might be the Normandy Hotel but when you gained access and proceeded to show how sprawling the place that thought went out the window. So sad to see a business on its knees and try to recoup some of its losses by selling off everything. I don’t think it will be long before this place could be completely ransacked and trashed. Hope none of their previous guests asked for a room with a view cos I. Think they might have been a wee bit disappointed. Perhaps you need some subtext for your overseas viewers eg ‘ it’s howling in there’ translates as room service had not been in attendance that day . 😂Many thanks for sharing 👍

My graduation ball was in this hotel in June 2019 and I felt it was tired looking then didn’t realise it had been abandoned
Only closed at beginning of 2020,with promises of it only being mothballed.Demolished November 2020.The famous Aberdeen treetops.

Yeah they should not be doing this if I was near here I would of rung the police and got them arrested for breaking and entering a premises which has close down

There's nothing in this video that has said they've broken and entered! If they found an opening then they can enter as there is no trespassing laws in Scotland either😅
The very fact they never showed you the 'opening' speaks VOLUMES...
@@AlanRafferty doesn't really speak any volumes tbh, could be the fact they found entrance doesn't mean it was breaking in! Could be the fact they don't want potential vandals going in and burning it! Can already see you've found them guilty without facts🙃

Yes it’s very sad when you see a business like that go to the wall. Especially as it cost people their jobs. Do you know why the Hotel closed down? And what it was called?
The hotel was a franchise of DoubleTree by Hilton, it was called the DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen Treetops. It closed down due to bankruptcy:(

Yep I was there when the place folded my last day was the Tuesday before valintines day after we got hit with the bad news on the Monday at 3pm I had wondered why they were dropping the "Hilton" name seemed rather odd but soon found out

It closed before Covid last year. Given up by the hotel chain that owned it and no one took over
Now demolished it was owned by Hilton before it closed they pulled out of this and their beach hotel just before covid really hit. More a down turn in the oil industry. I know a few folk in the retirement flats who bought there because of the hymn and pool avaliability

I met Stephen Hendry there at a snooker and dinner evening in the late 80s. Also had a drink there after my uncle's funeral. Sadly now demolished.

It was sad to see it like this, I have stayed in this hotel many times with my coach parties.
I always enjoyed my time here, went for a swim too. It was always a pleasure to stay, you got a tasty warm cookie when you arrived.
I wish it was the Britannia hotel that had closed, it's an absolute dump! It went on fire a few years ago, unfortunately the firemen saved it!
There's another abandoned hotel near the beach, don't know if you could get in to explore, it was an excellent hotel too.
Looked like it was a very nice spot to stay. Shame left like that. Huge complex.

The staff got told one day in Feb 2020 that the hotel was closing with immediate effect

I just google it says they would be open throughout Covid
It closed pre COVIC so I’ve heard. Still very sad, as it would of cost people their jobs😒

@@Corkedwolf43771 It's weird though, they must have bee doing something inside that was open to the public (just selling the stuff it was showing toward the end of the video?) as thy had social distancing markers on the floor, which didn't exist anywhere until during the pandemic.

A management team has bought over this chain of hotels , so they'll be open again at some point.
When did that happen.last I heard they were thinking of turning the hotel into flats.

Looked like the employees came back and had a drinking party and trashed some of it. But left some bottles in case they had to come back.... Very sketchy showing that window that lifts out from the outside xD. And because you can't watch every person who goes in with a group that size, if something is broken your all responsible... I do love your video's but don't show us the way you get in please, it could get you into trouble.
This is so sad. Been to many xmas works nights out at this hotel.

You guys should check out John Rogers exploring videos, doesn’t invade buildings but they are much more interesting because he somehow includes the viewer in the journey with info and speaking through the camera. Yours are ok, due to the natural curiosity but there’s no empathy with you and your journey. Fair play though for not damaging, only documenting!

No it's not always cold this summer has been quite warm for a change but when it is cold it's bloody freezing.
Really appreciate the trip, looks like it was a very nice hotel. It's a shame it closed.
Poor management staff were kept in the dark from Oct 2019,company stopped communication and ran the place up until staff were informed in February of 2020 at a shock meeting I'm a former employee it was a nice place to work tbf had it not gone rupt I'd still be there as breakfast chef.
Demolition has now started round the back. Was only suggested a month ago so it's moved pretty fast. Was bought by a house builder so inevitable
Shame their knocking it down. The hotel is still in such good condition.

Such a shame, this will be the case with many wedding venues and hotels in Scotland in the 'New Normal' With little or no funding to help keep these places afloat.

Was the Hilton Treetops, on the way to Hazlehead Park. There's a Hilton at the beach too, also closed down.
There was a ghost town near where I lived too - nobody bought the houses for some reason.

Don’t understand why the people who have made this video,would want to make a video of this!All there doing is letting people see its not open but it’s accessible to enter .To me these people are doing more harm than good,maybe they need to stop filming outside the premises as this is letting too many people know where they are.
If I decide to ditch the country, I know where to go, just find an abandoned building 😜

So sad, and all I can assume is that the funding company refused to help and the owners were essentially evicted. The crazy thing is, this place will begin to degrade very quickly, the numbskulls will come along and smash it up. The nett result will be a zero-value property, all because of the short-sighted attitude of those who funded it. The owners will have lost their livelihood, the investors their money. If the investors had used their little grey cells and been a little more patient, the good times will come back and they could have recovered their investment. Unfortunately, in the UK, long-term thinking is hampered by short-term greed and financial avarice.
