Travel Guide to Utila Honduras, Transportation,Food, Diving centers first experience.

Utila is one the bay Islands of Honduras, in the Caribbean north of the mainland. its know for its coral reefs and many dives sites, this last one being the main reason for my visit. I went to Utila to get my Open Water Diver Certificate. process that I enjoyed a lot and a challenge that will be in all future conversations with friends.
the population in the Island is 4160
the island is 6 miles long and about 1 mile or so wide.
90% of the people in the Island are visitors, and in the majority scuba divers instructors and student that come to get their certification,

21 years ago it was paradise. No scooters or Richshaws buzzing around. Nothing but the silence of a few Golf carts or bicycles or people walking. Now, though still better than a lot of places, it looks paradise lost. I paid $6.50 a night for a small house with kitchen at Blueberry Hill. What's it cost now?

Utila is probably one of the most beautiful places to visit in Honduras, and it's well worth the bumpy ferry ride to get there!

the room in Utila was part of the package of the diving class. but if you want to know you can google Mango hostel in Utica and try to get the prices that way.
