Absolutely love you fellas. Totally real and down to earth, not full of yourselves, just straight down the line letting your incredible builds do the talking. Found the updraft of the concrete and pit a very interesting detail. Never stop being you! 👌
Happy 4th July mate! No treason. It was just one bunch of Brits have an argument (OK a civil war) with another bunch of Brits. The French took sides and the Parliamentarian Monarchists headed north! Mind we did get our own back on Napoleon a couple of years later.
Really very interesting with the pit installation and Nat you know you're stuff with buoyancy loads ! The Toyota really is a case of to see is to deceive and a candidate for the shortest prop shaft ? Stu's doing terrific work on the Moggie ...talk about a quart into a pint pot ! I recognised the XJC but for me it's a no no regarding the number plate . Thanks Nat .Always a Buzz watching Retropower .
Me too, I was thinking I should have my V12 engine from my XJC restoration project done by Tom Lenthall, then he said it was about £21k, I quickly changed my mind.
Wonder if Retropower use the same loom builder that is holding up Harry’s build for the next 4 months, or if not maybe they could step in and take over the job ?
You had me at more XJC stuff to come, beautiful cars I had one in triple racing green when I was about 25 paid £500 for it, no one wanted them and sold it on a year later for what I paid for it, young, dumb fool or what, I’d love one with an LS3 conversion same British racing green, green vinyl roof with green interior, said it before but such a fan boy of your work
So glad to hear someone else say how rubbish harnesses are in a road car!! I put some in my recent build project without even thinking about it. As soon as I drove it I remembered how much I hate the bloody things!! It now has inertia reels...... My excuse is it's 10 years since I sold my last harness-equipped car, and I'm old and just forgot :)
Hi Lads! Thanks for another great episode and update. I also appreciated that during the walkthrough you left the tarpaulin off the work-in-progress Merc sports, so we could have a little peek! (Thank you). 👍🇬🇧
Another great update video. Enjoying the added civil engineering. But maybe lose the plastic bottle next time, as its quite noisy. Maybe get some Retropower Stainless Steel bottles in.. Keep up the good work everyone 👍🏼 👍🏼
Interested in the Morris Minor seat belt. What inspections will it need? When I built my kit car the SVA regulations changed during the build and the upper mount had to be much higher. Effectively to make sure there is no downward pull on the collar bone in an accident.
Love these weekly updates of your amazing work. Do you ever video the completed projects once they're out on the road. would love to see and hear them being driven in anger...
When one hits a speed bump that can't be climbed over, one either readjust the suspension hight to climb over it, or finds a way around it. Either way job still gets done.😉🙂👍👍
You ceep saying "watch this space" I'm not shure what you mean bu that. Never heard anybody else say that before. Is that normal english or is it something like slang/dialekt? Pleace inform me. Great work on the cars boys!
There's no such thing as overkill when getting pits into floors - I've been in too many that either felt as if they were floating or so full of unmentionable materials that one felt sorry for one's boots
It's bizarre that the rear ledge is always referred to by Brits as "the parcel shelf". It's about the most dangerous place to put a parcel which will become a missile in the event of a frontal crash.
The term originates from a time before seatbelts, so the parcel becoming a projectile wouldn’t have mattered as much, because you’d already have been ejected through the windscreen by the time it reached the front of the interior. It’s just one of those terms that’s lived beyond its origins, like ‘glovebox’... They’re rarely used for gloves now.
Haha...I saw one in a supermarket carpark here in Melbourne a couple of months ago and was struck by it's length - massive!!...to each their own but I reckon the regular XJ6 (mk I) has better proportions, making use of the wheel base length. The E Type is of course overrated but still an immortal design, particularly in early Drophead form
Would you guys ever try and do a electric conversion? I am not a huge fan of it yet i think you guys could come up with something epic, say a MGB conversion or Triumph GT6
There is a guy in the USA who is putting a Tesla battery pack and drive unit into a Jaguar MkIV with a Mustang front end. He is on YT but it would be a bit cheeky to link it here! But you are right a Retropower eCar of any sort would be awesome.
@@creamwobbly Yep thats the guy. I like it that he isn't ashamed to show when he has cocked up or noty got the right answer. Its how life is. But I wish he'd found some wire wheels and not used the Tessla discs. And no. Nuclear powered steam is quite acceptable 😂
Mercury power company here in NZ converted a 57 Fairlane using a 2nd hand German bus motor as a promo car. Pretty cool actually google meet evie mercury energy. Couldn't find a link to share sorry
Harry, of Harry's Garage, just spent 21,000 Pounds rebuilding the V-12 in his XJ-C, the LS engine would've been a much better choice. He wants a concours car though and seems to have unlimited cash.
The XJC is so rare putting an LS in it would damage the value of the car, and as jay leno says everyone should drive a v12 once in their life as a v12 owner i can say there is nothing like the turbine like surge, yes a LS would smash it in acceleration but driving the 12 is so nice its really hard to describe
@@callumduncan6728 I had an '84 XJ-S for two years, lovely car in many respects. It would've benefitted greatly from a better transmission, the three speed hampered initial acceleration. But the engine was indeed turbine smooth. And once at speed it was surprisingly nimble for such a heavy car. When I got it it was fresh out of a major service and the kid who owned it couldn't pay the service bill. I basically paid off the bill and got the car. Two years later, when the climate control system was again acting up, the AC would turn on in winter, I sold it for a couple hundred less than I had paid. I agree, everyone should experience a V12, they are wonderful engines.

Really like your channel but why do people think building work is easy and attempt to do it themselves, professionals would have properly surveyed the project and not even have started it, by the same token they couldn't build one off bespoke cars, its horses for courses stick to the day job which you are brilliant at.
🤔... I think nat comes from a civil engineering background to be fair.. and Thiers no way anyone would have known what was under that floor till it was dug out .. and if they been unfortunate enough to trust it to someone who felt obliged to get it done regardless of future problems as they would have been long gone by then .. they could have ended up with a sinking sunken lift 😉😂😂 . In same respect I've taken cars to specialists thinking because they had far more experience they'd do a far better job than me and been sorely disappointed... They did the right thing in my experience 🤷

The best automotive RUclips channel.
There's always the biannual bracket channel. That's quite good.
The pit construction reflects the ethos of the Company, do the job right not the cheapest way, this attitude transposes into the rebuilds perfectly.

Yes, usually floating with oil, ATF, gaskets etc. plus water seeping in . They are almost banned now, because of trapping carbon monoxide.
A little late but filling the pit with water would have held it down while pouring......
He said concrete is 2.5 times denser than water so with that info I guess they thought not

To finish off that slightly non-original Morris Minor, how about some badges in the factory script, saying 'Minor 2000'
