    This video is good, but the 1st step in disassembling like with any firearm , is to drop the mag and clear it of any ammo.

    I like your BIG point about maintaining same recoil spring orientation upon reassembly.... I found my 1968 PPK spring "smaller" (tighter) at one end (nearest chamber) vs other end (barrel crown).... But spring will also slide onto barrel when I reverse it (180 deg). My question is what prevents re-assembly of slide to frame if I change spring orientation?.... good day

  • @عبدالعزيزمحمد-ق6غ6خ

    I had one and had a hard time changing the springs, but I came up with an idea that I never thought anyone would think of. I went to a brake caliper repair shop and got the springs out, and here I got them. He refused to take the money, but I insisted, which made me happy.

    THANK YOU for the "business card" idea of holding the trigger guard out. I tried watching Walther's video and of course it looked like their demonstration was maybe a PPK/S and he didn't need anything at all to hold his trigger guard out. It just stayed pulled out, which made me wonder what I was doing wrong! LOL Great video, thanks again!

    I found your channel, and this video, on a whim. Recently I was gifted an authentic WW2 PPK from my grandfather. Has the stamps and everything. However I was never given a manual or anything of the sort in order to properly take care of this beautiful peace of history. Thankfully your video was the first I found in order to field strip the Walther, and funnily enough, our names are the same. Mine is spelled Kurt, is yours with a K or a C?

  • @COH2000
    @COH2000 3 года назад +1

    I’ve watched several videos about the disassembly of the PPK/S.
    Your video shows the safety OFF (in fire position) for disassembly & reassembly both.
    Someone else sets the safety ON before disassembly.
    1. Does it matter?
    2. Is the credit card/ business card option ok for my 1975 model PPK/S?
    I’m asking you this because ‘Legacy Collectibles’ probably knows more about Walthers than most (all?) others.

    • @thomaswhiteman4261
      @thomaswhiteman4261 3 года назад +2

      From what I can tell it does not seem to matter if safety is on or off. I guess the right answer would be to always keep the safety on. And yes, the CC trick works on the post war guns as well.

    I recently picked up a 1939 PPK. It’s immaculate but when I field strip it the recoil spring is stuck. I’ve tried pulling and twisting but I am hesitant to force it. Have you ever encountered this? Any ideas to try for getting it loose?

    • @smlee7348
      @smlee7348 Год назад

      CLP (liquid lube-cleaner) barrel & spring.... and "twist" spring until it comes off.... if that fails something else going on.... spring corroded to barrel?.... meaning using heat gun etal.... good day

    • @9unslin9er
      @9unslin9er Год назад

      Tight tolerances and likely light corrosion/fusing from time. The spring wouldn't come off my CZ Shadow 2 easily either. CLP and gentle twisting of spring clockwise (toward you, with muzzle facing left)

    I like to say I enjoy going yo the range and firing off a 100 or two of 22lr there fun and easy but I would like to say after 37 years that I am as safety conscious as I was the first picked up a gun and realized it's potential to do mayor harm or cause death I still enjoy the sport of shooting to this day but I still remember to check and check again these are not toys even when a salesman in a gun store removes the magazine and safety checks the weapon I still point it at the floor and check it myself a habit that seems to be lost on alot of people

    Redo this - you are showing a completely unsafe field strip - if the magazine has to be out to reassemble, then take it out at the start and then cycle the slide to insure nothing is in the chamber. On the slide spring point out/describe the difference of the smaller diameter for barrel end and the other, wider end for the slide instead of rambling on about it and let being specific! This is armature hour from beginning to end 💩💩💩

One thing I do know, when you field strip, you follow basic protocol when you disassemble any weapon, NO CUTTING CORNERS. Not following basic weapon handling, its just a matter of time before you or someone close to you will get injured or 6 feet under. You say Get grip, yes, I make it my business on having a Strong Grip on the life of self and others surrounding me.
