This would depend on the yard. Some yards we have seen will accept it as a #1 bare bright and others will downgrade it as a #2. Overall, as long as the corrosion isn't extensive most yards will take it as #1.
Great to see how it happens in the USA....im a heating eng here in uk and its very similar bit with different term ls eg clean and brasserie and the scrap yards like brass fittings separated in recent years brass has been better than copper price wise ....sadly some got in to my yard and stole my scrap metal pile ....it was for my holiday fund 😮😅
@@iScrapApp that’s a bad tip… romex is not that thick, and is bare bright when stripped. Also think this video is a little confusing because barebright and #1 are two different category’s and this seems like #1 and BB are the same. At my yards it’s barebright, number one, number two, number 3
@@iScrapApp you mean cleaning house wire is not bare bright ? in Canada we call it 14/2 wire , any wire that is hair like cables for boosting a car battery that I consider number 2 anything above that thickness clean is bare bright .
I strip all my wire by hand. I strip all sizes. Sometimes I even sit here and strip very small wire. Some folks wouldn't even fool with some of the very small wire. I do it all.
Life is expensive. And I have more time than I do money, so I do the same thing. Watch a little TV, drink a cold Hamms, and strip all sizes of wire. I do enjoy buying those cold beers with free money I found on the side of the road...
hello I am stripping electrical wire and noticed some is a pink colour and some a darker orange colour is this still bare bright wire as both is very shiny
Great video! If bare copper wire is not shiny, but fairly dark, or even some green patina, how does that classify?

I usually go to a standard paper clip thickness on clean wire for bare bright but yes has to be cleaned .
Good point. Our standard is we usually do anything thicker than a pinky finger

Another very informative video. Thanks . This is my woodworks channel. ( copper eye joe) is my scrap channel.

Typically any oxidation or discoloring will lose you a few points and probably wont be classified as Bare Bright
@iScrap App could I send a photo some how so you can tell me whats what
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Put pipe in a vise get some map gas heat up melt solder off
Can you give a bit more clarity about what you're suggesting?
@@iScrapApp heating the fitting to pull off copper to clean it up so you get the most bang for your book
Does the copper weight gain outweigh the MAP gas cost ?
