Too funny, I watched the Warrior Poet do his video of this kit and know you mentioned you had one on the horizon so I was waiting to see what you came out with.
Finally picked one of these up. I have been rolling with a North American Rescue kit for a long time as part of my EDC. I want more capability and this really offers it. I have only had a few people notice the kit over the years, asking if I am wearing some kind of ankle weight.
I was also looking into this rig and ended up going with the Wilderness IFAK Ankle Kit instead. Nothing against John's rig at all but I like mine a lot more and it conceals a lot better to be honest. Also, for wearing cargo shorts The Wilderness also makes a pocket medical pouch which holds pretty close to the same amount of stuff.
Love my Ryker gen 2 ankle kit. It definitely doesn't look as bulky as those, but I am unable to carry a pressure dressing (but I carry extra gauze. I also swapped to a SOF-T, as it is more slim line). However once mine wears out, I'll have to look more into this kit.
Instead of multitool would an extra compressed gauze make any difference to plug a hole?(would not having that have saved a life, or would it take more than 2 say 5-10 of them? )
Thank you for your very educational content!!! I hope your having a great day! I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me? Out of all of the Ankle kits you have used/tried. Which one prints the least and can fit the best/most stuff?
Thanks for showing your legs! Having skinny wrists/ankles I really thought these ankle kits would be too much for my legs (and now I know they are), and for sure would not fit in skinny jeans hah! Thougt about doing a video on the IWB trauma kit carriers?
Cannot see how that could ever be comfortable for EDC. Interesting somehow for snowboarding though, this would basically sit on top of your boot. So no weight, it could not really hurt you, and well most of us have wide enough pants. ;) The whole idea a bit less gunshot related content, but still it's interesting for the days where you're not going far. (ie. no backpack etc) Red snow is fucked up!
Awesome overview. I have 2 questions, do you think it’s a better deal to buy it empty and the medical gear separate or buy it fulll stocked? And, this kit seems to be one of the most expensive on the market, as opposed to kits like the dark angel medical or especially the lynx defense kit. Do you think it is built better enough to be worth to cost? Like, I love John Lovell and all he does, but I’m not gonna spend an extra $40 if his doesn’t have some good advantages.
As a fishing or going outdoors kit, I can see that useful. For any "tacticacool" drills or edc. Seems bulky, and in a odd location. You go hiking, and end up getting wet, now all your medical is too. I could go on. Its a cool, guess. I just carry a backpack like normal people!
Or do like me and carry a pur... eh satchel hah! I just feel a bit weird putting on a backpack for going into the store and then not putting groceries in it.
Working in an office, but out on the production floor with a lot of metal items, ankle med kits makes sense, especially if the company first aid kit is only a "cuts & scrapes" type of kit.
any ifak makes sense. marked and in the open is actually better. what if YOU are the one injured and unresponsive? who will deploy it if it's concealed under your pant leg? fanny pack. versipak. shoulder rig... so many better options.
Ok.. just have to ask.. and don't flame me for it.. legitimately not understanding... I'm an Australian Paramedic... why do you need to conceal carry medical supplies?.. I get the necessity to EDC conceal carry a firearm.. if that's your choice and your able to.. but.. if your a Paramedic.. aren't you going to be carrying your full kits on the job anyway?.. just to restate.. I'm not a hater... I've gone so far as importing the Blue Alpha Gear EDC hybrid nylon belt.. just because its a great product, which not coincidentally, keeps my pants from falling down when I have to carry all the radios, etc etc :).... no offense.. but it seems a bit.... much :)
Because it would look weird walking downtown at a restraunt or the mall and youve got a entire batman belt of medical gear and standing out like a sore thumb
IMHO, I'd rather just wear a backpack everywhere. And that's what I do. I can keep gloves(work gloves), a med kit, a soft armor plate, a bottle of water and a whole bunch of other work related stuff with me. And not a single person gives it a second look.
I have the same thought. I take a small backpack with me everywhere. It isn't even inspected when I take it in the movie theater. I have a decent IFAK in there, so I think I would have to give something up with just an ankle holster.
I have a question about this. Why would you want to conceal a medical kit? I would carry an ankle holster concealed for a pistol. I would open carry this in a small pouch on my belt or divide the contents if I was wearing cargo pants.
Your are more than welcome to do that. I know a lot of people stuff their med kits in their cargo pockets. Ankle medical kits are designed to be conveniently carried on our person for us who don't do cargo pockets. The reason ankle med kits are concealed under pants is because they would look dorky as all get out when worn with shorts.
I would say for the same reason you would carry your pistol on your ankle. If I am teaching or in "normal" clothes then putting supplies on my ankle is easy. Why not carry your pistol IWB?
@@SkinnyMedic My primary pistol is IWB and the backup is ankle carry or in a pocket. Sometimes I really wish I could carry my M4 because like every city there are a few bad areas everybody avoids if at all possible.
Not concealed so much as in a location you're not likely to get a serious wound so that your kit isn't damaged when you go to use it; that location just *happens* to be concealed ;)
I quit wearing bell bottoms back in the seventies. Ain't no way I'm carrying that. Two ankle holsters let me carry a CAT and Isreaeli bandage and chest seals and tape in my pockets.
for once i disagree with you skinny medic, that is super noticeable. i like johns videos and his warrior poet attitude. but this does not seem like a reasonably good option.
I love everything about Warrior Poet Society .. but I don't understand why he made something; that everyone else already makes, and jacked up the price
I wear one every day. You get used to it after a while. Unfortunately I can only wear pants anytime I want to wear it, but it's not that big of a deal. I'd rather have life saving gear on me than not.
You NEED to do collaboration videos with John Lovell!
The quality between the one made in the USA and the one not are visually evident. Thank you for the review.

I think the wilderness brand ankle rig is superior in every way I wear mine all the time
I second this. I love mine. I also got their pocket medical pouches for when I wear cargo shorts.
I’d freakin’ love one! I love Blue Alpha Gear as well. Awesome vid
And I know who’s supplies I’d put into such a piece of gear! Yours!

Wear a Kilt, Problem solved. And then call yourself Skinny McMedic
😂😂😂😂 that comment is perfect
Skinny *MacMedic. :)
Steve Dermody that’s Scottish I think Lol
@@e4mafia578 Indeed. Scotland : land of haggis, IrnBru and kilts. Also Lagavulin, Laphroig and Ardbeg.
Haven't tried this one, but I've worn my Dark Angel Medical one for about a year now. It's great, and you really dont know you're wearing it
I ware the Galco AMK every day and absolutely love it.
Great timing, I've been seriously kicking around getting an ankle kit for med. I know which one I'm getting now. Thanks!
I wear mine every day. Use the soft-t instead of the cat and it hides so much better.

This kit looks awesome.

They have lock picking classes? How did you find one?

Hey Skinny Medic, what shoes are those you’re wearing? They look comfy.

I’ll be honest, that is pretty noticeable. I’d probably notice that if I was walking behind you for more than 10 seconds.
Now maybe if you had another one on your other leg, but the difference in the size of your ankles would be what would draw my attention.
As a fishing or going outdoors kit, I can see that useful. For any "tacticacool" drills or edc. Seems bulky, and in a odd location. You go hiking, and end up getting wet, now all your medical is too. I could go on. Its a cool, guess. I just carry a backpack like normal people!

Wow.....it’s to hot to be wearing pants in NC this time a year. Well at least when off work.... 😎
Still too fucking expensive ...
A good idea for the side pockets is to put a small booboo kit with bandaids and other small first aid items
Who cares if it's noticeable 🤷♂️ We should be proud of bring prepared not trying to hide it.
unless you are a cyborge

I dont stop strangers on the street and tell them my opinion on what they are carrying. This is america if you like this go for it.
Nice ankle kit, unfortunately you dont ship to Germany.
Sorry we have contracts with companies saying we can't.
Check on warrior poet society's website. They might ship internationally.

John is becoming a giant shill just like most of them. He's one giant advertising commercial.
No one is going to wear that on their ankle for EDC. SHTF, maybe....
I wear one everyday that I'm not wearing shorts, it's totally doable and after a while you won't notice it anymore
