Dave - Panic Attack (Live from Future Festival 2017)
Dave - Heart Attack
Don't know if you've already seen him but go check out any of akalas fire in the booths
loved that reaction nice one .. please watch the original video too, it's amazing also
I think your reactions are the best on RUclips, I like that you break verses down with a deep explanation it opens up our thoughts on the reason behind the lyric.
For context - Jack Merritt the guy he referenced and showed photos of was an activist. He came from a really wealthy background and went to Cambridge University (UK equivalent to Harvard or Yale). He devoted his working life to working for improvements in prisoner rehabilitation and fairness in sentencing. He was known as a "champion of underdogs everywhere". He was killed at the end of 2019 in the London Bridge terrorist attack and reportedly spent his last moments alive trying to help the person who killed him by talking him out of it. Jack had a personal connection to Dave as he had helped Dave's brother in the past who was in prison. Jack's parents were invited by Dave that night and they didn't know about the added verse and tribute to their son. The other reference to Grenfell victims - Grenfell was an apartment block in an area with high levels of poverty, it was mostly occupied by social housing tenants. It horrifically went up in flames killing 71 people due to a cheap highly flammable material that was put over it to make it look more appealing to their millionaire neighbours.
Clean explanation
As a White British person who grew up in a middle class, White majority town, it's so educating to listen to you talk about your take and experiences regarding the topics in Dave's song... great video Kso
Wtf
Guarantee your double tripled jabbed and have posted a Ukraine filter zzzz
@@pr1bob I'm sorry, something wrong?
@@NexusPhotografi he dont geet the point of the comment
@@pr1bob he just tryna say the song deep
White Middle ages british woman here, this was one of the most powerful things that I have ever seen on prime time TV in the UK xx
Facts!
Same! I still watch this performance all the time. So so powerful.
Snap👍
(you mean middle aged, not middle ages, right? because i have the mental image of someone from the 1300s listening to this right now lmao)
@thatoneguy9582 haha... I'm not sure which I'm going with now because I'm loving the idea of being a woman from the Middle Ages watching this right now.
Love your first reaction - “let’s keep it real with rap going forwards” 10 seconds later “OH MY GOD!” 😳
Also if you want an education as well as some unbelievable bars, check out Akala, fire in the booth, 1, 2, 3 and 4. Watch them in order. He is a beast!
These are a must
Church
"Oh he's a pianist... We wanna stick to rap on this channel" 🤣🤣
😅😅😅
The way he walks off stage at the end is a swagger only attainable when you know you've changed the future for the better
The most powerful live performance i've ever seen. The UK is so proud of Dave, glad Americans like yourself love it too, very important for people to hear. I'm white and this song taught me more about racism than school ever did.
"Dave. Such a regular-ass name. I know a LOT of Daves"... 🤣🤣
I’ve watched this performance countless times, shown it to many people and genuinely think it’s the best live performance I’ve ever watched. This version of the song is incredible. The way Fraser T Smith (producer who worked with Dave in his album) comes in to play on the other side of the piano in his black suit to Dave’s white… everything about this was perfect. Big Dip your reaction was so genuine I could feel it. Loved your energy and seeing what this song meant to you and the relation you made with your culture. Dave is a special artist. Definitely check out more of his songs, especially his latest album. Some very powerful tracks on it. Peace ✌🏼
Im a white 32 year old male. Born and raised on a council estate in England. Many black friends. This performance bought tears to my eyes as its so powerful, and I feel a little shame for never realising the struggles black people face. Obviously I knew they struggled, but I didnt know the enormity of it. I do actually believe there is a privilege now, even having grown up working class to a single mother, I still had it much easier
no shit
Jack Merrick, the man on the piano at the end, he was a lawyer who helped Daves brother but Jack tragically died in the terror attack on London Bridge.
R.I.P man. I was round the corner when that attack happened, some of my colleagues had to hold up in building nearby for hours while police locked off the area. Absolute tragedy man
I watch this video every month and still laugh how u started saying “can we keep it rap” 😭
This song is a masterpiece! this is the song that turned me to a Dave fan.
Same. Moi aussi
Me too and I’m a 58 year old woman👏🏾
@@euniceobi6477 me too and I’m 60. Went to see him in concert too recently. Probably the oldest there 😂
I was already familiar with Psychodrama when this happened.
I was so proud for him to be given this spotlight moment and I take my hat of to ITV and The Brits also.
I saw him on the smallest stage at a festival with a midnight slot in 2019.
This year I'm going to see him as a headliner!
As caucasian woman in my 40's I am thankful for his lessons.
I am sympathetic.
I am sorry.
But mostly I am blown away that someone SO YOUNG has fought against the machine, and achieved it with such style, finesse, and beauty.
@@natashafletcher600 hello
Best react ever. I’m almost 40 and white and I never realised half of the issues until I saw Dave’s performance. They should play this react in primary school!
I think this is the best reaction vid I've seen. The raw emotion was beautiful to witness. I bawled my eyes out the first time I listened to this. It's just stunning.
I've watched LOADS of reactions to this performance and this is no1. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
What a wonderful reaction; from you starting by staying let's stick with rap (Dave confounds expectations as a pianist, producer and rapper) to needing to stop ever bar at the beginning, seeing your hands shake when realising the power of each lyrical bomb he drops to just rocking out - beautiful. Jack, the 'white' guy he shouts out (with Jack's family's permission) was killed in the London Bridge terrorist attack and had worked with Dave's family when his brother was incarcerated (see Dave's bl@ckbox for that story and to see a different side of his prowess fully formed even as a kid) Dave's family is also from Nigeria and the vid for Black (minus the final verse which he did just for the Brits) is largely filmed there, you'd love it. Really interesting to see an actually African African-American perspective coz your experience and understanding is probably closer to many 'black' Britons experience of heritage and culture. You'd defo like Akala, the 'uncle' of UK conscious rap, and actually most UK rappers outside drill do some 'woke' work (Wretch 32, Krept and Konan for a Muslim flavour, Mic Righteous from a Brit Persian/M Eastern perspective - hey sure there's lots more I'm a white middle class middle aged-ish woman so better folk to get info from....)
Also not on the rap thing but there's a great documentary series that came out this year from Raoul Peck, Exterminate All the Brutes, on the creation of blackness/whiteness for the purposes of exploitation that is utterly and horrendously brilliant. Peck is Haitian, moved to Africa (DRC I think) post colonially as his family helped rebuilding after we/UK/Europe 'granted' independence and then studied in Germany so he's got fascinating insight on how structural racism plays out. It probably won't teach you anything new, but its a really powerful and important piece of art.
I've watched pretty much every reaction to this song and I think you've probably topped the lot! Bravo 👏
I have as well (glad I'm not the only one!) And I agree
Dave - Black Box Freestyle. He was 16 at the time. Unreal!
This song reminded me of so much in my tears, it brought back so many memories, it brought me to tears. One of the best songs, hip hop or otherwise, I've EVER heard.
Good reaction bruh, thanks for listening to this & sharing.
I appreciate you for appreciating this pure art from Dave. One of our current greats 🙌🏾
It says it all on your sweatshirt LEGENDARY!!! DAVE is a beast!
Born in ‘98! He’s pretty much still a kid and this good. Generational talent.
Imagine how good he can be going forward…
I always come back to this reaction 💯🇬🇧 thoughtful, informative, classy 💯🇬🇧
Great reaction brother- Dave is TOP tier 🔥
Song touches the heart of all power to the black people of the world 🌎 👊🏿
By far the best reaction to Dave, Dave truly describes the reality and evokes something within me.
I love that he Straight up called out our prime minister at the Brit awards
BIG flex
Dave is Nigerian as well bro.
Naaaaaa I felt your reaction my bro 😭😭😭 I FELT IT! Love from the uk 🇬🇧
Best reaction i've ever seen man.. when you said you were a first generation from Africa i knew this was one going to hit hard and be so relatable!
Best reaction to dave yet,u just scratched the surface bro,his pen is different
Dave is a very wise young man .he is a very good representative for the black community. I'm white but get very ashamed of the way some people behave. Dose not matter what colour your skin is it what you do that counts. We are all human ❤. Love your reactions. Sorry if I'm talking rubbish .might be cause I'm old 65 but I just wish people just got on.👍✌
That was deep, bro! I had to pull up the lyrics because I wanted to catch everything. He said so much in one song. And your reaction and insight is on point!
Dave is a giant here in the UK.
Yo man I need to applaud how well you articulate your points. Amazing man.
Amazing reaction!!! Dave is special for sure!
The last verse was added just for this performance and Jack’s parents were in the crowd as Dave’s guests that night. I can’t imagine what that must’ve been like for them.
I’ve learned so much since this performance was aired, I live in the uk and we don’t get taught any of this at school, which is a crime in itself!
Thank you so much for taking the time to react to this properly and giving it the respect it deserves! He is the UK ‘Pac for sure!!!
Love your comments, your energy and your respect for the scene - new sub! Sending ❤️ from Scotland! 🏴
I watched this live at the time and was blown away, one of the best performance Ive seen
bro you need more subs and views, I found your channel through tiktok clips admittedly but I really love your analysis it is so interesting to hear someone from the US's opinion as a UK listener myself. The passion you put into making your content makes it so much more engaging and I have really enjoyed your videos.
Dave-My 19th birthday reaction would be top tier. great job my g, this song powerful
This song is spiritual, when you know you know.
Best reaction I've seen yet, love the reaction of people who can relate to this track. ❤ dave is fire 🔥
Glad you finally did this, it's as real as it gets and an instant classic
One of my all-time favourite performances, and one of my favourite reactors. This song originally taught me so much, but your insightful and intelligent analysis added new layers to this for me. Thank you!
OMG HE MELTED YOU WITH THE FIRST 16 🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes mate 🙌
This my favourite reaction to that song/performance.
This performance blew my mind 🤯. I’ve never heard of this artist, but I’m a new fan, thanks for showcasing his talent Kso! I love hip hop with a message. Would love it if you reacted to Mysonne, he is so underrated, but his music is similar in its power to uplift the culture. Check out one of his freestyles on Flex, and he’s got great songs too!
The best music makes you think, listen and hopefully learn.
As a white British person I feel there's not much to be proud about but people like Dave make me proud. The fact he was 21 continues to blow my mind. I come back and watch his performance regularly because its just so brilliant. The fact he did this at the Brits - the UK version of The Grammys (predominantly white) is the cherry on top.
Dave's poetry & his way with words is something truly beautiful ❤ He literally gives you a whole history lesson within a few minutes & so many hard facts without apology. I freaking love Dave for his honesty & bravery in a world where ppl are scared to speak up! ❤️ Anyone who's uncomfortable hearing the truth here, (& frankly it will be mainly white ppl), should seriously check their privilege
Cool reaction bro. Dave is a real legend of the game. From the UK 🇬🇧 👊
Easily the best reaction to this monumental piece by Dave.
When you said unsub if you don’t get this I gave you a like. I’m white and got ticket to see Dave live. This track makes me cry every time. Not virtue signalling just recognise the real ones. Dave is a genius
Dave is literally a genius. All I have to say.
I've scrolled past this vid so many times because I'm looking for the music i know. Thanks for introducing me to Dave.
3k likes is criminal.
One of the best reaction vids to this performance I've seen. Thanks.
And hi from UK.
The time this came out aswell, this shit was powerful, dave the goat
Dave Heart Attack, Psycho, and In The Fire are musts.
Great reaction bro. Your thoughts and things you said were so well articulated during the breaks
very intelligent analysis i really enjoyed this reaction you seem very well read
The Brits 2020 was so good!, First this and then Stormzys performance !
Man I’m sorry I’m live reacting to this but there’s something you need to know. In the UK we have an expression, when something ‘creases us up’. Usually it relates to laughing at a joke, but it applies to everything, and my dude…watching you crease up to this video is fucking fantastic
I've seen dozens of reactions to this masterpiece and yours is by far my favourite. Insight, intelligence, passion - you killed it king 👊🏾.
Wait until you listen to his back catalogue and his current album. I guarantee that when you listen to the track, Heart Attack, you'll lose your shit! It's like to this track but on steroids and meth.
You have definitely earned a new subscriber 👊🏾🖤
Love coming back to this reaction. One of your best in my opinion.
It’s funny how it starts when your not feeling it and then BAM, Dave hits you with those first bars…
But not just that, I think this is one of your most honest, raw and emotional reactions. Your right there is so much that can be said about this song and that what a good song can do. Hit you with that emotional connection, get you thinking, get you talking get you exploring your inner self as well as external world.
And it’s where the Dave rollercoaster began.
This is why you is THE, not one of but THE BEST HIP HOP AND RAP REACTORS ON RUclips!
Congrats on the 57k my G, 100k by 2023! 👊
I appreciate you bro I love how you give an in depth view of these songs much more genuine than most reaction videos I fuck with you ✊🏻 keep the content coming bro
This was great. Would love to see you cover Akala’s Fire In The Booths (he has 4, most people believe Part 1 and Part 4 are the best but they’re all worth watching!) and also Dave - Heart Attack. :)
You have to do akala, you will love it, a true teacher
Just stumbled across your channel while having lunch.Love your reaction bro.Dave is Nigerian Brit & is a goat.React to any of his vids and you won’t be disappointed.Dave produces, writes his own songs and if you hear the piano, his playing it.Please check out Panic attack live & his new album Heart Attack is the sequel of Panic Attack. The whole album is a masterpiece.Great reaction fam 💯🙏🏾👊🏾🇬🇧

Best reaction I have seen to this performance, and I've seen a lot 😍
You would love cadet, he spoke real things as well sadly he died and he will forever be missed.
Kso, glad your getting into some UK shit.
Please react to Avelino and Wretch 32 Fire in the booth, the bars and schemes are outstanding, arguably one of the best fire in the booths ever and another great example of some fine UK rap and bars, 👍
You will not be disappointed
Best reaction I've seen to this performance by Dave. Peace and love and a happy Christmas from the UK bro.
Love the energy 💪🏾
Best and the most real and sincere reaction I’ve seen to this amazing performance, great work. Dave is a genius
Great reaction! Regardless of whether you react to more dave or not (Hope you do!) Please check out more of his work, he's a genius and based on your reaction to this song I guarantee you'll love everything you find.
Beautiful reaction!! ❤
Such a powerful song. Just in awe of this one
such a great reaction, don’t worry you did the song justice with the reaction :)
The man on the piano is daves' producer Frasier t Smith
You’re reaction (as a white man) is right on it, you’ve caught lines I(from the north) wouldn’t have. Respect.
Really enjoyed this! Listen to psycho, panic attack, heart attack,
Usually I don’t like too many pauses in reactions but you spoke straight facts and from the heart. Big respect to you bro
If you're wondering who Jack Merritt was, he was a white English university student that worked with a charity that helped ex-cons. He was tragically killed in a terrorist attack in London in 2019 along with the girl that was shown on the piano, Saskia Jones.
True ! I forgot how much of a masterpiece this is because im white and you were the first reactor i've seen watch this
Big love from the uk, love watching you and the channel on the come up and more uk stuff sprinkled in with the HMack maybe?
Yess bro dave has it like thaaaaTT ...
Mic Righteous Fire in the Booth Part 3 please! This is the only thing I’ll ask for. Kso gonna like that isht!

Get ready for Dave being your new favourite artist 😁🙂✌👍👌 You are going to love " we're all alone in this together " Album is a classic 👌
Great reaction 💯🔥I love your insight and your realistic and non biased insight on this overall subject. So glad I found your channel 💯As a Caucasian male I couldn't ever fully feel the historical depth some feel from this song but thru Empathy I am moved by it and have been a huge Dave fan for a few years and love seeing you become exposed to him and his revolutionary talent.. I Am Hip Hop.. I live and breath it as I see you do also. Most listen to Hip Hop but We Are Hip Hop.. We appreciate the basic principles and elements of the Culture and do our part to lift and grow the culture. He performed this song live at the Brit Awards in the UK played the piano and freestyled at the end...he went on live TV and called the priminister racist! Unscripted! Live on mainstream TV. He's so intelligent and mature for his age. An ICON
