Appreciate it greatly. It’s about presenting a real lion. I have no guides, no special gear, one camera…just an aspect of truth. Appreciate you watching.
I just wanted to thank both of you. Canned Cam, you basically covered what I wanted to say, cheers. Donny, I genuinely appreciate you sharing your knowledge, the beautiful countryside and its inhabitants and your respectful philosophies on surviving to go on and thrive. Love and light to you both from a cold wet Midlands, England 🙏
thats how it goes not every hunt is successful specially with simple gear and no feeders its hard, not everyone is willing to show their failures on youtube Donny keeps it real.
Hey there, watched ur first short on yt half a year ago but still don‘t know if u are living this lifestile constantly? and how often do you change your location ?
I live in Texas. Ferrel hogs are a big problem. I found them fairly easy to track. Hunting them is legal all year as they are invasive. This is motivation to grab my bow and gear and plan a weekend. Love your videos. Wish I could've met you while you were here.
You are pure energy in all of your videos brother. Everytime I come back you've stepped up your game and are onto things I thought could only exist in video games. Thanks for showing me dreams can be achieved in the real world.
Well done mate. Really enjoyed watching. My legs don't work so well so you are my eyes of the world and I remember the thrill of the hunt and the prepping of the animal. Brings it back. Thanks 😁👍
Donnie ive been watching you for over a year now. Youve given me soooo much inspiration to get out in the woods and get in touch with the land. Thank you so much for your videos you are the most genuine survivalist ive ever seen on youtube
Dude, I appreciate the fact that you showed that you don't always get the spoils of the hunt. You could have easily "shot that arrow and then cut to you showing a rack of baby backs and a boston butt on your smoker". Thanks for the honesty and humbleness in your videos. I would've just enjoyed the fire and the camp too. P.S. Can you make a stone pipe? 😁
Awesome Hackberry! I made my kids' bows from hackberry and was really surprised at how springy it is. Had to get a stave for myself, drying in the rafters!
Hello friendly video class sorry for what you did not get anything and the terrain you have good I would like there on the mountains but 💪Da and health
Would love to see if a happy wander ever came by and shared his find with the world. Must be quite the sight, to just stumble upon this still life that could have been old beyond comprehension. Like you just missed your ancestor. I’m reading into this too much but awesome site.
Awesome video’s, having a backup plan is something our ancestors always where thinking off. Didn’t catch a hog? Check the snares you put out. No catch? Check the fish traps. Talking about long term sustainment: one of the oldest structures known to us are fish weirs, basically fish funneling constructions build from stones. There is evidence for that they also used wood sometimes or made parts of wood but the stones, well they are stones. They keep much better. Especially when thinking in seasons you could eat forever almost when u just sat there and catched fish, or had nets slung across the narrow gap left in the middle. Fish like salmon everyday might get a bit bland but it will keep you fat!
Love your shoes did you make them on your own? And if so can you put out a video on how you did if you don't already have one? I love your videos they're really educational and entertaining!
Dang, i know how you feel about missing your hog. I have been attempting to bow hunt for a while now in the mountains of Utah. Its extremely hard! I harvested deer with a rifle but archery is a whole other game. Good luck on your next hunt!!
Hi Donny , I was just writing this about the head being chipped on one side, how can you tell if it’s still balanced? People who shoot bows are getting arrows at the store noted for balance and flight, impact etc….
Another brilliant film, thanks for sharing. Donny how did u start out learning all these skills and is there any useful books or resource information which are you favourites to share thanks
Go Pro with a chest rig when hunting, brother - that should fix the 'recording while hunting' problem. Just turn it on, hit record when you stalk something to conserve battery and use the other camera for everthing else. It would be great for knapping, fishing, hunting, exploring, etc for that first-person view. Edit: there is also head straps too if you wanted it away from your chest.
I have learned a ton from your channel!! Thank you so much for doing what you do! I’m doing a flint napping presentation for my archaeology class at UNLV and I’m using your videos as how to guides and will be crediting you heavily as how I learned it. You rock brother!!
Good stuff, dont always go as planned but thats just part of it. I do have one question, a bit random but what kind of pants are you wearin in this? Looks like denim but not sure, im lookin for some better stuff thatll hold up a little better when im out on my adventures.
I just got an idea when you said you were gonna fix that first arrow. it might be a bad idea, probably is even, but in a recent video debunking knapping myths, you talked about small arrow heads that archeologists have found sometimes and how it wasn't used for birds, that they were still used for regular game. Merging the two together, wouldn't it make sense that the small arrowheads sometimes found were large arrowheads that were progressively chipped and fixed and reused until they were that small ? It's a shot in the dark, I know nothing about the subject, and there's probably many people who thought of that before, but I just thought it seemed... fitting.
Is there a way you can make rope? Of course that is very time consuming, but say you’re trying to build a smoker or shelter like the one you had and have no rope. What could you do? Also, why do you put rocks at the bottom of the smoker and your shelter? Is it a sort of foundation, or are they there to hold heat? I saw a person put evergreen branches on their smoker once to trap the smoke in, but you didn’t do that. Wouldn’t the wind blow the smoke too much? Thank you, I’m young and am learning things about wilderness survival😄
I can make rope. It’s not too difficult once you get the hang of it. Rocks hold heat and create a barrier from wind. Rocks around shelter creates a wind break and help support the overall structure.
What shafting materials do you prefer most and how hard is it to source the material? I've wanted to start building my own for my 50lb recurve especially after watching your channel
Weird but serious question. Have you ever encountered any strange sasquatch like creatures? We have a lot of sightings where I'm from and I've been focused on this topic as of late because I want to go camping...
it would be cool if you have a camera headband thingy so it wont be a hassle to set the camera and worrying of loosing the camera and you’ll get a good hunt with no hassle am i right? or no?😅
I just know that if I made a video for RUclips and was filming those B roll shots of me walking away at the end, I would probably forget the camera and be miles away before I remembered it. 🙄
My oldest and I enjoy watching your videos together - but now I'm constantly picking up string, sticks and chipped river rock from my driveway because he's crafting bows n shit. 🤷♂
Are you hunting on public land? I’ve been trying to go traditional boar hunting with one of my buddies in Texas but we’re struggling to find a place to do so

Building that smoker looked taxing. I'm not sure Id have the confidence to burn that many calories without a guarantee of payoff. Silver lining though, you're surrounded by Mesquite which is great for smoking so far as flavor goes.
@@DonnyDustsPaleoTracks I really do understand why.... But why???? It would have truly been hard for me to leave that behind. I've watched it turn from a rock to the final product. And I didn't have the labor in it. Very giving man, which is something hard to find anymore. Appreciate all you do.🤙
Well the conclusion of this video for me is, if you rely on hunting to feed your belly, you are gonna starve. Have lots of MRES in your bob guys. Hunting is not going to work, especially if you need to move from point to point b and then to point C kinda fast...
I'm so surprised you're discussing leaving. I thought you were trying to say that was your lifestyle. I'm more inclined to believe you're going to a posh, modern home now for recuperation. To get 'calorie positive' as you call it. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🥰🥰 And you can read your Bible. ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
