What I love about Reger, is that he can find a simple melody and embellish it with tonnage of accidentals to hide the melody completely along with the home key until the last two or so measures when all comes out at the end in a very dramatic way with either a forceful or quiet ending, beginning in the dominant key and end the story in the key the piece is written in.
