    I started doing bearing probably when I was in the 8th grade, I somehow passed my O levels without understanding absolutely anything about bearings, none of the teachers I had could explain this and now im doing my A levels and its the first time after watching your videos that I truly understood. Something that my teachers couldnt do in so many years you did it in just a few minutes. You truly are a real math prof!!! :-)

    As a Pilot I skip a couple steps here....Eg: A to B its 60 degrees RIGHT to B.
    So if I'm Flying a heading of NORTH on 000 and B was @ 60 degrees to my right I would go:
    HEADING = 000 + RELATIVE BEARING = DIRECTION TO FEATURE which is 060. (000+060) = 060.
    Therefore: To find a bearing from B back to my current position I would go 060 + 180 = 240 degrees. Just another small variation, cuts out the drawing. This was easy as 060 is above the 270-090 E/W line which is feature B so the reciprocal of 060 (180 Tail of 060) logically sits to the S/W of the E/W line so that confirms the calculation makes sense. Nice video!

  • @aaaaaaaaaaa13517

    Bearings are measured from North or south clockwise or counterclockwise depending on which quadrant falls the other end of the line and ranges from 0 to 90 degrees, Azimuth in fact is what is measured generally from north and always clockwise and ranges from 0 to 360 degrees. Bottom line, what you explained is the bearing in the first quadrant where bearing and azimuth are equal from point A to point B. The angle you compute from point B to point A is an azimuth only referring to your example. The bearing from A-B=80° Northeast which is equal to an azimuth of 80° because is in the first quadrant , the bearing of line B-A=80° southwest because it falls in the third quadrant and has an azimuth of 260°.
