Yes, this is astounding - I have been to Russia (not only Moscow) 24 times and never seen a bum and beggars neither. You will only find decent old ladies unobtrusively sit in front of the entrances of churches and you heartily drop some money in their cups. They will bless you for that.

Wow i live in Toronto and Toronto is known for financial center and its only few blocks but Moscow is like five times bigger
This puts a lot of American and western cities to shame. You don't see any homeless or any filth on the streets. People are well dressed and going about their business. Buildings are super modern and streets wide with lots of open space. I would love to visit one day for sure.

10%+ of all Russian people live in the area around Moscow. It a is an amazing place. Unbelievable subway system. I was there twice before 2000. It is much bigger and better now.
Before 2000? Everything laid in ruins after dissolve of USSR. Came to Moscow in 2000 - awful place. After 2015 - renovated and beautiful, last time visited few months ago.
Want to move there in next 5-7 years. Apartments which I want exactly in one of this buildings is expensive as hell ($1,6m) :-/

Everything is done by metro and Walking. That's what metro is for and very convenient. In City center every 2 blocks have an intrance to metro. Not everywhere tho. Downtown does
