One guy wrote all of this.
Nicholas Fontenot nah, he has dreams about another universe where this shit actually happened. He just thinks it's his imagination
...tolkien
... Rowling
@@hazri8758 nah rowling sucks ass
It's not like he didn't get “inspired” by either real life history, tolkien, hp lovecraft, and other european fairytales.... so
It's weird that I know more about game of thrones history than real world history
Don't worry about it, I'm the same
MrDEA666 not really, I think you'll find that all of Game of Thrones (SOIAF) is based on history. Off the top of my head, stuff like the Red Wedding actually happened. G.R.R Martin was inspired by the War of the Roses, and you'll see that has huge amounts of known personal feuds/betrayals
+MrDEA666 We know you never studied proper history then...(usually your state education doesn't give you all the details, only the "headlines". Which infuriates me, as they spoon feed you dates when you should be learning how you can learn from their mistakes or follow in their past glories and see the amazing stories which normal people had during centuries of old.) History is great to learn when you are out of school...more of an college or university subject. Before that it's nazi that, stalin this, 1066 that, 1582 this...
that just makes you a loser. you'd be good at LARPing I feel.
Xx_Spark_A_Doobie_Faggot_xX _ if history would be including more dragons and tits i would probably be more interested
You should do a video called "Bastards of Westeros" mentioining the main and most interresting bastards in Westeros.
Tim the Enchanter 1. Gendry.
The Blakcfyres would be the focus then.
Tim the Enchanter Jon Snow the Crow.
ramsay bolton
what about bolton
I really hope the spinoff is about the doom of Valerya or Dance of Dragons. GRRM said everything about Roberts Rebellion will be answered in his next 2 books and seasons. The Blackfyre Rebellion would be interesting too
The other book series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, starts like 15 years after the Blackfyre Rebellion. I am reading them and are quite enjoyable, if you want to check them out.
Cody Goins I want them to do a spin off on one season of the first men, then a season of the long night, then a season of doom of valriyria and conquering westros and etc
You were right
Dance of dragons spinoff is coming boyyyyy ;)
Guess what.....
Its weird that in the 12000 years, westeros had negligible technological advancement...!
If you consider that Westeros is technologically equivalent to our world's 13th or 14th century, then considering that signs of civilization date back to 10000 Before Christ, I'd say that the technological advancement, in comparison to ours, is pretty similar. Seeing as the age of the First Men is basically Earth's equivalent to the Bronze Age, which can go as far back as 5000 before Christ, and considering they had huge setbacks that surely hindered technological development such as The Long Night, I'd say Westeros' development is on par or somewhat slower to our own. Technological development usually has an exponential trend, as in, you have very little development for a long time and slowly but surely you start gaining momentum and eventually have a sharp increase, as we've seen in the last 200 years.
Westeros will completely change when their version of the renaissance and industrial revolution begins.
Angad Warang Dragons and magic halted technological advancement. it is known
You need a Renaissance first. That requires a society that is rich and stable enough. In GoT the smartest people still have a lot of bull to deal with. That slows down the philosophy needed to get actual science started. You should read this book. www.amazon.com/Scientists-History-Science-Greatest-Inventors/dp/0812967887
Having winter so rarely slows advancement because you don't heve to care about surviving. That is why Europeans conquered the world, surpassing with technology parts of the world that snow never falls and seas never freeze. Today most of the countries that are close to equator are poor and undeveloped. That's my guess.
This was excellent. My only suggestion would have been to go more into then5th Blackfyre Rebellions. That Rebellion had a lot of contemporary characters; Tywin, Selmy, Blackfish. That's also the war where Aerys was knighted.
T Wall That was the last Blackfyre Rebellion. The first happened probably 40-50 years before and was the war that Brynden Rivers (3 eyed crow) fought in before going North.
That’s basically the dunk and egg books, too bad they’ll never be finished
You left out that the Children created the Others/White Walkers to fight the first men
Moira Menzelli This is an analysis of the books' timeline - TWoW hasn't come out yet so we have no idea if thats true. Stuff in the show and books are typically very different.
Well we do know they created the white walkers, just can't prove the reason
to protect the children from first men
Yeah, the children were being wiped out so they had to defend themselves. Something else that's interesting is that the wildlings were responsible for The Others coming back, they accidentally woke them looking for the Horn of Winter.
+Matt Nar ... I hadn't made that connection before. Mance accidentally woke the Others. But I don't think the Children created the Others using Men and Dragonglass. The Others in the books aren't nearly as humanoid as they are in the show. They're slim white shadows.
Good video but those yellow writings on white background was little bit frustrating.. Couldn't read any of them when you were actually describing.. >_
he wanted you to listen
EvelynLove Fosu-Duah Then why bother with writing?
Saurabh Bhide they turn black...
Problem is whenever a yellow text appear I try to read it so hard that I get distracted and stop listening. I just wanna be able to read what's in the video but the color combination is so difficult to understand it really annoys me. If you want us to listen just don't place the labels, it distracts the viewer (it distracted me so much I stopped at min 1:35 to look for people with the same problem in the comments)
haha
i think you hit all the main events, however, i would like to point out a detail to add context. robert baratheon was arranged to be married to lyanna stark, which is why he was so angry when she was taken and why robert's rebellion has its name. also, during aegon's conquest, the starks bent the knee, signifying the targaryens' success because the starks were originally kings of the north, but under targaryen rule, their status was reduced to being simply wardens of the north. also, most westerosi, except the northerners, descend from the andals. the northerners descend from the first men.
cat ✨ the andals and the first men did interbreed so the North did not only descend from the first men they also descended from the andals although technically all Westeros descended from the first men!
This is basic knowledge and wasnt important enough in the Grand Scale of this vid.
You forgot Hodor's death.
😭
😢
Nice job! Looking forward to your videos during the season!
dayum i got excited when i saw this, love your videos!!
Haha Thanks!
When did the War of the Ninepenny Kings happen?
I really loved this video, my only criticisms would be to show the names of houses to allow the audience to visualise the sides and allegiances in wars, and maybe add more detail to Robert Barrathion's rebellion because it was such an important shift of power and explains why many houses are in the position they are in during the show. (edit: just a spelling error)
theres shit tone of details of roberts rebellion and just by listening to the show its pretty easy to figure out who lives where
Loved it!! I'm not a reader, I'm a tv watcher, so I, and all other couch potatoes, truly appreciate this.
:D
GREAT VIDEO! I really appreciate how you've taken the time to deliver the best imo, "lore" video I've come across. I saw one that said a lot of the same stuff, but was 40mins long! Get job, great visuals!
Good succinct video of a rather complicated history. Well done. Liked and subscribed. 👍
Thanks for creating this timeline. Helped me refresh a lot of the history I had forgotten as I read the books a while ago.
I love your videos. So far they have been holding me over through the long night between seasons.
What a great video! You gave us the highlights of history to provide a context for the GOT epic. You helped me pul together the background of th current series. Thanks!
:D
The timeline I didn't know I needed, thank you for this
Great video!! It put several things into much better context for me, thank you!
This was great! :D
Thanks :)
I think this is the simplest and most easy to understand ASOIAF timeline I've seen on RUclips. You don't go too much into details, yet the most important events are mentioned. A solid 5 of 5 from me.
I thought the current timeline was set 400 years after the conquest, or was it just in the show?
Excellent work, thanks for putting this video together
Great job , loved watching . Some stuff that happened that I didn't even know . thanks
A very comprehensive compendium you made here +whycreate!
Well done!
Subscribed!
Loved this, I'm glad I fell upon this video while going through my recommendations. I'll be subscribing and I look forward to more content like this in the future; very thorough. 👌
Thanks Shannon!
awesome video
thanks for all the effort youve put into this
Best ASOIAF videos as always, thank you.
That was awesome..... it's so amazing that all this came out of one persons mind...... like they could do many tv series about this world.... thanks a lot it puts a lot in perspective
I should be watching history videos but no
Technically you are... kinda...
Yea I always catch myself feelin kinda retarded for watching more GoT history than real earth history these days lol definitely seem to have retained more GoT in much less time !
GOT history is better than ours
Great video, good research, but next time please don't use yellow on white....
I like that Tolkien created a Universe. I love GOT but the depth and richness of Tolkien's legendarium are unsurpassable.
Clicked on the video as fast as I saw it lol I love your videos, expecially these timeline kind of ones (the family trees too)
Keep it up c:
Thanks!
Nice work. Thanks for the timeline.
Very very very well done. I believe that u got it right. Thanks for putting it done on a timeline. 👍
Bro this video had to take forever to research . It’s good !
This was great! thanks for this
You need more subscribers!! You are my fav GOT channel
Great video!
good work. thanks
great job! thanks mate!
Thank you for the video.
Have you considered adding a MAP that would show where the things take place? Also, consider WRITING the names/places out, because while the English may be understandable, there's just no way to properly catch all the names GRR Martin came up with.
Pavel Drotár I agree, video is good but a map would be great
Great video, mate!
soooo useful thank youuuuui
Nice video mate 👌
Very informative. That was Great !!
Thanks Charles!
geez, that was crazy helpful. good work!
two questions. one, can anyone think of anything specific that happened during the dance 9f dragons that could have killed magic? Because that's when it seemed to go away. two, seems like salt and smoke and the defeat of ghis warrants a bit more looking into. I guess that's not exactly a question, but whatever.
I think that you should take a closer look what houses were included on each sides of "beef/civil war". Also that was 2 years long war including a lot of dragons. Writing a lot I mean that there was much more than 3 dragons. Also there were a lot of people sneaking into castles. People considered as allies but being hidden spies on different side payroll. In this type of times lets just say it's easy to make magic dissapear.
People stopped believing in dragons and so they disappeared. A lesson I learned a while back when I stopped believing in Santa...he just disappeared :,(
+High Valerian ... Magic is returning. Marwyn has been trying to light glass candles for ages, but can now. Conjurers are able to put on grand shows with fire but couldn't before.
On several occasions in both the books and the show we hear the characters discuss the return of magic such as when Thoros raised Beric for the first time after a lifetime of saying the words with no results.
I don't know if this will be useful to you or not but Civilization Ex has timeline videos on ASOIAF history, as well as timeline and important events videos on both The Dance civil war, and the Blackfyre rebellions if you would like to check those out. Whycreate has really good content and puts a lot of time into his videos but sometimes I like to see how other youtubers cover the content as well.
ruclips.net/video/dyjHq4HJGs4/видео.html - this is the complete timeline for the books
ruclips.net/video/-sDZFaOZmjg/видео.html - Dance of Dragons timeline
ruclips.net/video/pH6E6jyUSBc/видео.html - Blackfyre Rebellions
Just in case you were still looking for more information on these ^^
Love the video, perhaps a tiny suggesion, - a "map" where you describe the different locations and locations you mention, instead of just a picture of something almost related - it's just me, you're video is great regardless :D
Great video! But I had to rewind quite a few times because a lot of the words spoken were not very clear.
Yeah me too.
Agreed, wouldn't have hurt if he took a little more time to articulate properly. Interesting nonetheless.
Thank you so much for these videos I am learning a lot of the G.O.T history.Very interesting!
Good work mate!!
Awesome video
I have never subscribed to a channel so fast
very well made!
Much appreciated effort!
Great work man 😀
Great job.
Great videos bro! And wow you really blew up time to subscribe to you!
I enjoy your videos!! You might consider doing a video of all the repeated names (you know, "first of his name" etc), which can be very confusing on a first read through. You might plot them on this same time line and mention what each if known for. Aegon 1,2,3 ... Brandon 1,2,3 ... Etc. Etc. Etc. This one did this and that one did that ... Cheers.
great vid man... you explain to the tee.
Very nicely done.
Thank you!
I like the timeline, wont lie that BC and AC makes it easy to follow but this is a great video thank you!
Amazing stuff. Really easy to watch and digest, which is exactly what I needed. I would recommend against yellow letters on white backgrounds. That was hard to read. Otherwise, it was perfect. :)
WELL DONE!
Best channel!! Keep it up
You deserve a raise.
awesome!!
I think this was very well done
Thank you. It is nice to know the history in a nutshell for people like me who don't read the books.
I’d love a future video about the Great Empire of the Dawn, I think they are really fascinating and will be important to the future of the story
Thanks I needed that "History" lesson...only recently caught up on GOT and not read any of the books. Nice to know where everything fits.
keep it up! more videos please
I've some you'tr videos really nice job & beneficial
Excellent.
The video is excellent, very informative and the simple usage of images matched perfectly.
But you have to speak a bit slower and maybe louder, because at some points you werent clear. I had a hard time understanding you sometimes, since you were speaking too fast or too low.
Hope you dont mind the constructive criticism, and keep up the good work.
I enjoyed this video.
Bravo! Well done.
Nice vid! This was more of a A Song Of Ice And Fire Timeline rather than A Game Of Thrones one tho :)
thanks, that helps a lot! 👌👏
Amazing
Well done
thanks a lot man
Its purely great!!
Great video , I just wish you did your timeline on a map of Westeros. Nice work tho!
You deserve more subscribers , alot more.
Thanks!
I am impressed. One author came up with all these ideas lol
Very interesting. I was gutted when the vid ended though because I've been trying to work out how much time has past in the GoT series itself.
nice video
NOT BAD, GREAT JOB. I HOPE THAT ONE DAY AN ANIMATED SERIES CAN COVER THE STORY FROM START TO FINISH.
You missed the fact that the Soul of Cinder invaded the entire timeline XD
This is the 3rd videos of watch that I'm watching, I'm a bit in love with your voice :L
Beautifully assembled timeline. Well done! Which program did you use to create it?
Thank you! I use After Effects for all my videos
The lore of this franchise is so dense that you could make 6 separate prequel series from Aegon's conquest to Greyjoy's rebellion that would last just as long as the main series!
Good video
awesome
Boy theze are nice vids
Fascinating
Shit man, I've just realized you use Dark Souls soundtrack sped up in the back of your videos. The song at the start is from the fight against the Soul of Cinder boss! Hahaha, awesome.
Before Conquering and After Conquering.... I like it 👍🏽
this is epic
