Messi playing in Japan today adds insult to injury for the Hong Kong fans who paid top dollar, up to USD 650, for a ticket. It's a bitter pill to swallow for them, as they were already disappointed by his absence in the previous game. Not only did Inter Miami CF fail to provide any explanation or apology for Messi's absence, but now they see him playing in another country altogether. This situation further highlights the lack of consideration and respect shown towards the fans who have invested their time and money to support the team. It's a clear example of how the management's actions can contribute to fan disenchantment and a breakdown of trust between the club and its supporters.

Maybe think of what the HK government is trying to coerce the players to promote their ‘Hello Hong Kong’ propaganda first - Messi and the other team players must be pissed about that whole arrangement! Hence, noticed Messi refused to shake John Lee’s hand? He might be trying to send a message. I do sympathize people spending $600 USD, but not being able to see their favorite football player perform.. but I guess in the end he’s a top football player, and seems like he can getaway with it. The funny thing is: Hong Kong fans(40,000 of them bought the tickets )really admired him. They each spend more than HK$3,000 ( some even paid the black market ticket price of HK$10,000), not to mention all the profit gained by the organisation from selling the souvenirs, the admission tickets for fans just watching the rehearsal one day before. They at least made 100 million Hong kong dollars this time but without Messi even saying a 'hello' or a 'sorry', instead just give people his cold shoulder. On the other hand, half of the tickets in the Tokyo match were unsold and some Japanese didn't even know he's going there. But he smiled and went to join their activities, even holding a meeting to speak out. Such odd behaviour can't stop people feeling suspicious, that he is racist against the Chinese.

That Manager, Martino, was already a part of the scam. Suarez was warning up for half an hour, and that manager even didn’t send him up to the pitch for a single minute.
Fans paid high cost for their match, flew from miles away to the city. There is no reasonable cause for him to do so.
He couldn’t be injured or didn’t like the city’s government… etc, at the last minute. Defo enough time for them to refund but they didn’t.

I wonder how Messi could form a view that the China was no good to its citizens? He had no time to read or understand any international politics besides football and his family. He should mind his own business and concentrate on helping to improve his own country Argentina who is in a mess right now.

Fans and audiences understand injuries happen. They requested Messi to accept the award on behalf of his team and say something to audience about his injury and explain to them why he didn't play. Yet he refused and came out and line up in the back row, didn't even shake hands with anyone in award line up. Again, if he took the time and show his fans some love, they would of been ok.

Can you please do a reaction on the Japan game only 48 hours after the absence in HK? I'd love to see your reaction on that. Additionally, it was not only that he didn't play, he nor the team did not give any explanation, and did not talk or even smile for the press during their time in HK. The first comment about the issue was when he held a press conference saying it as "unlucky" with no apologies whatsoever. This is disrespectful to his fans, and disrespectful to his profession!
And the comment the journalist made at the end was not fair! Yes the game was hyped about Messi and rightly so! Let's be honest, If Messi wasn't in Inter Miami, who would pay to even attend the show? It's like going to a Taylor Swift concert and only watch the dancers?! (No disrespect to dancers and other players of the Inter Miami, but it's objectively different status quo)

hi teacher paul. i just wanted to add alittle information from chinese social media and my 2cents on the situation. first and foremost i want to let you know(if you havent heard already) the next day inter miami and messi left for japan and had no problems doing full training session in japan and played 30+ mins in the japan match which was a short few days after HK match. the abrupt recovery is suspicious. another thing is his "injury" was during/after the saudi match. this was many days prior to arriving in HK. knowing that there is an injury, there shouldve been some form of communication stating theres a chance messi wont make it onto the pitch. there was ample time to assess the situation and have a backup plan in place in case he wasnt able to play. it was in a contract(between tatler and inter miami i believe) that messi would play atleast 45min. at the start of the second half when messi was still sidelined, HK officials made contact with the organizers and it wasnt till near the end of the match that they were told messi wasnt going to play. at that moment officials had suggested other options for messi to maybe interact with the fans so the day was not a total waste(lets be honest here, majority of the seats were filled with messi fans) and everything was rejected.
the highest ticket price was 4880 hkd which was about $650 usd but what they dont tell you is the tickets sold out almost instantly. alot of ppl paid scalped ticket prices over $2000 usd.
messi has an international fanbase and there is a large fanbase in china. it is no stretch to say that this match in HK was the ONLY chance for alot of his chinese fans to watch him play live.
my personal thoughts, only the organizers and inter miami know what was written in the contracts so its hard to definitively say whos right and whos wrong. so i wont say 100% the blame falls on messi but he did show a lack of enthusiasm towards his fans and this doesnt seem appropriate for an man of his stature. HK was an simple match with an unofficial football team. i feel like he deliberately embellished on his injury so he could ignore the HK match and be better rested for the match in japan against the j-league champions because afterall, it would be a more serious match. and to me, that is just wrong to completely ignore an entire fanbase.
im sorry for the long wordy comment but this has been bothering me for days now and i feel great to finally just release my thoughts and be done with it. tho i was not in attendance, i have relatives in HK that were there and what they tell me was the was the most bare minimal interactions with his fans. the only time he really interacted with ppl were with the HK players and personal on the pitch but pretty much ignored most of the fans in the seats.

    1) no doctor examined him.
    2) it was heard, right before the game, the coach and Messi decided NOT to play.
It’s doubtful they even informed the sponsor.
    3) Messi didn’t even bother to wave to his fans.
    4) Messi did NOT bother to use his healthy mouth to explain his side, wtf!
Conclusion, the falk up is 100% on Messi and his team.

LA PULGA? Yes, you have the right to prefer Japan and be more willing to perform for them, but those people who go to Hong Kong to watch the match are just ordinary folks, no cheaper than Japanese fans. Messi admitted himself stating in a press conference that his MRI scan showed no injury, but he still did not play because he was not so sure of it himself. That's however not a legit medical reason not to play. His contract said he should play when there is no valid proof of injury. After just a few days he did play in Japan, so that is enough proof he had no injury. So Messi basically broke contract and can be sued for it.
