- "Walter, I want you to meet Mr. Herb Shriner, who is in television, and Mr. Fred Allen, an unemployed gentleman from Boston."
TWO FOR THE MONEY was originally developed by Goodson-Todman for Fred Allen in 1952, but unfortunately, Fred's health prevented him from taking the job. Taking his place as permanent host was Herb Shriner, who was off this week from the show, so taking HIS place was Walter O'Keefe. The segment at the end of this show, with Fred and Herb as contestants, is a riot.

Bee was also a guest on 'What's My Line.' She tests dynamite, for moisture.
Wtf moisture?
19:40 A very prophetic Fred Allen line about not being around much longer. :((
Don't take the cigarettes I am yelling at the screen.
Walter O'Keefe is a amazing man
0:15--Announcer Kenny Williams, who later worked for producers Merrill Heatter and Bob Quigley on such fine shows as "Video Village", "Hollywood Squares", "Gambit" and "High Rollers".
Love this!
10:30 "You sound like a charter member of the Odd Fellows.." Hey! I am a member of the Odd Fellows!
Shame Fred’s health kept him from this gig. Perfect vehicle for him.
A lot more than "Judge for Yourself" ended up being!
+What's My Line? good show he's not sexist your racist.
George Lewis: What in living hell are you talking about?
He did guest host at least once at least.
What's everyone's guess on how much of the "banter" here was scripted in advance? Even Fred seems rehearsed in a way never visible on WML. (Or almost never; some of the Hal Block free guesses seemed to have been prepared ahead of time.) Bennett in his oral history mentions the very important point that the WML regulars were picked because they could talk spontaneously, and oh, what a difference that makes.
