Congratulations Richard for another brilliant video. I started watching your videos to train my English, I am Brazilian and I love to study the English language. You speak very well, I can understand everything you say. Now, from being a simple student, I became your follower. I watch all of your videos. thanks. Sorry for my grammatical errors.
Stunningly beautiful walk. Colours and buildings amazing. Loved the sheep especially the black and white one. So peaceful and tranquil. Thank you for superb early morning stroll.
A particularly beautiful walk Richard, with the greenery finally beginning to emerge . Much as I love our great Cathedrals, Berwick's Church is about as close to perfection as it gets The mystery mound in the churchyard was an unexpected bonus.
Great video Richard some lovely images of old properties and a lovely Church, how lovely that big field of yellow. that was some very nice open fields, looks like another great place to visit and go for a walk. Great music too Richard.
The old coach Road is, I think, part of the Lewes to Eastbourne turnpike that ran between Glynde, Beddingham, Firle, Alciston and Berwick (parallel with the A27) and on to Alfriston. I see you were also back on the pilgrim trail walk at one stage as well as Vanguard Way. Lovely to see Berwick and its environs beautifully depicted and I like the idea of you 'wheedling' your way back at the end!
What a beautiful area! How amazing it must be for those that live there!!! Lovely old church & church yard! All of the old cottages, farmhouses & barns were extraordinary!😍 Though not a fan of of the crop, the yellow of the rape blossoms on the landscape were quite stunning!💛
Very interesting video. Berwick is a place I've never been to but have been to Drusilla's park the other side of the A27 when my 'kids' were younger. Lovely views from up there of the South Downs, hope you took some photos too.
We have visited The Cricketers many times and also the church. The village is lovely particularly at this time of year when everything is coming into bloom. I was wondering if you have visited Milton Street which is just a little further on from Berwick. It has another very nice pub, The Sussex Ox. It really is nestled at the foot of The Downs and quite breathtaking. A superb video as always, Richard. Many thanks.
So worth being able to get out early ! Rape or cow parsley, both beautiful in their way but cow parsley wins out for me. First sound of a skylark for me this year. I love the church, the light is amazing through the plain window glass which replaced the stained glass after bomb damage. Thoughts are that the mound is indeed an ancient burial mound and used as a Moot later.
Something Hitchcockien in this video from the arrival of your man jumping out of the "Black"van! The total silence throughout. The sky and the light formation over the yellow rape fields. I loved it!
@@RichardVobes I think I meant the silent ambiance of the film looking at it again. Something eerie I can't explain what! But you should contact the BBC Richard
I've walked the South Downs Way and now got the urge to do the Vanguard Way! If anyone fancies it let me know. I'm currently half way through the North Downs Way but got suspended before the outbreak of Covid.

So beautiful to not have the hum of traffic and the encroachment of housing developments it was wonderful to hear chirping. but the farm land must be degrading from farming practices that leave the land reliant on chemicals fertilizer and weed killers and subject to erosion. I am sure that a rainstorm will wash away topsoil and silt the streams. Oops I couldn’t resist whenever I see a bare field those thoughts pop into my head. I shall no erase them. I will make efforts not to make them in the future🍀. 🤷🏼♀️🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖👍👍👍👍👍👍😘💞🙋🏼♀️
This shows Sussex county, the church and dwellings to be in such harmony. Farming methods may have changed, though it still shapes the landscape. The only way the viewer could improve on enjoying all shown here, is be there in person, and this may well provide the stimulus.
I see you pop up on my phone almost every day. I hope you don't burn yourself out. About the church on a flat piece of land. They built many churches on the sites of pre Christian temples. Keep well.
Thanks for the video Richard - beautiful countryside! Comp Lane: www.moderndayexplorers.net/2011/02/boat-comp-laneold-coach-road.html Mound on church land: There appears to be some suggestions, on the web, that it might be a "Disc Barrow"
The combination of your personality, and film making skills, makes your 'stuff' so watchable. Cheers.
Richard, your videos are truly a gift. They have helped me through many hard times.
So kind of you to say so

Good shout, I went down there today, then along to the Long Man at Wilmington
Excellent again Richard. Thankyou 👍👍👍
Splendid! Your passion, as you stood framed in the arch with the light, exuded in a David Bellamy voice to me. Still, what do I know...

Nice!
There is a motte and bailey over the river marked on the map as the “Rookery” Not accessible. The old course of the Cuckmere river formed the most.
Thank you for getting up early Richard, and taking us on this lovely walk. Some great shots of the cottages and surrounding landscape.
My pleasure

I know what it is! There is something of Midsomer Murders in the air. Where is Barnaby hiding?
I just don’t get it how some give a thumb down to a beautiful interesting video . No pleasing some brain dead folk . Great vid Richard 👌😎
Prob coz there's no McDs or Starbucks in sight!
This is absolutely amazing. I just love exploring with you. We are lucky enough to live in Ireland so I am exploring here😊 but will do the UK soon

I always understood it was a Saxon burial mound in Berwick churchyard
It could well be.
🍻
