It's the same in the USA, We have to buy a box spring which goes under the mattress, which costs extra. If u get a king-size mattress, u have to buy 2 twin box springs. Always more money ❤
Clare, I have to tell you that purple/lavender/lilac are brilliant colors for you (headband)...it has an extraordinary effect & makes your eye color pop beautifully!! You pair are burning up the Maison de Maitre, pumping out the work & the end result will be absolutely gorgeous, I know!! It's getting really exciting & I admire how you don't spare any details in your work...so thorough!! Always so nice to see your parents, Clare.."...In moderation, Mr. Dawson..."😊Have a wonderful week & Blessings to you both, Flora & Merlot!! 🇺🇸
Mick your plastering looks fantastic 🤩 well done 👏👏👏 Claire bravo on the sanding! I have no idea how you stay so cheerful after doing it! Big love to you both x
Always enjoy your witty sense of humour 😄The maison d maitre is coming on great with all the hard work you both are doing 😊 I will be in touch via email.
A massive amount of work done, I'm impressed. The plastering and sanded floor look superb. Loving the tip on how to explain why you didn't send an actual card on Fathers day, it's my go to excuse for all occasions from now on.
I think with the postage cost we may be cutting back on sending cards more altogether... sometimes we use the Jacquie Lawson e-cards they are really sweet.
We have a beautiful wooden antique 3/4 bed frame that we had adjusted to accommodate a double (full) mattress. The mattress "sticks out" a bit, but it looks fine with bedding. You might be able to adjust a double frame to accommodate a queen (not king) mattress. I'd also keep your double bed...possibly to use as a "single" bed [or for an emergency booking] for a smaller bedroom (down the road?). Or...have two double beds in a bigger bedroom. The frames can be mix and match. I think that would look fun! I absolutely love the old wooden bed frames. ❤ FWIW, hubby is 6'3". We can comfortably share a double mattress for a few nights. Better in the winter though 🤔.
It will be a definite keeper for our side of the house probably. We have an amazing art deco old wooden double that was left here with mother of pearl inlay - we are a bit unsure of moving it though...
Hi! I found your videos a few weeks ago and have been watching from the beginning. You guys work so hard and are so funny! You have made my day with this video! I have an antique bed that was my Grandmothers from the 1920's. Bed sizes have changed here in the US too. A double mattress for it is shorter and narrower than a modern mattress. Beds have gone crazy now! Everything is different even in the past few years on how the bed is manufactured. Do not get me started on the sheets!! Ha ha. Good luck with your new bed! Have a great week! I live in the country near a small town. It is the best!
Hi terrysue! hope you are enjoying the back catalogue - welcome to the funny farm. I watched a video online of an English lady who had recently moved to the US and had gone out to buy some new sheets - she was so confused as you have so many choices out there! All the best from France C&N
It is hard to figure out the bottom sheets. They used to have elastic in the back, and were easy. Now you never know how to put them on. I hope you both have a good week!!
How many bedrooms did u say u have to do repairs too? And wow great job to both of you ,will u ever do ur kitchen? OH by the way here in Canada our beds are SINGLE, DOUBLE, QUEEN . KING OUR KING IS THE BEST FOR 2 PEOPLE
3 bedrooms to make. one en suite bathroom. Repairs to one bedroom (the downstairs one) a breakfast room, a kitchen and a master suite - so just a few to go! then it can continue with the side of the house we live in. It sounds like Canada bed sizes are similar to English - it is so confusing over here! All the best from France C&N
Can you map out your property from the drone point of view for us? You may have done this before, i can't remember. I can't believe you don't have more viewers! You both work so hard! Hi, to your lovely parents from Texas!
We will do at some stage coming up for sure. If you look at some of the very first vlogs on the intro it does show it mapped out from above with a yellow line. All the best from France Clare & Nick
We did Linda - but thankfully we are fairly inland and it does not seem to get too bad here. However check out tomorrow nights vlog...unusual weather warnings!
Doing floors can be back braking I found that I used an old settee cushion to kneel on and it made a lot easy and in the end the cushion was garbage any way
Hi Robert - it may not show it clearly but if he ever does need access he will be able to take a small section of floor up in the cupboard that will be at the other side of the wall. Know what you mean though if it did go wrong it would be hell moving that shower tray. All the best from France C&N
Don't get rid of that bed though - put it in another smaller room in preparation for a "single" guest or somebody's child...tooooo pretty to part with - please
Great 2 hand job, Claire! You're a dusty woman😮 but it will be another great room when finished. Nick's powering through another loo. You will both deserve a vacation soon
I'm sorry, but that plaster dust is still finding its way inside your mask, and into your airways... You can clearly see it on your face... You need something better!
Thank you for keeping it real. There's an awful lot of really lousy work that goes into renovation. I admire your stamina and determination. ❤❤❤
Big thank you Norma xx
You both work very hard and the progress is amazing. Despite that you always make time for your parents. I’m always impressed by your reno skills! 👍👍
Thank you so much!

Moving forward with the bedrooms and a new bath! Walls are looking great and that birthday sander, amazing! Cheers!

Thanks 👍us neither at times - it has been hard this week in the heat as you will see in this weeks vlog. All the best from France C&N
Great job, you both deserve that bottle of wine.
Big thank you Jacqui x
You’re doing amazing work! I love to watch ❤
Many thanks Naomi
There are folks who will love to sleep in a gorgeous antique bed even if it is a full size.
We have kept her to one side for a future room in our side of the house - she was too good to go...
You two accomplish so much every week! Going from strength to strength! Cheers!!
Big thanks Gloria xx
Lots of great progress this week It’s looking really good already. 👏👍
Thanks 👍
As always can’t wait 😊
Yay! Thank you!
Use the bed in a single room
The walls are so much cleaner although you two are so much more dustier. Good job.
some times it is a competition who can be the most dusty!

Love your channel. I look forward every week. Hi from Australia
Awesome! Thank you!
I love the double french bed, but I get it guest rooms need a queen or king size. I am sure you will find another room for that lovely bed.

You could use that bed in a smaller room. It is beautiful. See you next week!
It is definitely a keeper! we will probably move it over to our side of the house when we have more rooms.

In Australia, my husband and i sleep in an antique French double bed for over 54 years, we don't need a 40 acre paddock.
love the paddock term Maxine. all the best from France - Clare & Nick
I look forward to your vlogs each week. Keep up the great work! 😊
Big thanks Julie
Ah I haven’t watched Bridgerton yet. I need to, but I’m saving it for after hospice . Try a shop vac .

We did Linda - but thankfully we are fairly inland and it does not seem to get too bad here. However check out tomorrow nights vlog...unusual weather warnings!
