  • Transforming a stock truck into the home of your dreams isn't exactly simple. Luckily we had @MainLineOverland to help us transform our brand new Toyota Tundra into a thing of beauty, ready for a camper (although, it'd be pretty amazing like this too!). In this video we dive into how we ended up with an overland rig to begin with and why we decided to update. We also cover finding a truck and the ups and downs of completely overhauling the Tundra, named Jolene. Enjoy!

CBI reached out to us following the release of this video to discuss the situation. Per CBI’s request we will share the nature of our agreement. That agreement was that CBI would provide a front bumper and roof rack in exchange for being a part of the build and the videos documenting it. With their failure to deliver the front bumper within the timelines agreed on and the mistreatment of MAK, we opted not to include the part that was installed (roof rack) in the build series. However, we have offered to pay for the roof rack outright so CBI’s original investment is returned.

Great job trying to make things right from your end. Unfortunately, your experience with CBI doesn’t seem to be unique, at least within the Land Cruiser community they have failed to meet many people’s expectations. However, Dissent Off-road seems to consistently get all the love from their customers👌🏼

This is a cool build don’t get me wrong, but for those thinking about getting a Four Wheel Camper do NOT put it on a 1/2 ton truck. You need a 2500 or 3500. Good rule of thumb is keep it under 80% of your payload capacity fully loaded. Over that the vehicle will start to perform poorly. Never drive over your payload capacity.

My wife and I have considered a Sprinter Van, but $300,000 is out of the question, plus Mercedes are unreliable and very exclusive dealer network, and you can only take your Sprinter to a Mercedes dealer for repairs, huge pain in the ass. Toyota Tundra and 4 Wheel camper is the absolute best combination, for half the price, much more reliable, excellent dealer network, and you can take a Toyota anywhere for service after warranty, it is a no brainer!!!!

Every time we’ve ever been asked why we didn’t get a van, this is essentially all of the reasons! 🫠

@@BoundForNowhere the last thing I want to do is waste my valuable time in a Mercedes repair shop/dealership arguing for warranty, or having a 2 week wait to even get into service if they agree to do the warranty repairs (NO THANKS), 12 Toyotas in my life, not one has left me on the side of the road!! I wish we had Toyota models here in North America that are available in other countries, I also wish Four Wheel Campers were less money, I feel they are very overpriced, for what you get. Nobody has come up with a better pop-up camper than Four Wheel Campers, not that I know if anyway.

I second nearly all of that actually! The one thing I would add, is that if you are comparing prices in campers, FWC is also at the lower end of what a great deal of these campers go for these days... WHICH IS INSANE TO ME. But it doesn't make them not expensive.

A bit too commercial, to be honest. Just be real humans. No need to be a full length commercial.

ouch! I can't believe you took your beautiful new truck through an automatic car wash, those things are murder on clear coat. you just did a years worth of damage to the finish of your vehicle. please DON'T ever do that again.
