It takes a lot of "convincing" for anyone to want to voluntarily REMAIN communist for very long. Hence, the "people's re-education facilities." Also why they always ring the borders with armed guards and barbed wire.

Well human societys have been communist before, not voluntarily but out of necessity, we call it primitive communism today and it's one of the steps humanity had to overcome to reach the next step of civilisation. There was a time when most of humanity didn't knew the concepts of centralism, patriarchy, and monopolised wealth and people lived in tribes rather than family structures like we know them today. It worked because the human consciousness is shaped by his invioroment and the basic human instinct of Mutual Aid is the key aspect of why it worked. That doesn't mean Anarchists want to nuke civilisation and go back to that time rather than restoring that state of human consciousness for a future more advanced communist society. Communism with the consciousness we develop under capitalism a setup for failure, so is capitalism itself. There is no system that is voluntarily, capitalism is definitely not, i have to participate in it in order to survive otherwise i starve. If you don't want to live on your own in the woods you have to participate in some sort of organised society so why not a society that shares all the wealth equally?
Its a noble but unreal idea. Evolution instills the strong sense of prolonged survival, and that sense would always be heightened in certain individuals who would do whatever it takes to make sure they get the best life and possibly the longest. From that stems the greed, the need to exert extraordinary control, exert violence to command cooperation, etc. Anarchism is a noble utopian thought experiment.

I see communism as possible only if voluntary. Sharing takes a lot of maturity, justified trust, and ongoing restrategizing.

I feel like this could work if the people all had an education in ethics and philosophy. Otherwise it would just be a race to the bottom.
