I watched a show called “The Food That Built America”. In the episode about Reese’s, it said the overcooking the peanut butter was an accident which led to the cups’ iconic tasting peanut butter. They’re my favorite candy bar. The holiday ones are fantastic!

I Worked On A Resses Cup Production Line. At Hershey's. It's A Very Fast& Can Be Hard At Times. Especially With The Foils That Sit In The Trays. You Have To Make Sure There Is Only One In Each Slot For The Cup. Occasionally You Also Had To Scrap Out Any Chocolate In The Cup Tray. In Order For The Cup To Be Centered.Then The Finish Product. You've To Make Sure It Doesn't Have Any Defects. Also To Make Sure That Only One Cup Is In The Slot. & It Goes Under A Roller.& Then On To The Packaging There Were Times When We Always Had To Take The Trays Off The Line. & Stacked On A Rack. To Get Cleaned & Sanitized.& Put Back On The Line. It Can Get Very Messy. Plus You Had To Wear Little Finger Things On Your Hand To Handle The Little Black Foil Cups.

The quality of the content for this program, which me and my kids watched together in the early 2000’s, has fallen dramatically. Reusing the same video footage, no video of the machine, not necessarily the actual jets, molds, etc. very sad day

Anyone else prefer the King size? I eat the hard edge chocolate all the way around first then I’m left with this nice thick peanut butter with just the thin layer of chocolate on top and bottom. It’s so freaking good this way. Cause when you eat them normally the delicious peanut butter dissolves faster than the chocolate of the harder edge sections.

This whole video is nonsense, and reads like deliberate disinformation to try and throw off attempts at knock offs.
The peanut butter in these cups is "sweeter and creamier" than usual peanut butter? That's utter nonsense, the addictive PB mixture in these cups are dry, crumbly like wet sand, and much more salty than typical peanut butter. They always have little tiny pebbles of salty peanut pieces in it. It's part of what makes them so addictive for me... Go into a homemade chocolate shop where they make knock offs with regular PB... It misses the mark entirely because it's not anywhere near the salt level, and dryness, of the Reese's PB.
I've also read that the original Reese burned the peanuts a little when he roasted them before making the center paste... The charred taste created that classic salty aspect that makes them so addictive.
