This video tells the story of a girl who gets picked on for being overweight. Eventually even her own boyfriend, who she thought loved her, left her. She fell into a negative spiral of self doubt and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Until one day she discovering running... She started with daily early morning runs which made her feel better both physically and emotionally. This was the first time she actually learned to lover herself. She reversed the negative spiral and through self-acceptance continued working on her physical and emotional well-being.
We chose this story as we believe it is important to love yourself no matter what situation you are in. If you cant accept yourself, it very quickly leads down a negative spiral of self-doubt and self-pity. As you learn to accept and love yourself for who you are, you'll see it will get easier to take steps to work towards the goals you value.
Script:
“Hey, meet me in the canteen today, it's important”. He was breaking up with me. In the canteen of all places... In front of everyone! I don’t understand why he would do this to me. If he's into skinny girls like her, then why did he ever get with me in the first place?
I stood in the girls changing room with my back to everyone, staring at the brick wall in front of me while all the cute girls were getting dressed behind me. This was the worst time of the week, every week. But this time it was even worse. I put one arm into the sleeve of my shirt then I squeezed in the other one when suddenly….. RRRRRrrrriiipp!
“Oh my god”, I couldn’t believe it, my arm had just ripped through the seam of my shirt because my arms had gotten so fat. I continued to stare at the wall, I didn’t take a single breath for what felt like a lifetime as time stood still, then the silence was broken by the sound of girls giggling behind me. My heart dropped into the bottom of my stomach and I felt sick, I turned round and looked towards my only real friend there for reassurance and as I made eye contact with her, I saw her quickly try and stop laughing and keep a straight face.
I felt like the whole world was there to witness my humiliation, when really there were only 6 other girls in there. I quickly had to get the attention away from me being fat, so I made up an on the spot joke…. “Aaarrghh! There goes my useless mom again, shrinking my clothes in the washer” I said, "Yeah, hehe" a couple of them replied but I could tell from their expression that they weren't buying it. I then went to my usual defence mechanism and tried to join in laughing with them, even though I was crying inside. I knew I couldn’t keep it together for long so I turned back to the wall to hide the tear that slowly rolled down my face as I changed back into my gym clothes.
After this I quickly got dressed and edged my way to the door making sure not to make eye contact with anyone in there, like I was invisible, this is something I taught myself as a kid and it's stuck with me ever since. A bit like if I can't see them, they cant see me. As soon as I was out the door I ran down the corridor and into the bathrooms locking myself into the cubicle and sitting on the closed toilet seat. I was ready to make myself feel better the only way I knew how. By eating! I reached my hand into my bag and pulled out a bar of chocolate, the feeling I got while holding its crisp wrapper in my hand was instant joy. I knew it was about to enter my mouth and it couldn’t happen soon enough. Then, in a blink of an eye it was unwrapped and gone, but as soon at the chocolate was gone, the pain returned.
I left the bathroom in my gym shirt feeling so humiliated. Everywhere I looked there was another set of eyes that seemed to be looking at me. Did everyone know what had happened? They knew I was the fat girl who couldn’t even fit into her own clothes anymore? The remaining 4 hours of that day felt like 4 long weeks of embarrassment. Every class someone else was there to ask “hey, where's your shirt?” as if they didn’t already know what had happened! At the end of the day I approached my boyfriend who was standing with his friends.. I needed his love right then, but as I got to them they were all laughing and stopped as soon as they saw I was there. I couldn't believe it. I turned around, and walked the long humiliating road home knowing the only thing that was going to make me happy was my fridge!...

Yeah it really sucks it happened to me too but not because of my weight or anything, since I was a new girl in a school of few students I gained popularity quite fast even though I'm quiet(probably because everyone knew each other for years in that school and they rarely got new students). I got a boyfriend and since I was new and stuff people spread rumors and said I cheated on my previous boyfriends even though I never did but my boyfriend believed them and when everyone gathered for morning assembly he broke up with me in front of everyone and they all laughed and looked at me I was sooo humiliated (sorry about the rant)

I don’t care what your home life is, that’s no excuse to treat people poorly when they did nothing to deserve such treatment. Bullying absolutely should be called out.

In middle school I thought I was fat. I starved myself. I would go days without food. Every three to four days without food I would take a little bite of something (like a sandwich) then I would repeat the process all over again until I was to weak to stand. I felt so worthless. My father would always call me fat. Ever since I was a baby and NOT in a joking way. He lead me to believe I was overweight when I wasn't. I was extremely underweight for a year. I almost lost my life.. It took a year of therapy but today I'm a healthy weight. I still don't understand why people put others down for being overweight. It's wrong.

@Rance Burger some people do everything they can to be healthy. I've known many people who are overweight but eat clean, run or go to the gym regularly and still don't fit the bill of "healthy weight" while their doctors say that their health records say otherwise. Everyone comes in all different shapes and sizes. And making every overweight person seem "unhealthy" is unhealthy in itself. I wouldn't be surprise if your words have caused eating disorders or suicidal thoughts or even worse. You should really think about the majority. Not yourself.
@Rance Burger It's one thing to give somebody advice for it and see if the person will overcome it. It's another thing when someone shames another person for their body image. Do you actually think that it will try to convince someone to take on a healthier lifestyle? Being cruel about it doesn't solve a damn thing.
I’m so sorry that to deal with the bullying for being larger than others, you had to deal with an eating disorder. I think this is a good story to talk about eating disorders that aren’t just about starving yourself, I’m so sorry this happened to you! I’m glad you got over this and got better :).

It's called natural selection, humans barely have it anymore, but it still exists in forms like these. If you see a person who's fat, it automatically makes you think they aren't as physically fit so pear pressure will occur to get people to change.

I’ve been plus size my entire life. I would go to say, for a period of time I was mildly obese. Kids in school would laugh and say things like “her name’s Abigail cuz she’s a big whale.” And “your ugly and fat, why would anyone love u?” I felt attacked everyday. After I dropped out to do home schooling instead, I had to deal with depression and it sucked. I truly thought I was so ugly. But now. I’m on the path to loose weight, not for anybody els, for me. I love myself not despite my flaws, but with my flaws. We should all love every bump, curve, Mark, scar, roll on our bodies. Get out there ladies and gents.❤️💪

I watch a tv show called Mike and Molly and they only focus on the fat people making fun of them and they are trying to lose weight but Molly's mother is super skinny, dangerously skinny, but nobody addresses this and say she should put on weight and nobody makes jokes or makes fun of her. just the fat people in it. the prmise of the TV show is that the fat people are trying to lose weight

You'll find someone better. I know I'm not chubby but my fiance is. He never thought I'd fall in love with him because of his weight but i fell in love with him because of who he is as a person. His heart has a lot of love to give, sensitive, romantic, respectful, a sweetheart. I never cared that he is chubby, I'm in love with him. Once this virus blows over, we are going to get married.

I was bullied for being fat they would say “so big and fat” over and over again and call me obese and ugly I was 9 and one times I was above the monkey bars and they went under me and touched my butt and my thighs I cried and felt so uncomfortable but I couldn’t jump of because you know the feeling that u are like stuck up high that’s how I felt my friend slapped them and told them not to touch me or call me fat again and they ran away we are still friends today 🤗

Some kid used to call me fat and ugly but my friends told them to leave me alone. She doesn't go to my school anymore and her mom keeps changing her phone number. We have lost contact, I miss her a lot. I feel more confident about myself and I exercise. I'm still working on my skin. But I'm getting better

Me: I’m sorry girl, but that’s a lot. I know you where working really hard and was expecting so much but you need to go easier on yourself. What matters is that your making progress. Just exercise every day and I promise your weight will really start to improve after a while. It’s not something you can change over night. It’s gonna take a couple months so be sure not to push yourself to hard.

I wanna make this clear Having Weight or even being big is not the same thing as being fat or medically obese.
What factors into being unhealthy is consumption of what someone is eating. There are people who have weight and are big but eat and are healthier than your average person.
And by the inverse being Thin is not the equivalent of being healthy. If that person isn't getting the proper nutrients they need or if they are still doing actions that would risk their health like drinking and smoking, then that thin body doesn't mean anything.

Thank you for this. I am a bit bigger than normal girls, and I eat less than most. It has never really made sense but I have been judged for it. It’s funny, because eating in public always gains you weird looks. It could be the only meal you have had that day, but people still judge.
That guy is a jerk. You can't judge a book by its cover. Breaking up with her because she's overweight... This is ludicrous.
I could definitely relate to this in a few ways with struggles I've had. But everyone is beautiful in their own uquice way there is no one size fits all for beauty, learning to love yourself is hard but very worth it and I'm also happy she seems to be happier and is working to better herself and be healthier.
People shouldn't say, "You aren't fat". That implies that being fat is bad. I think people should embrace having a fat body as what you are, and who you are, and what makes you gorgeous. I am not fat, so I don't know what this feels like, but a more honest and healthy approach to me would be, "You are fat, but that is in no way a bad thing. You are beautiful."

As a chubby child, my weight was always commented on by relatives. At 11 I was watching a soap opera and it had a bulimic girl in it so I started to copy that behavior. I was bulimic until I was 19. I’m 27 now and have always had a terrible relationship with food. I’ve been 105 lbs, 160 and toned, now 225 and obese. I just started a diet and rigorous exercising to get back in shape but goodness... I wish I would’ve never heard those hurtful words.
I use to be bullied about my size when I was younger. But now that puberty has strucked and I’ve lost some lbs I’m considered “thick” and no one bullies me anymore so there’s hope.

This is the same thing that happens to me. I was picked on for being overweight. I had no more self confidence, I didn’t think good of myself, I just hated how I looked. I still trying to get over people picking on me in school. Even though schools not in right now. This story just made me sob.

I was in my previous school and no one ever complained about my fatness.
But I became slim and fit when my parents went abroad for a treatment. So there was no one to feed me so much food. As a result,I got thin.
But I realized if we eat a balanced diet, we will remain fit. We won't be too slim or fat then. We just have to eat much when we exercise. And we should eat normally when we don't do any exercises. That way u will remain healthy and fit.
Why I stay with pups , animals and light meals because HUMANS do suck.
