I'm a new dad struggling to get into housing and despises Biden and most of his cabinet. That being said I'm 100% for giving Ukraine aid to fight the Russians and N.koreans so we don't have to. It's the bigger picture. Economic and militaristic forces will definitely effect our ability to financially help the population. And if Russia is able to take a bunch of territory, our global economy shrinks along with our GDP. Giving Ukraine aid and stopping Putin is chess while saving a few hundred mil and allowing allies to fall is playing checkers and eating several board pieces...
I'm a new Dad struggling to get housing. And as nice as it would seem to get a slice of some of that money that went to Ukraine would be, it would be allowing our allies to fall for a short term small gain instead of investing in stopping a our geographic and ideological enemy that would economically grow after obtaining Ukraine. Not to mention the fact that we allies with them. And if we just allow them to take land from our allies then we would appear weak. Now im sure none of that bothers you, but you're not playing long term chess/risk. Your thinking about the short term gain without any thought to what letting Putin win would mean at home both in the immediate and long term. Think a little bigger and outside of your box of influence. There's a reason even if you can't figure out what it is.
Single mom of 3. One child aged out but this would help tremendously. I'm drowning in debt just to keep my kids in clothes, food in their belly, and bills up to date. I work and my oldest works and helps out but it's still not enough to keep us from being in a bad spot if something else breaks.
You’re doing everything you can, and I can’t imagine how tough that must be. Raising kids while working and still feeling like you’re barely staying afloat is so stressful. This kind of support could be a great help, helping families like yours breathe a little easier and not constantly worry about the "what ifs." You’re not alone, and I really hope relief like this comes soon.
This seems great, but would this be a non refundable credit right? Because I know the child tax credit is $2000 per child and that is non refundable. It's the additional child care tax credit that would matter. Anyways, I think having monthly payments of the credit would be a lot better, creating a more stable extra income for families each month.
I received SSI and money for taking care of my granddaughter and believe I should get the child tax credit .. Can I with pretty much no income? Besides SSI and tanf?
I think people should decide themselves if the want it monthly or a lump sum..they can decide when taxes are done..it doesn't help everyone getting it monthly...there are people that getting it one lum sum can help more.lets say you are 2 months behind rent well one lump sum helps more,or you need t pay insurance bill one lump is better. Let the people decide what they want i stead of the goverment
Poor people struggle, they get the lump sum and can't help but overspend because they just aren't used to it. Payments is a fantastic option to help struggling families budget that money throughout the year.
I agree. Getting monthly payments instead of one big lump sum can make budgeting so much easier, especially when money’s already tight. It helps families cover bills and essentials as they come up, instead of feeling overwhelmed or overspending all at once. Steady support just makes everything feel a little more manageable!
Absolutely! This could be a huge help for families who are struggling, especially when one or both parents are out of work. It’s tough out there, and extra support like this could make a big difference for kids, helping parents cover essentials like food, rent, and school supplies.

Our government had no problems giving billions to Ukraine. Why can’t they give us more money as American citizens?😤
I hear you-it's frustrating when it feels like there’s always money for things overseas but not enough support for families here at home.

The Bible says, give a man a fish you'll feed them for a day, teach them how to fish you'll feed them for a lifetime.
Well because you are not an illegal immigrant or a government worker.
I think it would help family's a lot more to get monthly payments instead of one big payment every year
Believe it when we see it
How would an extra $5,000 per child impact your family’s budget?

Where’s the dad?

What about if your child is 17 do u still get 5000
Depends is it for everyone or only the extra poor? My middle class family is struggling too
That would have to change quick because alot of adults with kids start to file there taxes late January and febuary.
Money payments will help me every month, I will love this.

How about providing tax education versus giving people money that ends up back where it came from ?

it will help a lot of people do to the fact that food is going up rent is going up jobs are not paying enough and cutting people hours
I dont agree last year me and my wife used tax money only on car note it was paid for 11 months
That is great news specially for children who’s parents are poor and some father do not have job
